It's weird actually - Google Analytics uses IP even when it has better data available.
If I am logged in to Google and have my location accurately set to my home town (Hayling Island - yeah I know... never heard of it), I will still show on Google Analytics as being in London. It's easy to check that using real-time analytics.

Thanks for getting bk to me.. confirms what i suspected

I think you have to take it with a big pinch of salt. I know Virgin media in N.Ireland shows their customers as London (ip address wise), Not even the correct Island!!
-
Yes (as you know), Google Analytics figures out the visitor's locations from their IP addresses and where ISP assign those ranges. Google also says:
"For web visitors, Location is derived from mapping IP addresses to geographic locations. City location may not be accurate for visits from mobile devices."
How accurate this is? Who knows but possibly the ISP...

Why is Indeed.com traffic appearing as organic in Google Analytics?
A large number of sessions in my client's Google Analytics account appear to come from medium: organic and source:Indeed. Since I'm focused on SEO for this project, I'd prefer that Indeed be treated as referral traffic. Any ideas for fixing this issue? Also, and I'm sure the answer is no, is there a way to fix the past data in Google Analytics that has already reported Indeed as an organic medium?

Does Google need Analytics installed to create metrics?
Hi Mozers, Does Google know time on site, number of page visits, bounce rate, etc. even if Google Analytics is NOT installed? Does it measure all that stuff anyway, and if you install the GA code on your site, that is so that YOU can see those metrics? OR can Google only see those metrics if you install GA on your site? Thanks! Jane

Google Analytics goals only show unique event triggers
I have some goals in GA which is linked to different event triggers. However I've found out that the goal is only showing the unique event triggers and not the total. I need it to show the total in order to be accurate. Is there any way to switch that option? I can't find any options like that in GA or guides to do so.

Installing Google Analytics tracking code on Landing Pages
Hello, I have my landing pages located on a separated subdomain (LP.example.com). I've created a new property in Google Analytics for that subdomain. My question is: where do I have to place the GA tracking code ? in the header ? before I close the tag or before I close the tag ? I have another issue: I've placed the GA Tracking code on some pages in the way below:

SEOMoz crawls skewing Avg Visit Duration in Google Analytics
Hello, We are a UK based company. Our Google Analytics account is showing a rise in Avg Visit Duration for 'Direct traffic' since we started using SEOMoz. Are any other users experiencing this issue? We tracked it down to City Seattle, and when doing an Advanced filter by removing Seattle, the results are normal again. What does SEOMoz or other users recommend we do besides continuously using advanced filters? We have enquired about excluding Roger's IP address, but have been told that Roger uses the Amazon cloud, so the IP is not static. See attachment for screenshot of our Google Analytics account of Avg Visit Duration since we began with SEOMoz. Rich Talbot 718g3.gif

Google Analytics Alternatives
I am getting really fed up with how unreliable Google Analytics data is. Also, because I have several large sites I can't use the goal tracking or conversion funnel reports. What are the best alternatives to Google Analytics?
