How good are PR for getting authority backlinks ?
-
I have heard that Press release is one of the best source for getting high authority backlinks. Can anyone tell me about benefits of paid and free services offered by PR websites like PRweb or PRLOG ?

Thanks Aditya
The reality is SEO now requires a level of quality much more challenging than ever. While this is true due to the ever-increasing capabilities of search engines in their need to battle spam (and the fact that their systems are so complex as to be far from perfect), it's also the nature of the web regardless of SEO as well.
This is because the web continues to grow in size all the time. The more crowded any market, the more important the message delivered needs to be consistent in its ability to rise above the noise.
It's a fact of marketing as old as time itself.
While some "classical" link building might still suffice, that notion is fading away. And because of this reality, my position as an advocate of best practices is that the energy expended on those methods can better be used for fewer, higher quality opportunities.
Whether we like it or not, in many situations, it means a slower building up of trust and authority, and in turn, a slower building up of ranking strength.
It also means more diversity into social signals is that much more important than ever as well.

Hi Alan ,
I read your article at SearchEngineJournal.com, very informative and gave me the answer of what i was looking for. Like you said " that PR still works if written for the traditional old school reasons", this is true for almost everything Blogs, Articles etc, however how can one produce gr8 things again and again. Does that mean our classical SEO link building will not work at all ?

Do not rely on press releases as a source of high quality back links. I recently wrote an article at SearchEngineJournal.com breaking down the issues, explaining why releases are good for SEO, how they offer value and how they do not.
Above all else, press releases are a natural and valid aspect of an overall marketing campaign, and bring many valuable opportunities. High quality / high value links however, are rare indeed from them, and only when those releases end up on highly trusted news sites, yet the overall value is diluted because they're a form of syndicated content - just about the only legitimate form of syndicated content that exists except in rare situations.
The many other values they offer, when they're very well written, and when the original intent is for original old-school reasons, far outweighs the lack of high quality links though.
Check out my article and then if you have any follow-up questions, let me know. I'll be happy to answer them.

Page Authority vs Domain Authority for Inbound Links
When executed correctly, earning links from high authority sites that are relevant to my website's industry are still valuable correct? So I want to know what is more valuable to my site and influencing the ranking of my site? Is it better to gain links that have a high page authority or domain authority? What is more valuable to my site and influencing its ranking?

Backlink Audit
Hello, I have a quick question for the MOZ readers about my companies current backlink audit. We've noticed many of the backlinks that the Google Webmaster Tool has found come from websites that are no longer in existence or have error messages. Are these websites counting negatively against us or should we ignore them? Thanks! Alex Rubin

What backlink is better?
Hi Guys I recently helped out a friend with some marketing advice and to do me a favour back he said that he'll put a link on his site back to my website. Just some background on the site, it is very high quality with DA of 71 with each blog post/inner page having roughly PA of 45, it's been online for 15 years and has nearly 4,000 indexed pages and 10,000 links. Anyway my question is would it be better to get a sitewide link in a sidebar that is displayed on every page of his website or would it be better to write a blog post on the site that links back to mine? Thanks

Can I get your expert opinion?
Hello fellow Mozzers! I've been brainstorming about getting links for my site and thought of the following scenario, let me know if its a good idea or not. Who we are: an IT consulting firm. There are many tech support forums and groups on the internet including Google, Yahoo and a few other big dogs... I thought it would be a good idea to browse them on daily basis and find questions/topics that haven't been answered or don't have any real clear good answers, or are very popular. Then create an article in the blog on our site describing the same exact problem with a solution. Then would post a response under that question/topic with a link back to the solution that is located on our site. Hoping that this will bring in more traffic, links, and authority... However I also thought about the possibility of getting spammed, since there are many spam sites that scrape forums and groups for web site addresses, email addresses, phones, etc... So what do you guys think, is it a good idea or should I stay away? Thank you!

Authority versus Content in Linkbuilding
Hi there, I am rather new to linkbuilding and reach out to various sites at the moment. The interest in linking to us is very high and now I sometimes get the question where on a particular page I'd like to be linked to from. I then do a check in opensiteexplorer to find out about the authority of the various subpages. Yet, how do I decide if one subpage has more authority while another one has more relevancy for us (in terms of the content being provided there being more related to ours)? Thanks for your recommendations! Best regards, Tobias
