Links I am not Building?
-
Hi All,
I check webmaster multiple times on a daily basis, and I noticed some links that I have not worked on and look a bit spammy, is it possible for people to purposely pont bad links in my direction? If that is the case is there a way for me to remove them myself?
Also the number of total backlinks are very different in Webmaster and my Open Site Explorer, is this normal?
Thanks again !

almost 300 and in the form of blog responses? How can this happen?

Hi,
There are a multitude of websites that will build crappy links going back to your website. Many of these links probably aren't a problem as I would bet Google knows the sites and their M.O. Yes, anyone can link to you and most of the time I wouldn't worry about these things. Bing does have a way for you to inform them of links you disavow. Check out the article here : http://searchengineland.com/bing-launches-way-to-disavow-links-but-why-126262
The easiest way to remove links is not very easy at all and involves contacting the site owners. I'm not aware of any specific tool Google has but I understood they were working on a similar tool to allow you to disavow links. A recent SEOMoz article did cover the procedure for dealing with negative SEO pretty well: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/to-catch-a-spammer-uncovering-negative-seo
There will always be a difference between OSE and Google reports of links. Totally normal.

You can attempt to contact the web master of the site you are linked from and request that they remove your link...
How many are we talking about and what kind of site are they on?
-
Is it possible to have them removed? Can I do it myself?
thanks

Yes that's normal Google have more power and can crawl more of the web than roger, plus roger chooses to not show low quality stuff (I am pretty sure this is still the case!?). - FYI roger is the bot that crawls the web for OSE.
And yes it is possible for people to point bad links at you, your site is on the internet anyone can link to you.
The best thing you can do is build a strong back link profile, then a few low quality links won't hurt - tbh a few links should be ok any way most people have some spammy stuff in their back link profile...

Link over-building?
Hello all. One of the first things we do for our clients is to claim their local listings, include them on a set of selected directories (8-10), and blog directories (5), if applicable. Since they will all be linked to the client site, could doing all of this at once run us into problems with unnatural link growth? Thanks! Frank

Link Building Ideas?
Hi everyone, I am currently working on a site where people can buy mail-order bagels, i.e. the bagels are shipped via postal mail. It's a good alternative for places that have no good bagel stores nearby, especially in small, rural towns. I am about to launch a link-building campaign for the website, but am a little stuck as to where to begin. My first thought was guest posting, but it seems like the vast majority of food blog owners are very protective of their blogs and rarely, if ever, allow guest posts. I also thought about doing sponsored reviews (i.e. sending mommy bloggers free samples in exchange for a review), but that's essentially a paid link, i.e. a no-no. There are of course generic web directories, but those only get you so far, and article marketing is out of the question (too spammy). Was hoping I might be able to bounce off some ideas off of you all. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for whatever tips/ideas you might be able to share 🙂 Lukas

Should I optimize/link build all my pages at once?
I'm currently starting to optimize about 30 area specific pages for a property maintenance company and was wondering, what's the best way to link build multiple pages at once? Should I link build for all of the 30 the pages at once, or maybe focus on 5 individual pages - get them ranking well, then focus on the next 5 and so on?
