Rel Author

Should I be linking to the author's G+ profile or their Google Places for the rel author tag? It's my understanding that Google Plus profile is different from G Places and hence two different urls.
If I'm linking to the profile page of the author and not their Google Places, does this have any negative impact in terms of SEO?

The Rel Author tag is used to link content created by an individual (on a blog, for instance) to the author's personal G+ profile. Andy is correct, the author needs to specify in their G+ profile that they area contributor to the site (thereby linking back to the site where their content is) to complete the author verification process.
You should not use Rel Author in conjunction with Google Places.
Hope this helps!

author = person
publisher = person or place
- to your other question using the authoring "script" is an addon / seo and so would likely improve things in general but not doing it wont mean you get marked down (you just wont be marked up). The other thing to think about is linking to a persons profile ensure they list themselves within G+ as a contributor to your site (this helps activate the profile pics in search and lets google know you site is trustworthy, assuming that person is).

Rel=Publisher On Business Blog
Hello! We were just wondering if we can add the Rel=Publisher on our business blog? We would like to have any of our blog posts that rank to have the small thumbnail/logo of our business similar to the way the rel=author tag works in the serps. All posts are published by our business and we would not like any of our personal pictures showing up. Any help greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Authorship not working despite code showing rel=author
When you run this page through the rich snippet testing tool, it says the page doesn't contain authorship markup. Problem is, a look at the code shows rel = author has been properly added, and the author has listed the domain as a site he contributes to. Hopefully someone in the forum can tell me what I'missing? Why isn't authorship effective here?

Does Pinterest's javascript removes rel="nofollow" ?
It's late and I might be seeing things disappear...but I noticed something strange with a Pin It button we added in our website: I added a rel="nofollow" to the <a href="">for Pinterest, however when I use the html inspector in IE or Firefox, and inspect the attributes of the link, 'rel=nofollow' is nowhere to be found.</a> <a href="">Did anyone notice this?

Does Pinterest's javascript remove the 'rel' attribute? (looks like it's the case)
How does google treats this? Do they interpret the .js and ignore the 'rel=nofollow'? I hope it's a technical error on my end, otherwise thousands of website owners are being tricked into believing that they added a rel=nofollow, when in fact it's just being removed behind the scene.</a>0 -
Rel=publisher
I've had the rel=publisher set up correctly for months now and verified it using the Google rich snippet tool. For some reason when I search my site/brand the Google+ profile will not show? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to have it show up? Thanks!

Rel Publisher Tag is showing in SERPS, with Rel Author Picture
Hi, This is occurring on a few of my pages on a website I manage. Our homepage, which only has the correct rel publisher code to our brand Google+ page, just started this weekend showing with Rel Author rich snippet. Also, a test with Google's rich snippet testing tool shows the correct Brand Page and Logo, not authorship. Only is SERPS does it show incorrectly Has anyone had this happen, and how did you overcome?

Is it wise for employees to be tied to a company's content with rel=author?
We're an e-commerce company that sells consumer goods. We are launching a blog that will have advice, tips, etc. on topics related to our industry. I'd like for us to implement rel=author on the content. If we rel=author the content to an employee, what are the possible repercussions if that employee leaves the company? I know the markup is pretty new and hasn't been widely implemented, but has anyone dealt with this?
