Anchor text for deep links?

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody had some advice on what to do for deep link anchor text in the post penguin world?For the homepage, I am going with almost exclusively branded text with only small variations once in a while. For the deep links I was thinking of doing a mix of branded text with some additional text such as:
"My Brand Name" + Red
or
"My Brand Name" + Blue
Does anybody know if this is the best way to go, or is there any other advice? Thanks in advance.

Just look at the kind of keywords people use to hit your internal / deep pages from Search. Specially your brand keywords and you could target some of those. Just make sure you are not doing too many of the same kinds of links.
You could also do:
"My Brand Name" + Red
Red + "My Brand Name"
Red Widgets at My Brand Name
Red Widgets by My Brand Name
My Brand Name Red Widgets
Red Widgets Partial Brand
and so on.

Value of Links? What is each link worth?
Morning Everyone, I just had this thought and wondered what everyone's opinions were in terms of link value in monetary terms. We'll assume for the purposes of this that the links come from contextually relevant sites and that the sites in question have got the Moz DA from being high quality and have a good quality incoming link profile. Its a bit of a theoretical question, but i guess imagine if the only way you could get links was to pay for them, what would they be worth to you. This is link value for SEO purposes, they will have in addition value from traffic from good sites, that no doubt varies wildly depending on topic. I assume everyone also agrees on: The first link from a domain is the most valuable High DA sites are worth more than low ones. So could anyone who has an opinion on the link value suggest a monetary value for links. Its really just using a monetary amount to see how best to target my time. Here is my example of what might be expected, but I am hoping people with more knowledge will perhaps correct it. Finding links online that already exist as link juice based on search results
I'm curious about this, I can't find anything on the net that talks about it. I wrote an article about it on squidoo and have had no responses so I am thinking this is very rare subject. The question is I have done some backlink research with my competitors with linkdetective.com and found many links (even follow ones) related to sites that provide search results. Here are a link about what I am talking about as an example, I have found many more besides this one. http://search.lphant.com/es/webResults.html?q=free%20scrabble%20dictionary&hl=en&page=1&src=hmp_es&ref=1 My site appears in those results. When looking at the source there is no "nofollow". I found this page because linkdetective.com had this link listed pointing to my competitor. Are these valid backlinks? What I have been doing is adding these links to http://www.google.com/addurl so that Google knows about them. Is there something I am missing or are these valid?

When analysing a company's inbound links, what is more important to note: The number of linking root domains, or the total number of links? And why?

Total Links vs Ext. Followed Links
Hi I'm fairly new to SEO and SEOMOZ. I've created a campaign for my own site and I've added 3 competitor sites. There are 1,385 total links to my site and a massive 49,450 links to one of my competitor's site. However under "Ext. Followed Links", there are 1,045 to my site and only 911 to the same competitor site. Am I correct that it is the "Ext. Followed Links" which are more important from an SEO point of view as the other links have the "no follow" attribute set? Or have I got this wrong? Thanks James

Do sites on the same c-block and same server count as seperate linking root domains when linking to each other?
Lets say there are 50 businesses who have their website on the same server and are on the same c-block but the owners of the individual sites are different (i.e. they are all completely different sites not relevant to each other). Each of those sites are linking to each other due to a feature on the sites. This obviously increases the number of total links to each site but does it also increase the number of linking root domains? Or does this just show up as one linking root domain due to all of them being on the same server and the sharing the same c-block?

Making deep links to your page on BBB or DMOZ - Effective or waste of time?
Hi, Has anyone tried making links to a deep links to a page on an external site (like dmoz or the bbb) which has a link to your website? Of course, you might wonder "it depends on the type of link" you make to this larger site. Let's say it's a link (without no-follow) on a forum or blog comment - low-quality but on a decent site. Anyone think this may have some benefit to increase the chance / rate that your own link from another site will be indexed more and provide more benefit? A dmoz link is great, but it's on the backpages because it's a huge site, opensiteexplorer hardly indexes dmoz links. Regards,

Do image links with no alt tags pass link value?
"... an image link with no alt tag is useless to search engines..." according to a Nov 2007 seomoz blog post. Is this still the case in 2011? I ask because I'm about to obtain a banner link on a high-traffic site (chiefly for the clickthrough value) but I notice the site uses neither "title" nor "alt" tags.
