What is the best NAP format to use?
-
Canadian client with a suite number in a shopping center.
Does it matter if the NAP is the way it's displayed on Google Maps? Canada Post (or in the US, USPS)?
Or does it only matter that all the citations are as similar as possible to one another?
Canada Post says:
400-3033 IMMEL ST
ABBOTSFORD BC V2S 6S2But if I look that up on maps.google.com, it defaults to:
3033 Immel St Abbotsford, BC V2S 4L3, CanadaAnd the client does not appear in the list of about 20+ businesses at this address.Which should I use for Places (and I assume any other citation)?

I'm sorry, Raymond. When I replied the last sentence I saw of your post was "Or does it only matter that all the citations are as similar as possible to one another?" and did not see your examples.
Thanks for the post, though! This is an area I will be looking forward to learn more about.
Best,
Amber

Hi Raymond,
This issue with the way Google formats Canadian addresses comes up often in the Google And Your Business Forum.
See:
I would recommend that you start a thread in that forum, perhaps with Flash's name in it. Something like:
Can MM RER Flash Help My Canadian Business, Please?
Then reference the thread I've just linked to, and give full details about your situation. This is just an ongoing issue, but Flash is a high level MapMaker RER and may be able to give you actionable help with this.
Hope this helps!

I know the P (phone) matters too, but what about the A (address)? Amber, how have you decided which is the address (especially street, suite #) format that Google likes most?
Thanks for the name info -- helpful!

I try to represent our clients online just as they are seen in the real world. So, I start with some research of where the client is listed and how consistent their NAP is. Usually the biggest issue is a client's business name being listed 3 different ways:
Houston Chiropractics
Houston Chiropractics Center
The Chiropractic Center of Houston
Then compare this with the information displayed on Google Maps and ask the client what their business name would be if they had a sign or have a sign.
Once I have the official NAP I will make the edits/updates to Google+LocalPlaces page and continue on to the citations that my client is listed on.
Also, Google has been known to make calls to the business and expect to hear the business presented exactly as it is listed on it's Google+LocalPlaces page

Why Doesn't Google Use My Title Tag and Meta Description?
Hi fellow Moz SEOs, Need your URGENT help! We set an optimised title & meta description for our client websites. These titles are approved by our clients. Before somedays, they checked on Google, noticed the title & meta description were not the same. Next moment, they notified me about this issue. The title & meta description looks fine when I checked the source code. So, why Google use title & meta description differently? For example: Title approved by client: Top Specialist Divorce & Family Lawyer - Yeo & Associates LLC
International SEO | | Verz
Google set our title: Yeo & Associates LLC: Top Specialist Divorce & Family Lawyer Title approved by client: Filing For Divorce Online in Singapore | DivorceBureau®
Google set our title: DivorceBureau®: Filing For Divorce Online in Singapore Title approved by client: Halal Buffet & Bento/Packet Meals Event Caterer Singapore | Foodtalks
Google set our title: Foodtalks - Halal Buffet & Bento/Packet Meals Event Caterer Singapore Title approved by client: Child Care Centre in Singapore| Top Preschool | Carpe Diem
Google set our title: Carpe Diem: Child care Centre in Singapore| Top Preschool Every day, they are requesting me to update Google's title with their approved title. Also, asking me these questions.
Why did this happen?
Why didn't set their recommended title? Is there any way to set our approved titles? Please, help me to find the solution. ASAP Thanks in advance!0 -
How to Localise per Region (Europe, America, APAC, EMEI) and not per country as best SEO practise?
Hi SEO expertises! I am currently working with a client that initially have an English website targeting UK users but want to expand their market into four new regions (Europe, America, APAC and EMEI) keeping English as a main language. I would like to request your help here as I told the client ISO location and hreflang it will be just possible per language and they must need to localise each English region with local keywords, however I would like to double check if it will be any way (Sitemap, Hreflang) we can tell Google we are targeting per region and not per country? Thanks a lot!

Best practice for Spanish version of English website?
I'm doing an audit for a site that has all of its English pages under the same roof with Spanish pages in Wordpress. It is intended for Chicago, not Mexico. I suspect this is not a good thing, but I only have instinct to rely on here. What is the best practice for having the same website in two languages? http://www.enhancedform.com/ and http://www.enhancedform.com/spanish/

Google Analytics - whats best way to set up to track users on geotargeted sub folders & tlds ?
Hi ive got a client site just about to launch into 2 new territories (German Germany & Turkish Turkey) The existing/main site is in English & targets English keyword usage globally via domain.com and is not geotargeted in anyway. Analytics is set up for this on domain.com and tracking accurately and GWT is set up too. Now we have added a Turkish language site via a subfolder (domain.com/tr/) & the German site (domsain.com/de/) BUT this German subfolder will be domain mapped to a TLD (domain.de) eventually.. So what's best way to configure/set up Google Analytics to track users so can view the international sub-sites as individual sites etc ? (& GWT for that matter) ? Also after doing this i will be setting up in Moz Anlytics as separate campaigns so how do you set up so only draws in the Analytics data specific to these sub-folders ? All Best Dan

Multilingual site - Best choice?
Quick question for a site that has the same content but in a different language (not machine translated) on seperate pages.
International SEO | | Crunchii
Say I have:www.mydomain.com (which is in English)
www.mydomain.com/ES (which is in Spanish)
www.mydomain.com/NL (which is in Dutch) I don't want to limit the ie. Spanish to only Spain so geotargeting isn't necessary What is the best/correct setup for the pages?0 -
Is having duplicated content on different domains a problem when using alternate tag, but no canonical?
We will be launching a couple of new language versions. I understand that ccTLD is mostly considered as best option, however I thought that to start with it might be better to launch the new language version first on a subdirectory of our established domain with strong backlink profile as it may rank much better until I can attract some strong links to new ccTLD. I would wait for the pages of new language versions to be indexed on the main domain and then after a month launch the same content paralell on the ccTLD setting up an alternate tag in the main domain pointing to the ccTLD. I would not setup any canonical tag. As I understand google would rank whatever of the 2 versions ranks higher. Should not cause duplicated content issues right?

Any thoughts? EDIT:
For clarification. The language we are launching are mostly spoken in several countries. E.g. for Portuguese I would add in main domain an altnernate tag for Brazilian visitors to Brazilian ccTLD, but no alternate tag for Portuguese visitors. For Corean I would add in main domain an alternate tag for visitors in south corea, but not one for visitors in north corea.0 -

What's the best strategy for checking international rankings?
Hi There- I am looking to optimize sites serving the UK and Austrailia markets. I feel like I have a good handle on how to go about doing that, but what I am fuzzy on is, what's the best way to monitor the SERPs for the keywords I am targeting. I know based on experience that if I just search google.com.au from here in the states, my results will be 'americanized' and may/probably won't accurately reflect what someone would see if they were search from Austrailia. Are there any good tools or tactics for seeing what searchers in the countries I am focusing on woudl see? Thanks! Jason
