To be honest the URL that you choose will have little influence on the search engines, however will people naturally try to link to .uk or .co.uk? once you establish your brand name you want it to be easy for the user to remember. This is why in the US .com is better.

.co.uk is not available otherwise that would be my first choice
since it is not available is .uk a good alternative or does Google view it as questionable?

Thanks. My question was less about the www and more if it is okay to have a URL that ends .uk instead of .co.uk which is the standard structure.

These are the better linking structures. If you are asking with or without the "www"? with is better, because everyone is familiar with it already and will most likely link to it naturally with the www. If you are in the uk the .uk is better if you are in the USA the .com is better.

Truncated product names
Due to the restraints of category page layout many of the products in certain categories have the product titles truncated, in some cases missing off 2-5 words depending on the product in question. The product name which displays on the category page is lifted straight from the product page itself, so not possible to do something like "product name including spec..." to place ... to indicate a bit more. I'm assuming not but just wanted to check that Google will not frown on this. Text is not being hidden it just does not render fully in the restricted space. So there is a scenario of 'bits of' text in the source not displaying on the rendered page.

301 Clean-Up - Best Practices & Procedure?
Hello Again, I have taken over managing a website for about 2 months and have fixed a whole heap of problems. Im now turning my attention to the URL rewrites as there are ALOT of them. I have fixed the most problematic offenders that were blocking products and all sorts of mischief but I now want to clean them up. The website is on Magento, and there are 240 custom URL rewrites. Question 1: Am i correct that I should edit the links on my website so that they link directly to the new page instead of utilising the re-direct for best SEO results. Question 2: If my website doesn't utilise the URL rewrite (fixed in question 1) its only purpose is to transfer link juice from any external link the page had before. If this page didnt have any external inbound links then I can delete the URL rewrite as it serves no purpose. Question 3: If Q1 and Q2 are correct, what is the quickest way to check the inbound links to a page quickly so I can make a quick decision on if i should remove the re-write. Many Thanks in advance!

Best strategy for redirecting domain authority from an acquired site...?
Hi all, I'm an in-house for a company that made several acquisitions last year prior to my starting. I'm just now hearing about several loose-ends websites that belong to companies that have been absorbed by us. The question is how to best approach the task of utilizing that site's domain authority to our site's benefit. There is already a link to the homepage in the header of the site in question (our logo's right under theirs) so we're already getting some linkjuice. Looks like the whois information never changed. Here are the options I'm considering: 1. Blanket redirect (all of their pages there into our home page) - not ideal. 2. Targeted redirect (try to "connect the dots" between content pages with similar subjects/keyword relevance - better than #1, but is it worth the extra effort? 3. More linking (add more strategically placed and keyword optimized links back to our site) - also more work, but certainly do-able if the consensus is to leave the site up. 4. Any other suggestions? Change of domain name?
Hello, We are currently developing a new site for an existing online clothing retailer. The existing site is on a .co.uk domain, however we are targeting a global market and wondered whether we could/should launch the new site under a .com address and whether this would be beneficial? How to force a trailing slash after the domain name

Redirect Multiple Domains
This is a follow-up question from one posted earlier this month. I can't linked to that because it's a private question so I'm trying to summarize it below. We have a number of domains – about 20 - (e.g. www.propertysharp.com) that point to our main domain ip adress (www.propertyshark.com) and share the same content. This is no black-hat strategy whatsoever, the domains were acquired several years ago in order to help people who mistyped the websites url to reach their desired destination. The question was whether to redirect them to our main domain or not. Pros were the reportedly millions of incoming links from these domains - cons was the fact that lots of issues regarding duplicate content could arise and we actually saw lots of some pages from these domains ranking in the search engines. We were recommended to redirect them, but to take it gradually. I have a simple question - what does gradually mean - one domain per week, per month?
