Trying to understand why i do not rank well for this keyword
-
Hi, i am working on a page at the moment and i am trying to work out why i do not rank well for the keyword gastric band hypnotherapy or gastric band hypnosis.
The page is http://www.in2town.co.uk/Gastric-Band-Hypnotherapy
any help on what i need to change to start ranking well would be of a great help
-
i think the trouble i have is, i do not mean for the keywords to appear so much but because they appear in the articles and i show a brief view of the articles on that page, they have the keyword of gastric band hypnosis and gastric band hypnotherapy in them.
It is like i cannot win. i want to have the keywords in there in h2, and for the titles as that is what the page is about, maybe it maybe a good idea to get rid of the bottom section of about gastric band hypnotherapy

There are no hard and fast rules for keyword density -- there's just a point at which it clearly looks spammy and artificial. In 500 words of content, I might use a keyword phrase three or four times. I will also make sure I have a few variations on the keyword phrase. I find that I can still write natural and engaging copy that way.

thanks for this. i have taken out the meta name. can you let me know how many times you should have a keyword in your page. i need to look at this and reduce the number of times that the keywords are mentioned.
I have the areas in as i was stating that it is being used in all the major cities in the UK but i will change this.

not being funny irving but why have you come on here irving when for starters i have given them a thumbs up and secondly you are wasting space on a topic that i find important. if you have nothing to give to this topic then i would ask you not to come on here with statements that have no relevance to the topic

good lord.
please mark sandip's and/or matts response as a good answer or thumbs up if they helped you
-
cheers for this i will re look at it and see what i need to do

You are targeting a term which looks quite competitive in the SERPs, so it is not going to be easy to rank well and will take some time.
Having a quick glance at your page it it clear that it is over-optimised as Sandip points out.
Running a quick on-page report with SEOMoz for the term gastric band hypnotherapyand your page it is clear you are **keyword stuffing with 51****occurrences **of the term on your page. You need to look at making our page more natural as over-optimization is something that has been under scrutiny of late with Google.
I would also look at your link profile for this page - running your page through opensiteexplorer.org it is clear that you have over done the use of anchor text with 7 linking root domain and 271 links containing the specific keyword anchor text - gastric band hypnotherapy.
Essentially you need to look at re-doing your on-page optimization to make it more natural. You also need to look at diversifying your link profile in terms of anchor textas it is clear too targeted at the moment.
I hope this helps Diane.

You are simply overdoing here –

Are Multiple Page Titles hurting my rankings
The platform that built our website has, for some reason, put multiple page titles on all of our webpages: https://www.backyardadventures.com/ If you open this page and "View Page Source" you will see that there are 50 page title tags (). There is one with our actual page title, but there are 49 others that look like this: <title></span><span class="html-tag">lock</span><span class="html-tag"></title> or <title></span><span class="html-tag">bubbles2</span><span class="html-tag"></title> are just two of the examples. The company said that because they are in a svg tag () they are fine. The title tags show up on some of the Moz tools. Is this effecting our rankings?

Site Not Ranking for Key Term
Question for my fellow Mozers I have a ranking question that I cannot put my finger on. I have a site (visitplano.com) where the client wants to rank for the keyword "Plano". I can't say if the site was previously ranking for this keyword, but I looked into the basic SEO practices and found that the keyword is incorporated in: Domain Title Content There is a lack of internal linking and anchor text within the content External links - 1,558 DA - 46 PA - 55 Currently, the website does not rank for the keyword "Plano". Could someone shed some light on why they aren't ranking or what I may be missing? I would greatly appreciate your help.

Impact of rogue keyword in content
I have a page that is optimised - title, URL, content etc for the chosen keywords. However, within the content are some batches of bullet point text that has repeated text throughout. So for example I have 5 instances of my chosen keyword within the content and 24 instances of the two word text within the bullet points. Does this kind of scenario have any impact on ranking?

Are Meta-keywords coming back?
I'm currently doing some benchmarking for a big realtor site here in México, while looking at the biggest players in the US I noticed most if not all are using the Keywords meta tag in their detail listings. I've been really open to my client about not using this tag at all given the current common knowledge but when sites like: Trulia.com, Realtor.com, appartments.com and the like, are using them I'm second guessing their utility. Does anyone have any insights on this? Should or should not we use meta-keywords? On a side note, there is some interesting microdata going on, in those sites.

Why I am ranking for irrelevant keywords
My website is e-commerce and used to rank for all industry related keywords like buy widgets, cheap widgets, online widgets in top10. And suddenly my website was hacked and to resolve this hacking issue i have re-write all my dynamic urls into static pages after that new pages are indexed and ranking well. But after few months i have notice few changes in keywords ranking going down. But suddenly after Google Algo (EMD/Panda) update on Sept 27 i lost all my positions. And then according to Google guidelines i have worked on over optimization and low quality pages. I have removed all tones of low quality pages from SERP and simultaneously worked on url re-write. But i have notice small percent of changes in keyword positions like when Google Algo (EMD/Panda) is rolled out i lost my keyword positions from 1st page to 200 page and after working on over optimization and low quality pages the keywords are came back to 100 pages. Recently i have notice that my web pages ranking for irrelevant keywords. For example, let's say i used to rank for home page for these keywords; buy widgets, cheap widgets, online widgets but now am ranking for different inner pages say (guide pages). Can any one suggest me whats wrong..

Creating Content for Several Local Keywords
I have a client who is in the lead generation business for a specific aesthetic service. The company basically generates leads through SEO and sells them to hundreds of local businesses across the US and Canada. There is some serious competition for the main service keyword (this is not the real keyword) e.g. “liposuction” and over the past year we have seen rankings fall significantly (from top 3 to 13-15). But... what I have found is that most of the traffic, particularly the highly converting traffic, comes from local keyword variations e.g. “liposuction in san diego”. However, these keywords are also highly competitive because there are several local businesses in these areas. How would you suggest creating content for these pages when they are all extremely similar and we need to target 100s of cities? For example the page “liposuction in san diego” is very similar to the page “liposuction in sacramento”, ect ect. Thanks for the help!

My homepage no longer ranks for a keyword, instead a page from the blog now appears in the results
Hello, Our site used to rank for a specific keyword - "eco products", with a link going to the homepage. However, in the last few weeks, we've noticed that the home page no longer ranks for this keyword, and instead the second result on the page is a link to a catagory page on our blog. I'd be very grateful if anyone had any information about why this might have happened, and what possible steps I could take to remedy the situation. Many thanks, Sophy
