Why is this link from a .edu source not being counted?

We are wondering why a powerful edu link is not being counted in opensiteexplorer. Is it not being indexed? Or is it some other issue? It shows up in webmaster tools and is a PR 5 link. Let us know if you have any ideas on this issue!

James, OSE only crawls a portion of the web. Even Google can not technically crawl the entire web. There's almost an infinite amount of information and web pages out there. So as long as it's cached in Google, which it is, I wouldn't worry about it. Eventually it will show up. The good news you shared is the fact that it shows up in webmaster tools. You are good.

Is it a new link? You may have to wait till OSE's next update, which looks like it'll be on May 20.

Reviewing a list of links from webmaster console for a client and there are links to their website which render a page but there' s no mention of the clients website on that page. Why does this happen? Why is Google thinking that there is a link to the clients website yet on the page there is no mention of that clients website. Someone answered me on Google plus but just to confirm. If I have a pet shop in one city and ranking well local. But want to rank even better in the surrounding cities. Which is better - A) links from multiple IP addresses, or B) Links with more associated social signals?
If you had to choose: A) 100 links contained in posts on 100 PR2* blogs, all on separate IP addresses, where none of the posts had associated social signals, or B) 100 links contained in posts within a single PR2* blog (single IP address), where each of the posts had 20 associated social signals, Which would you choose to increase your SERP performance? *I chose PR2 so that PageRank would not be a factor in the decision.

Back links not being found
I am working on optimizing a client site that was launched in January of 2011. A number of back links are starting to show up when I do a competitive link analysis, however in Google WMT the only IBLs that are showing up are from the non-www of the domain, even though I have a 301 redirect from danwilson.ca to www.danwilson.ca (and has since the site launched). I also have verified the non-www version with WMT and declared the perfered domain as www.danwilson.ca. Any ideas why the non-www domain links are being shown as inbound links by Google WMT rather than internal links. This likely means the site is getting dinged for duplicate content...
