Templated content with minor changes
-
Hello,
I am working on a site with 1000s of inventory pages. i am slowly building links and writing custom content for pages that will bring best ROI. Will i have issues on templated pages with minor changes.currently traffic is pretty good.

If Google ever detects an issue will I be notified via webmaster before anything occurs?
No, you will simply see a traffic / rankings drop.
If you were in my situation how would you handle this?
If this was my site and I didn't depend upon it for my income I would let it roll "as is" but get lots of unique content up ASAP.
If this was my living or a client site and it was doing really well I would get a larger budget or a loan and and get the content beefed up really fast with hired help.
Or, if I was really conservative I would do some deindexing.

I am still new at Seo, and am trying to keep everything as clean and white hat as possible. If Google ever detects an issue will I be notified via webmaster before anything occurs? Now I am very nervous and not sure what to do? If you were in my situation how would you handle this? The site is roughly 2 years old, in a med-high competition market. With literally thousands of potential pages for custom content which I am working on daily, myself, as well as outsourcing.
Any help MUCH appreciated
Thanks so much!

If the overall performance is pretty good you can let it continue "as is" but keep improving the default performer content. But be aware that you are "getting away with thin content" until Panda catches you. Then if Panda hits you will have to take the drastic action of deindexing all of the thin pages and waiting with very low traffic until it recovers.

Should I block the all template stype pages? I am lost now as to what to do, they sites overall performance has been pretty good.

Hello!
No we have the ability to write custom content for each page, but the amount of time and work is monstrous. We have large competitors that do the same thing. What would you recommend doing? The site is live event tickets, music, sports, theater, so you can imagine just how many pages are there. What it allows us to do is write a performer default copy, and there is a tag that that will match artists searched. Im not 100% sure what to do now? Any help appreciated!
Thanks

That's not very much information to go on...
.... but it sounds like you only have the ability to write custom content for a small number of pages. If you write custom content for 20 pages and launch 980 that are near duplicate the very best that you might get is 21 pages that appear in search results - your 20 uniques and one of the 980.
If the Panda catches you then you will will have 21 pages that compete very poorly - if at all - in the search results.
If this was my site I would write ten pages per day and upload them when they are ready for visitors.

Unique Pages with Thin Content vs. One Page with Lots of Content
Is there anyone who can give me a definitive answer on which of the following situations is preferable from an SEO standpoint for the services section of a website? 1. Many unique and targeted service pages with the primary keyword in the URL, Title tag and H1 - but with the tradeoff of having thin content on the page (i.e. 100 words of content or less). 2. One large service page listing all services in the content. Primary keyword for URL, title tag and H1 would be something like "(company name) services" and each service would be in the H2 title. In this case, there is lots of content on the page. Yes, the ideal situation would be to beef up content for each unique pages, but we have found that this isn't always an option based on the amount of time a client has dedicated to a project.

Where to add new content
I run a vBulletin website and vBulletin isnt very SEO friendly. I do fairly well in Google for most of my keywords, but forums dont necessarily build strong page authority etc. My site deals with fishing reports across the state of VA and drives 15-18k sessions a month and close to 100,000 page views a month based on Google Analytics. I want to start targeting new keywords and I am concerned about vBulletin inability to be SEO friendly. Many of my new keywords arent dynamic like fishing reports that are added by members daily. These are more like campgrounds, marinas etc. My thought is to install a Wordpress blog and build out this content so I can efficiently deal with on page SEO. the vBulletin software is installed in the root so I would install wordpress in something like mydomain/lake123/ Is the right thing to do, and will google see multiple sitemaps (one for vbulletin and another for wordpress) and index appropriately? Am I missing something major here? Thanks ~ Brian

What precaution should we take to change the default page of the site
For some reason we wanted to change the default page of my site from example.com to example.com/default.aspx. We will be using 301 redirection to get the back link benefits. Do we need to make any changes in webmaster tool and sitemap too??

Offer landing page, duplicate content and noindex
Hi there I'm setting up a landing page for an exclusive offer that is only available (via a link) to a particular audience. Although I've got some specific content (offer informaiton paragraph), i want to use some of the copy and content from one of my standard product pages to inform the visitors about what it is that i'm trying to sell them. Considering I'm going to include a noindex on this page, do i need to worry about it having some content copied directly from another page on my site? Thanks

Archive of content
Hi there, I have recently joined a company to look after the e-marketing side of things, anyway the company I work for have been writing articles for a website that they own for over 2 years, probably about 200 or so unique articles on that website, however over the past year or so there has been no contribution to this site and was wondering if it would be worthwhile transferring these article over to our blog?, as this is where all the attention is in terms of marketing etc Kind Regards,

Strategies for revising my duplicate content?
New to SEO and SEOmoz. I tried searching for this first and I'm sure it's on here but I could not find it. I have a site that markets fishing charters in a few dozen cities. Up to now I was relying on PPC and using each city page as a landing page of sorts. Each citiy page is very similar (there are only so many ways to write about a type of fish or fishing). What would be the recommended way for optimizing this, keeping in mind the duplicate information we provide on each page seems to be important to people. Site is www.vipfishingcharters.com Thanks!

How to avoid duplicate content on ecommerce pages?
I am currently building the site architecture for a very large ecommerce site. I am wondering how I should build it out if I have products that I want to include in multiple categories within my site. For example: Lets say I sell fitness equipment and I have categories for things such as: Treadmill, Exercise Bike, Stair Stepper, Weight Benches etc. But then I also have specific brand category pages such a: Precor, Life Fitness, Hammer, Body Solid So my question is how do I structure this so I am building this correctly? If I sell a Precor Treadmill I will want to include that product under the "Treadmill" category page as well as under the "Precor Equipment" category page. Can I get some advice for the best way to structure this? It's obviously something I want to avoid at all costs of doing improperly and having to fix later. Thank you Jake
