Brand Name searches: Low Click Through Rates in Google - What are your CTR in the SERPS for your Brandname?
-
Hello,
Checking the Analytics part - Search Engine Optimization/ Queries -
I found suprising results for my website:
The website is no. 1 for my brand name but only has a 28% CTR on the brandname in the Google SERPS!
Please see exactly what I mean here: http://screencast.com/t/GKjwliZ6GTF7
I'm looking for your experience of CTR of other websites in the same situation.
Do you have similar low CTR?
Some background info;
The website is no1 for the brandname.
Sitelinks are shown.
Google Maps is shown on right.
In the period are no adwords advertisments on my brand name as I know. I checked several times. I cant understand where 72% go after searching for my brandname.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Best Regards
Daria

I think I fail to understand this report as the math are not making sense:
Keyword Tool: 260 searches in broad mach , 210 in phrase match, 170 in exact match.
How is it possible to get 320 impressions on the same Query.
There are way more impressions than searches for that specific query. Thats nonsens!
From Google Support- definition of query:
| Query | Only used in the SEO reports. Applies to the actual query entered by a user in Google search. | The actual query entered by a user in Google search. |

-
4 Brand name is unique
-
5 No other products use this keyword for sure
-
6 This is my fear. But I nerver managed to see an ad on the top of my brandname. I also use google adwords ad preview to chech diffrent locations etc.

7 May metadesciption could be improved but there are also sitelinks that give lote of space.
By the way. The site links count as normal hits. Correct???
What are your CTR in the SERPS for your brand name?

Just to put your mind at ease, our brand see's a similar CTR but I have put below some considerations.
- With Google Privacy settings and the emergence of "None" it might be possible that Google registers the impression but counts the click as "none" - very unlikely.
- Do you run paid adverts on your brand? Is it possible people could be clicking these? Factor this in when considering the overall CTR.
- You said Google Maps is on the right - if your brand is a restaurant /venue/shop it's possible they click that result and go to Google Maps, and still find what they are looking for.
- Is your brand name unique - if other companies have it, people may see the results and decide thats not what they are looking for?
- Could your brand name be confused with other products?
- Are other people bidding on your brand name.
- Is your Meta Descritpion fully optimised? This is basically a written advert for your site. Is it as optimised as can be? Is there a call to action.
I'll think of more but lots to think about.

Different Font of Meta Titles in SERP
Hi there, Does anyone know how they managed to get a different font in the meta title on this page, directly in SERP? www seorestart cz It's even differently in the source code of the page (try to google it with "site:" operator). I thought CSS has now power over this and I couldn't find anything else what might be the trick. Thanks for any answer. Cheers,

How Google decide reading time of a page?
Dear friends, I have a question. How google decide bounce rate? For an example- I open a website through organic keyword from Google. Now I have tab of landing page in browser I do not close this tab for 10 minutes and continue doing my other things after some time I come back on that tab and close. Can Google know? This page has been read till 10 minutes. Can Google decide the bounce rate for this session? If I do some click boost for my negative reviews can I do same thing in my website? Is it useful? If I open one tab and come back after one day than what happen? Silly question but confusing me so please help me. I will be very grateful to you! Thanks all

Drop In Branded Traffic
Hi, We took on a new client in March. Over the last few months I have noticed that their Branded Organic Traffic has dropped off considerably, around 20%. On further investigation I discovered that the drop off occurred between Jan & Feb this year (prior to us taking over). In Jan they launched a new site, the drop off seems to coincide with the launch of their new website. I also found out that their Page Rank had disappeared before the launch of the new website, and is still a PR/na. My first thought was that they have been penalised. How likely is this on a very well known site which gets roughly 170K visits per month? Could the drop in Branded Traffic be due to a decrease in advertising budget elsewhere (to compensate for the cost of the new website, leading to less brand exposure)? Could it be that there are just fewer people searching for their Brand? I guess the questions I am trying to find out are: 1. What are the reasons for massive drops in Branded organic traffic? 2. As an seo I am tasked mainly for optimising for non-branded organic traffic, is there anything I can suggest to the client to help get this traffic back? 3. If it is an algorithmic penalty (Panda, Penguin), how do I know which one? I have started with their links and disavowed known toxic links, fixed crawl errors, optimised their top pages etc etc. If it was a penalty and I mange to fix it, will their branded traffic return? Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated. Jon

Looking for examples of a B2B brand spinning off B2C products on to separate websites
Does anyone have any good examples or case studies? Right now I'm working on a site with both B2B and B2C products crowded onto one site. I'd love to find some examples of companies that have built their online B2B brand separately from their consumer products. I found the Constructive Playthings case study on Marketing Sherpa but nothing else.
