SEO Structure - Best Advice
-
Hi Mozzers,
I'm wondering if I need to tweak my SEO friendly URL structure slightly.
Example:
http://www.vintageheirloom.com/vintage-celine/celine-bags
would this be better for SEO if it was:
http://www.vintageheirloom.com/vintage-celine/bags
Perhaps the repetition of 'celine' is unnecesary, but OpenCart ecommerce CMS requires a plugin / modification to enable multiple use of a single term like e.g. 'bags'.
Any benefit for $30?
Thanks!

With the extra info no, I'd definitely agree that once is enough. I don't think that there is any benefit to the repeat and you risk either looking spammy (reduced CTR in SERPs) or being algorithmically marked as spammy (reduced SERPs).
$30 seems like a bargain to reduce those risks!

I woud not have it twice in the URL because it looks like an attempt to manipulate the search engines.

Sorry Mat, you're not going mad... I'm being slack...
links should be:
would this be better for SEO if it was:
Hopefully the URLs above don't get truncated as before...
Second link is the same but the instead of ending with ...celine-bags it just ends with ...bags
Would repeating Celine twice count as keyword stuffing or would the robots let that pass?
Thanks...

I'm not going mad am I? Those 2 links you posted are the same. Hard to see what you are getting at.
However I will say that I would be careful about repeating keywords in URLs. It could look like keyword stuffing both to the engines and users.

Assigning Locations to Wordpress from SEO Perspective?
I am looking for a way to split up and assign my 400 Wordpress posts to my business' four separate office locations. The four offices are in four separate areas with distinct city names. What way makes the most sense from an SEO perspective - assigning the city names as categories? adding the location as a tag, or some other way that I haven't considered? Currently, all posts are categorized by content and have no mention of location. Happy to answer any questions you might need in order to answer. Thank you!

Organic SEO for Local Towns
This is a fairly common question, but I am going to ask it again. I want to get ranked for many keywords: "hr outsourcing sheboygan", "HR outsourcing duluth", etc., all in my small state. Doing some random research, there are few if any pages with exact match phrases in the URL, Title, Etc. = No competition) Moreover, Google is not popping google places ads for these terms. My plan is to create fairly unique pages on my site optimized for each town. Right now, the pages are at 65% duplicate. I would assume that all of my pages will have some degree of duplication - there are similar elements on every page. If I run the content through a duplicate content tester, is there a % of unique content that would be fairly safe to avoid the duplicate content slap? Yes, I know it's more complicated than that semantic, heuristic, etc. - just looking for some general guidelines.

Nowadays is it fundamental renaming images for SEO?
Its it fundamental nowadays renaming images for SEO? Many photos are on top positions without being renamed like: mykeyword.jpg but can be 9876986.jpg instead. Doesn't itcount much more the contest in which they are such as text around photos, descriptions and context from internal and external linking pages? Renaming everyphoto, in every gallery can be considered over optimization? Is there any study showing the impact the single factor of renaming a photo in a page? Thanks

I am using the WP platform for my website and on one of the widgets I have a category widget that shows all the pages, (on every page). I wanted to know that when if i make a new post or page does it matter if the internal anchor texts are on the content itself or is it suffice to have it on the side bar within the widget? Basically what im asking is does it matter if i have anchor text links on the content itself or is it ok to have it anywhere on the page. and if it does matter to have it on the content, please help out on any suggestions on where to place them. thanks
