Educational and Governmental ref. backlinks/domains

I have two question in my mind, decided to first time post and ask the community for better information.
1-How important Educational and Govermental Ref Domains/backlinks are? Shell we try to gain them? Or they are just like the others backlinks/domains?
2-When we break down the backlinks to Images-textlinks. What percent of backlinks should be images? (for info my website has 97 percent textlink and 3 percent image backlinks)

WIth reference to your question on edu & gov backlinks, it wouldn't be worth spending a lot of your effort on gaining them. Matt Cutts mentioned once in a video response that .edu & .gov backlinks do not necessarily worth more than .com links (http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2010/01/do-you-still-care-about-gov-or-edu-links.html).
Besides, it is important to obtain more backlinks from sites related to your business/niche, as compared to getting backlinks from edu & gov pages which have no relation to your business/niche. It won't help much in building up your site's authority if you go for the latter.

IMHO .edu and .gove links if acquired in the right manner without any spamming tactics or redirects are still very effective for link building.

The percentage of image links really depends on your vertical. If you own a photography site, it might so happen that a high percentage of your links would be from images shared on different sites across the net. The keyword here is "natural". If it appears natural for your site to have a high percentage of inbound links from images, then you should not have anything to worry about.

Multiply Sites / Back Links / i.p Address ?
Hi We are building a business that has multiple locations in multiple cities in the UK. We want to build a network of geographical based websites for each location / city we have a office in that we service. We are going to build about 50 sites (Standalone on their own domain) to cover all the main cities, and one main company site. The idea with the 50 x sites is to benefit from google local searches and a local location. With the 50 x sites they would all back link to the main website, so would they need to all be on seperate i.p address and hosting to get the back link to count? or can they be all hosted on the same i.p address? Obviously it would be useful to get 50 x back links from relevant sites we are just trying to work out the best to way to do this. Thanks for any advice

Backlinks and Domain Authority
Hi there, I have a question on backlinks. I have seen conflicting stories about it, and hoping someone with a vast amount of experience will be able to help me (If you could please be so kind). Now I understand the difference between 'no-follow' links and 'follow' links. I have accumulated quite a few 'no-follow' links through things like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc. I understand that they won't feed my site authority or trust; or anything of that sort (I do work on content too, and have gotten a few follow links, don't worry). Now I have seen conflicting answers to the actual importance of them. Some things I have read are saying that SEs completely ignore them (NFL), and they don't even consider them a 'link', but rather a user tool to further the experience of the reader on your site. Which is fair enough, but then people are turning around and also saying that Google relies heavily on them, and they only make up 5% of the internet or something. I have even read something saying they are the only ones worth getting (I know that is bs, but they must have a reason behind this thought?). If someone could enlighten me as to a 'ideal' ratio, and also any little known authoritative sites I could look at submitting content to. I am in the plumbing business, and doing my own sites, so I'm no expert. Also, what are the importance of comment links? I don't go for them, but don't know if I should? Ways to remove spammy backlinks
Hello everyone, I got hit with an algorithm penalty and need to start removing old backlinks ASAP. Does anyone have any good resources on how best to ask webmasters for removal? Are there any other ways to remove bad back links besides the disavow tool? (An SEO consultant I talked to said that they had a proprietary software that can remove them - is that possible?) Backlinking unclarities.
Hello, I'm trying to get external links from different websites. http://www.meubels.uwpagina.nl/ is one of them. Now what I am wondering is that 95% of the links on that page arent paid links. The paid links are in bold. To get a link for free on that website you need to place a link on your page to that page. This is not alloud by google, and if you do so you will get a penalty. How do all those websites manage to do it? They obviously know it is not alloud, but still they managed somehow to do this without getting penalized. Can someone clarify this for me? Domain authority through blogs
So, I was looking at my competiton, and noticed that they have 4 times the amount of link that my page has. I noticed that they made a blog on almost every free blog hosting available (like webs.com, jimdo.com, .weebly.com...) And every blog has a high domain authority (and poor content) with links to their page. Is this helping with their domain authority? Should i do if for my page too? Thank, M.

Best way to set up a support site - sub domain, separate site or com/support?
My company is setting up our support site. It has been suggested that we set it up as a separate domain - www.company-support.com, rather than setting it up as a sub-domain (www.support.company.com) or the usual www.company.com/support. The person who proposed this believes it wlll create link juice, but i wonder if splitting the traffic will create more harm than good? Opinions please!

Best way to index backlinks
We have created many high authority back links for our clients and after several months we have noticed 10% or so have actually been indexed (via multiple sources). I am trying to find a way to easily get these backlinks indexed. There is a bunch of software out there, some create RSS feeds and others social bookmark these pages. Any suggestions?
