Images Getting Indexed Making for Low Engagements Times in GA
-
I have quite a few images that are being indexed for popular search terms and are getting clicks. This site has a 0-10 second engagement of 69%. I would like to eliminate these images from the equation because I tend to think they are hurting my "quality score" in organic Google rankings.
How do you keep these images from ranking?
I suppose I could rename them. Should I disallow the images folder? I hate to do that, because some of my images turn up in local searches, which is good. I would rather keep those. But what is best practice?
A little background info, this is a local service site. So the images that are ranking are coming up for a broad national type search. This has 0 value for the site.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks!

Nice work! Hooorah!

Huh??
I would like to eliminate these images from the equation because I tend to think they are hurting my "quality score" in organic Google rankings.
I believe that any role that engagement has in your rankings is based upon specific keywords done separately for web search and for image search. I am willing to bet big money on that.... in fact I have been all of my money on that.
Most of my sites get more traffic from image search than from web search. They rank fine in websearch.
The fact that your images are being clicked a lot says that people are interested in them. Did you ever think that image search activity might help your websearch rankings? (I don't know that it does but just saying that I think it might. After all, great images are a big part of quality content.)
So the images that are ranking are coming up for a broad national type search. This has 0 value for the site.
Still cheerin'.
Some of these visitors are local and you said that you like seeing the images in local search.
Do you have any customers who are from a great distance? Maybe the images pulled them in!
If you are getting a lot of this traffic slap some pay-per-impression ads on these pages.
But what is best practice?
I can't tell you best practice but for me the practice that seems to be working is place several great, attractive, interesting, relevant images on every page.
Don't chop off your foot because you think that maybe, but don't know for sure, that perhaps, you might, possibly have a small piece of gum stuck to the sole of your shoe.

Homepage disappeared from Google's index
The Title says it all..I just discovered that the Homepage is not in Google's index anymore. Homepage rankings have plummeted, our top keywords are nowhere to be found but most of keywords from deeper pages have dropped just one or two places. We just change the website design and some content but I strongly believe this is definitely something else due to the fact that it all happened so fast! There is one thing that I have to mention that might have been caused all this..our email client (Outlook) is using a lot of resources from our server and for the last couple of days the website was down quite a lot.

GA: How can non related kws show up in the organic report?
Hi mozzers, I have a site A: www.example.com (with its own branded kws) SiteB: subdomain.example.com Site A and B are related and belong to the same company. Site B was released a couple months ago. ISSUE: I have noticed branded kws from Site A showing up on Site B's GA which doesn't make any sense. I try to make searches in the SE with those kws and not a single search showed the Site B(subdomain). What is weird is that 2 months ago had a an issue with bounce rate on site B showing a 0% bounce rate, then I discovered that we had 2 GATC on site, removed the extra code and bounce was back to normal. Since then I have seen a rise of branded kws from Site A to Site B. Can someone help me here figuring out what is wrong? Thanks

Confirmation page gets hit multiple times by some users. How I can I segment out unique visits?
Hi All, I'm web marketing manager at http://www.evenues.com which is like an AirBnB for meeting space. When calculating the number of bookings for our meeting spaces, I've set up a goal in analytics with the confirmation page as the goal URL. The problem is, it seems that some users are looking at the same confirmation page several times. We have unique URLs for each confirmation page, but some users seem to be visiting these unique pages more than 2 to 5 times. This skews our numbers a bit. This makes things a bit problematic when it comes to segmenting visitors. is there anything we can so that each unique URL visited only counts once? Thanks, Kenji

Increase in 'Googlebot-Image' visits in analytics
Hi, I noticed a substantial increase in 'Googlebot-Image' visits data under Technology>Browser & OS in Google analytics for a few clients. Is this a bug? Are there any known fixes apart from just adding a filter to exclude the data? Regards Niladri
