First 500 Twitter Followers....
-
I am about to start a brand new twitter account... I have been reading about people offering to set-up accounts with 500 followers... I assume these are spammy/fake profiles.
I was thinking of looking into twellow.com or twiends.com. Any experience with these? How do you get your first 500 followers?
Also any other ideas? AND Does the follow back model work i.e. you follow me and I follow you.... I would of thought healthy twitter accounts for more followers than people you are following.... Discuss...
-
It's trying to example why fake profiles/spam are bad.... they just see the numbers of followers going up and think it makes the account look better....
-
Gotcha. I would just state the same arguments, that building 500 followers oneself is a worthwhile excercise, doesn't take that long and there's no "feeding the spam monster".
-
As I said in my earlier comment..... How do you stop clients paying for cheap follows.... my original comment above is....
"...I find myself explaining why not to pay $25 for 1000 followers. Clients view is that it makes the account look better and if they get taken in the future they have made the account look better in the short term..... How do you defend that sort of logic...."
-
Many good points already made. I would just add that getting to first 500 followers, using 'organic' methods like following influencers, sharing their content and producing own content is easy and doesn't take too long. Plus you'll learn a great deal about the market in the process.
And somehow, it also feels wrong to pay for zero-value-add things like fake Twitter accounts, this just feeds the monster.

SEOMoz recently introduced Followerwonk. It's a really good tool to decide who are influencers in the sector you are in and makes it easy to follow them and find people worth following to build your twitter profile. You can also search twitter bios to follow people with the same interests. For example I was setting up an account for a new fashion website and searched bios with "Fashion, Online Shopping and Shopaholic" and the results were really good.
From there it's all about creating good content that people will want to read / retweet etc... and then the followers will flow

I found a couple of SEO & digital marketing lists and followed people I was interested in. Now I use Twitter as an information source so I follow a lot more. Some follow back. Others follow from your site, your social media profiles, sites like XeeMe and wherever you're linked.
Create content, the rest follows. Same as everywhere.

Yeah thats kind of my thinking.... Might just hashtag trends....

A lot of people misinterpret social media. You end up with more spam than anything else using the above services.
Some are legitimate but majority are just spam. The main reason behind this is because the insights and stats from your social media accounts will be inaccurate and hinders your future goals and tasks.
Lets say I get 10000 followers and 100 of those are actual followers that liked my page from a post or my website. If I am only getting 25 followers to click my links on Twitter, 25/10000 seems like crap. But 25/100 is pretty good. We are given these numbers, but using places like Twiends and buying followers are just not helpful and ruins your stats and analytics.

Is it OK to have two similar business sites share their Social Media (just one FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?
These two businesses are owned by the same company (industry is event planning). The parent company has been in business 20+ years and caters to a corporate crowd and the more recent company started by the parent caters to consumers (weddings). Would this have any negative seo implications if they share social media accounts? or is this perhaps just more of a strategic issue i gather. And i would gather that its best for each to have their own blog. Would greatly appreciate some insight! Thanks, Christian

Should I add follow my followers in a company page on G+ ?
Hi All, On one hand, if I follow them they are happy and receive a notice that they are being followed and will probably be more agile to plus my writings. On the other, it is unreasonable for me to follow everyone... and I think that as a brand I should watch very carefully who I follow. Thanks

Can we use SEOMOZ to get insights/data on the members of a twitter list?
It would be so useful if we could get insights into the members of a twitter list in the same way we can get statistics on the people we search through the "search twitter bio" options (following/followers/RTs/Social Authority/etc). This is possible through the twitter api but it limits to 20 list member which is useless. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks!

Track twitter HashTag uses
Greetings Mozers! I'm looking for a specific Twitter tool. Here's what I want the tool to do : Save a list of hashtags I want to keep up with. Keep me updated twice a day (or more) on the popularity of those tags. That's really all I need. Do you know any tools that can perform this? I was unable to find out. Thanks!

Company name in TITLE tag first have an impact on user behavior?
Does anyone know if there any sort of study or have an opinion on the following: Does the company name appearing the browser tab have any affect on how a user interacts with a site from a branding perspective or a TITLE tag / meta description in SERP "paying off" perspective? That is, optimizing titles COMPANY NAME | KEYWORD instead of vice versa so that when the title shows in the browser tab, the company name is displayed but not much else.

Do you split your personalities up? Do you have a private, personal Twitter acccount in addition to your professional Twitter account?
I read a lot on SEO, but I read way more on another unrelated subject matter (and have way more to say). Should I split my Twitter account into two distinct accounts (one for each subject matter)? Do you keep a private, personal Twitter for screwing around with your friends and/or getting the word out on social issues pertaining only to your social circle? Or do you just use your professional account for this? Or do you somehow manage to not "waste time" on purely personal social networking? [UPDATE: To abstract my question a bit: should I cultivate distinctly branded personal nicknames for different spaces that I am interested in? I have gone by "Loudogg" all my life but I am now afraid that as I grow professionally in different unrelated sectors that I will dilute my personal brand by Tweeting (and doing other activities) along too many different subjects as "Loudogg". To complicate matters, I am actually involved in more than 2 fields, and would like to grow in at least 3. Should I develop multiple personalities entirely? It just feels wrong.]

Twitter Account names for Fictional Characters
I'm consulting for a web series that features ~6 well established characters, and I would like to establish a twitter stream for each character before the start of the new season in a few months. The characters all have first names but no last name, and the web series's name (Naked In A Fishbowl) is too long, and the acronym NIAF is not well-branded yet. What would be the best way to pick Twitter handles for cast members (BonnieNIAF, Jean NIAF? BonnieFishbowl? Bonnie_NIAF?)
