Keyword cannibalization
-
I ran the SEOMoz onpage diagnostic, and i got an alert for keyword cannibalization. My taxonomy is:
www.mysite.com/category (category page)
www.mysite.com/category/category-keyword (supporting page)
Links will be exact match in the primary navigation.
www.mysite.com anchor text "category" => www.mysite.com/category
www.mysite.com anchor text "category keyword" => www.mysite.com/category/category-keyword
www.mysite.com/category anchor text "category keyword" => www.mysite.com/category/category-keyword
and example would be /IT-support linking with anchor text "IT Support Servers" => /IT-Support/IT-Support-Servers
I'm not going to have a cannibalization problem, am I?

Hi Rahul, you shouldn't have any cannibalization issue, but the high repetition of a keyword of you category may led google to sometimes show your category keyword page instead of the category one if it's capable to achieve enough value.
As an example looking at the /IT-Support/IT-Support-Servers page why not making that
/IT-Support/Servers
in that sense you won't be repeating so much your keywords there, which is less spammy, shorter and cleaner both for google and for users.

Keyword research
Could some give me an example on how they do keyword research because I have tried many things and it doesn't work. Here is what I tried : Let's take a keyword " Alsace bike tours" I go to the keyword tool, lisgraph, ubersuggest, google keyword tool, and type "Alsace bike tours" Thos tools spit me phrases such as : "bike from colmar to riquewihr, "alsace vineyard cycle route", alsace cycle routes. I write my content and integrate those expressions in it. In my content I add words that relate to alsace such as Strasbourg, Colmar, the wine route etc... I wait and weeks later see no change in ranking.. What I am missing ? Thank you,

Keyword before location: Do you notice a big difference in performance?
Frequently in Moz, I see that the keywords that use "KEYWORD LOCATION " have higher volume than "LOCATION KEYWORD." For example, "chinese food Austin" is 201-500, while "Austin chinese food" is 11-50. I'm interested in your experiences targeting one variation of this type of keyword over the other. Are you seeing that using the exact match matters? Even if the order of K+L versus L+K does matter, do you find that near matches, like "chinese food in Austin", work just as well? Concrete examples of performance would be fantastic.

Keyword research and bullet style format
Hi, If my keyword is SEO consultant when I write a paragraphs with with my secondary related keywords do I always need to have my primary keyword used in the secondary keywords. "SEO consultant prices", "SEO consultant training" etc.. or can I just surround my primary keyword with the words with the words "prices" and "training" in a sentence ? In a bullet style format if my title is SEO consultant, do the bullet need to include the secondary keyword with the primary keyword in it or not like that SEO consultant SEO consultant training* SEO consultant prices or can it be like that SEO consultant Training* Prices Thank you,

Should we go after this main keyword?
Hello, We run an online store. The main content keyword for our niche is very competitive, but if I was going to go look up information and I was one of our customers, that is exactly what I would type in - this main general keyword. We have an expert in the field to write it and plenty of time. Although the main keyword is competitive, there are many many subkeywords that are a lot less competitive that would be answered in the article. It's tough to find good topics in this niche. We're thinking about doing a "Complete Guide to X". We would have far less backlinks and authority for about half of the 30 keywords it will cover than our main competitors. Should we do this and spend the next couple of years working on it, or should we perhaps target a smaller topic? Any advice is appreciated.

Optimized pages ranking lower than homepage with keywords
Ok, I know this question has been out there before, but i don't know how fo search for it specifically enough. I have several keywords that rank higher on my home page. As you know MOZ assigns keywords to whichever page on your site popping up in search first. So even though i have A-grade optimized pages for a particular keyword, that page may not pop up BEFORE the homepage for instance, on searches. In many cases, the homepage is grade "F" for a particular keyword, yet its pulling up first for most of my keywords. I know that my homepage has more rank because it gets the most visits and i'm sure we can't really optimize the homepage for EVERY keyword. What is the best thing to do in this situation? Do i just need to wait for my optimized page to catch up in rank, or is there a trick to optimizing homepage to ALL key words at grade "A" level? Do i need to keep back-linking to my optimized page directly to get the juice up? I created all these great optimized pages for specific keywords, but my homepage which shows "F" grade is the one pulling up 4th or 5th on searches Help??
