Newspaper Article Placement Services
-
Has anyone here used Newspaper Article Placement Services or NAPS as they are commonly called? I was looking for a way to generate direct traffic to the site and our demographic still reads a fair amount of the printed word.
My concern is that if these items get into the websites of these newspapers I could run into a duplicate issue. We have some quality writers who can generate some great content that we already use on our site. We are looking for a way to expand into the printed world.
Thanks!

I would select a few key publications and send them a press release - make sure it's actually newsworthy though. Although many people go online for things, plenty of people still read papers and they still have influence. If you have only sent out a small number of releases, the chances of running into duplicate content issues are not that high - they don't all put their content on the web. Often, they will also re-write the info you supply so that it matches their own style, so it won't be the words you wrote anyway (apart from quotes which will not be changed).
If the content isn't on your own site, it is even less of a problem in terms of duplicate content.
A newspaper article can help with brand awareness and even if readers don't type in a URL to go to your website, they may search for you online instead because they remember your brand.
I wouldn't discount papers quite yet. Try it and if it works, keep going. If the time turns out to be not worth it, invest efforts elsewhere.
You should be able to find out the newsdesk email addresses by going to the website of the publication you are interested in.

I am going to second the point EGOL made here! These is rear when you read something in papers and then go to internet and see what that website do and more.... I think the budget you have you should invest more on online advertising to generate related traffic back to the website.
If offline marketing is the only choice (almost impossible in the real world!) then try to market your website through attractive and catchy billboards!

You are correct. If lots of your articles are published lots of times on other sites this will create a problem for you - especially if the newspaper sites are more powerful than yours.
**We have some quality writers who can generate some great content that we already use on our site. **
I would double this effort and not worry about the printed word.

How often do you read something in the newspaper and go to a suggested website. I bet that happens infrequently. So, from a "conversion rate" perspective, I would invest more in my website.
If you are trying to spread the word beyond your site, get your article shared on Facebook and twitter. If your articles are really good that should generate a ton of buz and some traffic. If that isn't happening then your content might not be as good as you think it is.

Traffic goes down after migration from aws to Microsoft azure cloud service
After migration of web application from aws ec2 instance to Microsoft azure web App service, we observed that we lost our 50% traffic. Our site custom domain is ihealthmantra.com and azure web App has default domain azurewebsites.net . Azure WebApp service has drawback that default domain gets in picture after mapping to my custom domain .We have mapped azure webAPP host name to our custom domain as CNAME record in DNS Table . Now same site working with two domains i.e ihealthmantra.com as well ass azurewebsites.net . As we seen this issues we made 301 redirection from azure default domain to our custom domain, Still no change in traffic.Google is now showing external links from azurewebsites.net to healthmantra.com . We are totally confused now . We don't know what exactly affected to our search traffic . Please Help us.

Is this a true rel=nofollow for the whole article? "printfriendly.com" is part of the URL which is why I'm confused.
Is the rel=nofollow tag on this article a true NoFollow for the whole article (and all the external links to other sites in the article), or is it just for a specific part of the page? Here is the article: https://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/americans-are-not-ready-for-retirement/ The reason I ask is that I'm confused about the code since it has "printfriendly.com..." as a portion of the URL. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

JSON-LD meta data: Do you have any rules/recommendations for using BlogPosting vs Article?
Dear Moz Community. I'm looking at moving from in-line Microdata in the HTML to JSON-LD on the web pages that I manage. Seems a far simpler solution having all the meta data in one place - especially for trouble shooting! With this in mind I've started to change the page templates on my personal site before I tackle the ones for my eCommerce site. I've made a start, and I'm still working on the templates producing some default values (like if a page doesn't have an associated image) but have been wondering if any of you have any rules/recommendations for using BlogPosting vs Article? I'd call this type of page an Article:

Is the sun online newspaper right with their home page
Hi, i made my home page shorter here www.in2town.co.uk because a couple of people on here said i should shorten my home page but i have noticed that the sun newspaper and other online newspapers have now made their home page longer, is this a good idea or a bad idea. Here is the sun newspaper http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/ The reason why i done it in the first place was to allow as much info to be on the home page as possible, showing all the different sections on my site and allow google to see as well as our visitors how often the site gets updated. I would love to hear your thoughts on if we should make our home page longer again like the sun newspaper or if you think this is a bad idea.

My Article Post Title in both the h1 and the h2 are the same. Is this good seo?
I'm seeing a common practice in wordpress themes where the h1 tag for a page has the logo in it, then the h2 would be the title to the article. I've decided to place the title in the h1 dynamically, like this: - Joe's Auto Store where '' is the actual title to the post - the logo is still being used as a background image in the h1... So for example, the page would show this: How install a car battery - Joe's Auto Store I think this is good seo still, but the other issue is that the first, subsequent also has the exact same title because this is the actual post title, which uses the first h2 on the page to display the title. So the code would look like this: - My Company paragraph content text stuff an example would be How install a car battery - Joe's Auto Store How install a car battery At Joe's we teach how to install batteries on site. There are mor...(etc.) Is this an issue since the post title in both the h1 and h2 are nearly the same (except for the company name)? Is this good seo still?

Moving articles to new site, can't 301 redirect because of panda
I have a site that is high quality, but was hit by penguin and perhaps panda. I want to remove some of the articles from my old site and put them on my new site. I know I can't 301 redirect them because I will be passing on the bad google vibes. So instead, I was thinking of redirecting the old articles to a page on the old site which explains that the article is moved over to the new site. I assume that's okay? I'm wondering how long I should wait between the time I take them down from the old site to the time I repost them on the new site. Do I need to wait for Google to de-index them in order to not be considered duplicate content/syndication? We'll probably reword them a bit, too - we really want to avoid panda. Thanks!

Schema for Price Comparison Services - Good or Bad?
Hey guys, I was just wondering what the whole schema.org markup means for people that run search engines (i.e. for a niche, certain products) or price comparison engines in general. The intend behind schema.org was to help the engines better understand the pages content. Well, I guess such services don't necessarily want Google to understand that they're just another search engine (and thus might get thrown out of the index for polluting it with search result pages). I see two possible scenarios: either not implement them or implement them in a way that makes the site not look like an aggregator, i.e. by only marking up certain products with unique text. Any thoughts? Does the SEOmoz team has any advice on that? Best,
