Google+ for Business

Google+ has thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into my SEO plans. Over the last few weeks, Google+ listings started showing up in the SERPs for my money keywords. The good news is that once we launch our new site, we have a good chance of getting into the Google+ 7 packs. The bad news is that SEO on a national level just got tougher with the local Google+ listings crowding natural listings down the page.
Questions:
1. How does Google+ determine who goes into the 7 pack?
2. Is there always a 7 Pack? Can there only be a 4 pack?
3. I see Google+ listings for companies that don't have a Google+ page. How is that possible?
4. Through my keyword research, I have about 20 keywords that are triggering Google+ listings in the SERPs. Some SERPs are only showing 2-4 G+ listings. Is it safe to assume that this is because no one has put those keywords in their Google+ description, and hasn't optimized for those words on their site? -
1. by authority, local citations, reviews, frequent updates, interaction as a brand (posting and interacting as the brand itself on Google +).
2. I've seen 7 and i've seen less I think it depends on the search query and device, mobile vs. pc etc...
3. Can you share a link?
4. No, because if you check the map it will show more results. Perhaps Google does not think others deserve to be there.

Can no longer access my google + profile
A marketing firm set up my google + profile for my company a year ago. They no longer have the access to the account, and i need to either shut it down, or be able to access it and make some changes. Google+ Author Troubleshooting Advice
Buon Giorno from wetherby 🙂 Ok a week or so ago i went thhrough the hoops of seeting up a Google+ authorship link with the hope my beautifull & click worthy face would appear in the serps. But after following the following steps: 1. Link from www.davidclick.com to https://plus.google.com/u/0/114149997094688010790 using rel author e.g.: [https://plus.google.com/u/0/114149997094688010790](<a href=)" target="_blank">Find me on Google+ 2 Link back from Google plus by pointing back to www.davidclick.com in the Google+ contributor section Nothing has happened ie no picture in my SERP listing, click here for illustration:

How do I implement a Google + campaign?
What is the best way to start a Google + campaign? Has anyone had any success with getting G+ for a local niche site? From what I hear there are tremendous seo benefits with Google + . Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Google News Application
I am wondering what I can do to get my site into Google News. I have followed their guidelines but had my site declined. I have a news sitemap, a staff page, a contact page with all info provider, etc etc. But my application was denied. One my largest competitors just got accepted so I would love to get in.
