Schema Address Question
-
I have a local business with a contact page that I want to add schema markup to. However, I was wondering if having the address with schema info on the contact page instead of the home page has any adverse effects on the rich snippet showing up in search.
There's no logical place to add schema for a local business on the home page, so having it on the contact page—not in the footer or sidebar—is the only option.

Hi Dan, So glad to help. Do hang onto the idea of putting schema encoded NAP in your footer - it's kind of Local SEO 101 to do so. If, for some reason, it would be easier to put it up in your masthead or in a sitewide nav bar, that would be a good substitute.

Thanks for reply, Miriam. I'm glad to know it doesn't have to be on the home page. It's possible for me to put it in the footer, but it would be more hassle than it's worth, so I wanted to make it clear for answering purposes that I didn't want to do that.

Hi Dan, Rich snippets come and go in the SERPs, so I don't have a simple answer to that, but it is definitely a best Local SEO practice to add your complete NAP (name, address, phone number) as the very first thing on a Contact Us page. You do not have to have it on your home page. This will not hurt you in any way. In addition to this, it's a good idea to place the same in your footer, sitewide, but you seem to be indicating that you have no way to do this. Why are you unable to do so? I'm curious.

PDF Optimization Question: Does URL Structure Matter?
Hi Mozzers: I am optimizing a bunch of PDF brochures within a client's website. Besides the typical optimization tactics I'm applying, (like these) I have a question regarding the file/url structure of the PDFs themselves. By default, the client is locating PDFs in an 'uploads' folder of their Wordpress site. So, a typical PDF might have a URL such as: https://www.Xyzinsurance.com/xyz-content/uploads/2015/06/Brochure-XYZ-Connect.pdf My question: is there any advantage in eliminating all these sub-directories and moving the files into a main folder, simply titled '/brochures' ?? Any insights or conjecture would be welcome!

Schema markup for Webinars
I'm looking for a solution to implement schema markup for our webinars. We have an events page that has a list of upcoming events, as well as a list of the webinars we've done with a link to YouTube to watch the webinar. The webinars on our events page have the title and date. What kind of schema markup can we implement for these past events? It is not really an event, but it's not a video either (unless we embed the video on our site). Any tips? (**Also, I would like to use JSON-LD instead of HTML to implement the schema). Thanks!

301 Redirect Question
I am working with a website and I ran a Screaming Frog and noticed there are 4,600 301's on the website (www.srishoes.com). It seems like the issue is between the www. and without it and they aren't working together. Is this something that the website provider should update and what type of impact might this have on the site? Thanks!

Secure and non-secure Schema.org Markup?
Is it possible to have schema.org itemtypes for both secure and insecure ports? I run a static-ish site made in Jekyll, and am implementing Schema.org on the individual pages. As a result, I'm trying to use the following: This doesn't validate with Google's Rich Snippet Tool. It doesn't register the Items as existing. Is there a good way to implement Schema.org in a static page hosted on both SSL and non-SSL ports?

Site Penalized - 301 Redirect Question
Hello, We have a website that was penalized roughly two years by Google for "Unnatural Links"... We are experiencing a lot of problems with this site, completely unrelated to the penalty or SERPS, and we're debating doing a 301 Re-direct to another site we own that is totally clean and has no "Unnatural Links". If we do a 301 from the penalized site to our alternative website, will there be any cross-contamination? Will the penalty carry over to our other site? Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Question on noscript tags and indexing
If I have a <noscript>tag on every page of my website with the same sentence over and over saying something to the effect of "Sorry our site uses Javascript, please enable javascript for the full site experience.", Webmaster Tools will tell me that one of the most common words on my site is "Javascript".</p> <p>Is this something to be concerned about from an SEO perspective? My site is obviously not about Javascript and I don't want to dilute my page's topic or authority by repeating words that are not relevant to the topic of my site.</p> <p>Thanks!</p></noscript>

Mobile or Responsive canonical question?
Hi guys We are in the process of expanding and are moving our site to magento enterprise. Today we met with a company pitching a seperate mobile site. While Im al for a mobile site in terms of look and user experience, from an seo point i dont believe and "m." domain is the best idea. However if we were to go with a mobile site, would adding canonical tags to the mobile urls pointing to the desktop urls be useful? For example m.trespass.co.uk/category-page has the canonical tag pointing to trespass.co.uk/category-page Im looking for someone who has direct experience wth this situation for one of their clients. Thanks Robert

Local Hotel Reviews/Citations and the ISP address
Happy New Year Mozzers, If a hotel guest signs into the free wireless provider that is provided by the hotel and writes a review of the hotel while logged in, by chance will Google perceive this as hotel staff writing phony reviews to hype the hotel? I ask this because I wonder if Google will view the ISP address as the hotel ISP and not differentiate a hotel guest versus the hotel staff. Thanks everyone!
