Noindex follow
-
Dear all, I have two small questions for you: 1) If I have a page with many internal links, and in the head section of this page there is a noindex, follow tag, would the search engine spider the internal links placed in that page? Those internal links conduct to pages which I want the search engine to index. 2) Not related to the question above: Does it affects in any form the nofollow meta tag the way the search engine crawl internal links? I would say it onle have an effect on the exterrnal links, unless the nofollow is placed directly in the < a > tag. Thanks for your help, Daniel

Greetings te_c
To answer your first question, yes, the search engines would crawl (provided they are crawlable) the internal links linking to other pages on your site.
The second question I would like to answer but I need you to rephrase please? Do you mean robots.txt? You first question implied a meta tag, because that is what would appear in the section of a page.
If your instruction "no follow" is in the of your site, then the suggestion to the search engine is not to follow. Conversely, if the instruction is "follow" the engine is told to follow. This is irrespective of whether the links are internal or external. To my knowledge, there is no instruction that can be fed to search engines that says "crawl if internal, don't crawl is external." You can accomplish this of course with creative workarounds, but there is no "command" for it.
Also, keep in mind that these instructions for search engines are only suggestions. The engines may do something completely different and follow, or not depending on their "will."
I hope that's helpful!
Dana

So I am trying to figure out how my google rankings dropped from 3 to 9 This past week. Could it be the new HTTPS security issue? My site was created in HTTP not HTTPS. Is this an easy fix? Can I hire someone on this site to fix this?

Wordpress Tag Organization Tips
Curious if anyone has some good examples of ways to organize your WordPress tags without making your sidebar a football field long and hard to navigate. My blog is https://karmahill.com/blog and I could use some ideas. We have main categories of photo shoot types, for example, "Couples", located on the sidebar. We want to add tags to go with those main categories for further categorization and user experience example: Couples Engagement Proposals Honeymoon Maternity My question is, do I need to make "tag" pages for those posts to reside on or is their another way to get it done with less work, that is much faster? I don't want to have to make 30 tag pages or is that just what you have to do?

Thinking about redesigning site to reduce bounce rate - have a couple of questions
BACKGROUND Im looking at redesigning the website for a creative consultancy to improve the user experience. The website is mainly an image portfolio along with “press”, “our services”, “about us”, “contact” pages. I originally designed the website a few years ago and when we did, we wanted to make the image portfolio the most important feature. So we made it a full screen JS image slider with lazy loading of images, so that there are about 40 full screen images on the homepage that rotate. From a users point of view i still feel this is the best system as it very quickly allows them to browse the portfolio, which we looking for a creative consultancy is their UPS (unique selling point). The site has a very strong backlink profile compared to its competitors in the SERPS it has about 20-25% increase in PA and DA. But our site has been slipping down the rankings in recent years / months. From spot 1-2 to about spot 5-7. MY HYPOTHESIS I think that the reason the site may be dropping back in the SERP is that although its a very usable site, all its portfolio information is “too easy to find / view” and results in a user coming to our site, seeing everything they need to see, then bouncing back to the SERP. Our site has a bounce rate of 40-60%. Where as on competitors sites, their “portfolio” is a separate page off the homepage, so a users has to click through to a separate page, and even if they don't like the design content of the portfolio it doesn't get logged as a bounce. MY QUESTION Does bounce rate affect SERP ranking ? Could the sites SERP performance be improved by redesigning the site to put the portfolio on a separate page so a user would have to click through to it, if that would get the bounce rate down, would the site see a benefit even if people still clicked back to the SERP results eventually after seeing our portfolio, even though it wasn't a true 1 page bounce ? Dose time on site affect SERP ranking ? Is there a way i can see a competitor's bounce rate ? Would welcome any other thoughts inputs on this matter.

Google Translate with "no-follow" just for users' use, no ranking
Hello, I tried to search but here is a little unique situation. I would like to translate my website in 2-3 different languages not for ranking purpose, but only for some minority users within Italy to understand the content in their native language. Using "no-follow" with a Google Translate link would damage SEO? if not I would like to use it. Here are few points: Give users the ability to switch the content to their language with a link Tell Google not to follow the translated pages, because I don't want them to be used for ranking or searches I would start simply with Google Translate to see if people actually are interested, then later translate by human but still don't want google to follow I could also start with human translation instead of Google Translate if really needed, I know it is a no no. What I'm very interested is to make sure that those pages under "no-follow" won't affect my SEO in good or bad right now, because we would like to keep as it is. Thanks a lot

Affected by the Penguin 2.0...Lost Rankings!! Which one from the following causes did that?
Hi Moz Community, we lost our rankings for almost all of our keywords due to penguin 2.0 I'm trying to rectify the situation by getting our rankings back and better. Here are the potential causes for our rankings drop. 1. My Company has the exact same site (in English) on different country-specific domains. companyname.com, companyname.ch, companyname.ca, companyname.nl etc.. We are using link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="http://companyname.com" **Would this solve the duplicate content issue? ** 2. All the international domains have footer links in the homepages, pointing to our main .com site. Google webmaster tools shows that every page on these international domains as a backlink source. Would that be a problem? Should I ask our web designers to remove those footer links from the international domains? 3. In the past, our company had a partnership with forum...Like the forum promotes our company's services. I don't know how did that forum promoted our site, But Google webmaster tools shows that we have some 25K backlinks from that forum!!! But when I try to visit those backlinks, none of those pages have any links to our site....Could they be hidden? Or Some thing wrong with GWT? I'd appreciate your valuable suggestions to help us understand the situation better... Thank you.
