Wordpress Domain Options
-
We'd like to add more content to our ecommerce site so are considering adding a wordpress blog. Which domain option is the best for SEO?
-
Generally domain.com/blog is the best option. Using that structure will help you build the value of domain.com.
-
Cutts will break it down for you.
I always opt for subfolder for the time sensitivity in setup, unless, for usability there needs to be clear separation from the main site and the purpose of the additional site.

Agree with Takeshi

domain.com/blog is probably the best option, since Google often treats subdomains (blog.domain.com) as separate sites. By having your blog in a subdirectory, any link value it accrues will benefit your main site as well.
-
Regardless of whether you choose blog.domain.com or domain.com/blog you should definitely keep your blog on your personal domain. This is where you will have the best opportunity to create new and engaging content on a regular basis.
Ideally, your blog content will be popular on occasion and other people in similar industries will tweet and/or share your link in one way or another. This will gain you backlinks and bring traffic to your domain. Better they point to and land on your domain than wordpress.com.

Marcy,
I would be Leary of the answer if anyone chose one domain over the other. Perhaps they have something to gain by doing so. I believe the best answer to be "Do your homework". You might start by using SeoMoz to find information about each of the domains you chose.
First go to http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ and check out each of the options you chose. Which has the highest domaine authority? Where are these competing domains going to place your blog? If it is on a "No Follow" page then what good is the blog doing you? Or if your blog is located on a high Domain authority website say 80, but your blog ends up on a page authority of 3 verses on a Domain authority website of 65 but a page authority of 45
Each of the parameters listed on SeoMoz have a high degree of importance to your SE results. Check out each of your blog hosting choices to help you estimate how highly ranked your blog might be.

Country domain but multi-language
Hi all, We are a fullservice internet firm working from the Netherlands. Because of that we are working on a .nl domain. All related domains internationally are taken. Currently on Microdesign.nl we only write dutch, but we have a lot of Magento and e-commerce knowledge which is related to all customers, we also get some international attention for our extensions, themes and content. The thing is, what to do when i want to maintain more languages. (dutch and english). Would microdesign.nl/en or en.microdesign.nl rank internationally. or should i keep microdesign.nl due to the current ranking and get a .com kind of domain working with hreflang? many thanks in your insights.

Starting a Blog. New Domain vs integrated in a shop domain?
Hi everybody, We are going to start a blog for posting about topics related to our online shop and its products. Our question is... what is better in terms of SEO.... Creating it in a new domain and linking to our online store when neccessary, or integrating it in our actual online shop and take advantage of our visitors? Thank you very much in advance! Best Regards

I started a Wordpress blog, google indexed it...
How long before I can see those links show up in SEO Moz for my website? What elements is SEO Moz looking for before they add the wordpress site to my linking domains report? Regards, Jeff

With the structure of WordPress when multiple tags are selected, SEOMoz reports show each URL/tag as duplicated content? What to do?
wordpress.com/blogpost/tag/word1 wordpress.com/blogpost/tag/word 2 etc. Same page, but WP generates multiple URLs for each tag. in reports, this shows as duplicate content. Is it something to worry about? If yes, what is the best fix?

Related posts Wordpress plugin
Hi, I was wondering what Wordpress plugin you are using to add related posts to your blog posts. I would need one that allows you to pick the related posts manually and doesn't break the on-page SEO. Thank you! George

Wordpress Security and Alternatives
No matter how secure we try to make our wordpress blogs they still got hacked. We recently got hacked(server level hacking, javascript insertion that took our server down, through the askimet plugin), anyway there was nothing really showing in the front end, no inserted links and nothing suspicious looking code. Oh well we are changing the passwords now and going through and deleting the javascript. The problem im facing is that i am handling over 100 blogs, so its very time consuming to do this. I know that once or twice a year everyone goes through a wordpress crisis but we really cant afford nor have the resources to fix it all the time. Are there any alternatives to wordpress blogs(as good as wordpress). Wordpress has been showing good results so far so it works as far as SEO goes, but we are trying to figure out what to do in order to not get hacked. Besides alternatives id like to know if there are any work arrounds to not get hacked with little maintenance needed. Any tips?

Images for WordPress
I'd be grateful for any advice regarding sourcing, adding & attributing images/photos for my WordPress blog. Budget is tight so have to rule out paid stock libraries, but I heard that Flickr images can be used under Creative Commons providing they are correctly attributed. eg. http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/business-of-it/2011/04/07/mps-criticise-bbc-siemens-38m-contract-failure-40092428/ eg 2. http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/networking/2011/10/05/bt-lines-up-300mbps-broadband-launch-40094109/ Example 1 does not seem to link back but example 2 does. Are there any rules on this? I have looked at some plugins: Insights, iFlickr, WP Flickr Manager, Photo Dropper. Looking to save time by streamlining the process of adding images, resizing and attributing. Many thanks.
