Facebooking and Liking - Whis is best SEO practice for Rankings

Hi everyone! , i am a rookie with SEO. I have a very specific question for which i would love to hear your opinions on this.
I have a facebook fan page about my company. We try to post quality stuff in regard to the industry we are in. However, we are social people, and i have seen improvements whenever we post more "social" topics such as TGIF, Photos, DIY themes.
My question is (Actually two questions) :

Is there a direct correlation or metric between rankings and "likes", the size of your facebook community ?

If so, which has more power or effect on rankings. Facebook Likes generated from your website , or General Likes of posts within your existing community.

Yes, thank you for the response.
I heard it and also read it somewhere in the ART OF SEO Book from Rand, but didnt know how much it affected on rankings. It makes sense that sharing has more of an effect than liking, but i wasnt sure!

Number of Likes/Fans has no direct effect on rankings, Jesus. It's just far too easy to game and fake these numbers for the SEs to rely on them as ranking metrics.
Click-through rates from the SERPS can however be affected if a searcher sees your result and the SE also displays an affiliation to someone the searcher trusts beside that result.
But no, number of fans doesn't create rankings.

How to change Facebook username and pagename for a large company?
Greetings, I've been tasked with investigating how to change our Facebook pagename and username. Problem is we have a huge number of followers - over 1,000,000. From my research it appears you have to submit a change request to FB and hope they accept it as you can only make these changes once. In addition, the change appears to be more challenging if you have more than 200 likes. And there is no guarantee that FB will accommodate your change request. I have been unable to contact a human being at FB. SEOMoz Staff 😉 - May I ask how you effectively changed your page name and username? What was your process? Kind regards, Eric Darby

Is Pinterest's Embed a Pin good for SEO?
I was curious if by having Pinterest embed pins on my site will add SEO value... This would be used mainly on product pages for alternative images, closeup detail, any type of image to answer a customers question. I would accompany the pin with more text as another way of adding content to the page. Example on my site: Wicker Sofa product page with Pinterest Embed live. Also attached the screenshot of the code that is used by Pinterest pin embed widget. Hoping that extra unique content + social activity repins or follows, would help my store's SEO. Qualty of Likes, Shares etc
People often say that Social Media shares are all about the quality of them but not the volume when it comes to a factor in SEO. However, as far as I know, Google does not have any in depth access to the likes Facebook and Twitter's API, so how can they tell the quality of likes. Most Facebook accounts are hidden or restricted so Google can't tell from that either.

A lot of sites put their Facebook "Like" widget on their homepage and it shows the number of people who like them. Is there an SEO or marketing benefit to having this. I could see how this can provide social proof to visitors. Are there any other benefits?

Has anyone used facebook to promote their website
Hi i have seen lots of facebook pages that are being used to promote a company and would like to know if anyone is using facebook or any other social network such as myspace to promote their website without having to pay a fee. I would love to see some examples and learn how to set up a facebook page that is there to promote a website. I am creating a new fan page for my company. The page will definitely begin with my brand name. Is it a good idea to add keywords after the brand name (3-4 word short description of what the brand is) or is it better to keep the name just the brand? Thanks!
