How to get Google to re-recognize a backlink that used to go to a 404?

I recently rebuilt my website last year, the address is enjoyparkcity.com. I used to have a great link from cnbc.com at http://www.cnbc.com/id/34977253/page/5, but when I rebuilt my website, that landing page url no longer existed (http://www.enjoyparkcity.com/search_featured.html). I recently rebuilt a page to catch that link again, and it works fine. Is there a way for Google to re-recognize it? I think its a normal do=follow link so Im guessing it should be valuable? Hoping it could help my rankings? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ben, Thanks for the help too. I did a post about the cnbc page on google+, not too long ago, so I'm sort of waiting for it all to match up again. Thanks for the advice and help!

What Chris is suggesting is 100% correct. I would add 2 things.
1. Submit your page in a post on Goolge+ ( force a recrawl of the page ) http://www.enjoyparkcity.com/search_featured.html
2. Do the same for http://www.cnbc.com/id/34977253/page/5 ( add some unique commentary about the link that is not promotional )

Sorry, I meant that you should be sure to link to the new URL that you created not the one on cnbc. I'd say you're probably better off not to reciprocate the link they have to you. Google will eventually match everything up.

Google's going to know recognize that there again is a page at that URL once it crawls the new page (via a link on your page or somewhere else) and put one and one back together again. Be sure to link to that page from other locations on your site--the home page is always a good place to link from.

Not sure which url to use for backlinks
Hi our site, northamericahvac.com automatically goes to http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront. There isnt anything I can do about it though, because we use prostores which limits things for us. That leads me to ask, when I'm making backlinks would I use northamericahvac.com www.northamericahvac,com, or http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront.

Definition of a backlink

Backlinks, how do you get them?
Recently, I listed our site on a few directory's which I deemed as not spammy and had good domain authority (competitors were using these). This was about 2 weeks ago and have not seen them come up as a backlink using open site explorer? I was wondering whether i'm missing something out here or does it take longer than 2 weeks to gain a backlink from a website? Thanks in advance.

How do you use a blog to help SEO.
Hi, So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content. From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? My google rankings went down
I've been working with a company to get some incoming links since April 2011. We are targeting only 2 keywords. For one keyword I was ranked number 1 until a couple of weeks ago. In fact, most of my rankings went down including those keywords that the company was not working on. They are writing 5 articles per month and posting them to their proprietary network. Could those backlinks could harmed my rankings?

If someone formats a link like so: http://www.somedomain.com/keyword1-keyword2/keyword3.php Would you still get a similar anchor text benefit to this link as if it was formated like so: somedomain keyword1 keyword2 keyword3 what i mean is, does google extract out keywords from links that use the url as the anchortext?
