Should You Create A Transcript of Podcasts
-
SEOMoz creates transcripts of videos, but would you recommend creating a text transcript if you create a podcast that is 15 minutes or longer?
-
Definitely! You get the obvious HUGE SEO benefit mentioned previously - AND you are also improving the visitor experience - as they get all of the additional benefits that text gives you i.e the transcription can be read on low bandwidth connections, devices with no video support, downloaded to be read later, printed for reference, translated into other languages.
Be sure to give consideration to accessibility to disabled users too! A text transcription allows hearing impaired users to access your content - be mindful of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act - Comliance with the dda is a legal requirement in the UK, From http://www.disability.gov.uk/dda/smefinal.html
What happens if I fail to make reasonable adjustments? You might be breaking the law. A disabled person can make a claim against a provider whose services are impossible or unreasonably difficult for him or her to access.)Additionally you can add links to other relevant pages within your site using the anchor text generated...
If your video content is longer than 15 minutes because it is genuinely good content then it is worth transcribing all of it. Don't forget you can omit any parts of the transcription that may not be that engaging.

I read the transcripts of WBF quite often. If I want to check it out on my break at work, I may not want the whole office listening in to the video. And then there are other times where I just want to skim the content of the transcript to decide whether I want to put the time into watching the video.
-
Just think of how often you have really read the video transcript of the wbf videos .... probably, hardly ever you do - they're basically for the search engines, to be able to index your video according to the content you're talking about.
By the way, as transcripts are usually "spoken language", by transcribing podcasts you cover tons of search phrases you wouldn't normally publish in an article - but these are phrases people DO use when searching.
-
Yes! The whole idea is to populate your page with keywords for the search engines to see. You may have the best content in the world on your video, but Google won't know it unless it is in typed words on the page.
-
Absolutely! How could you possibly resist all of that content? salivating

Updating Content - Make changes to current URL or create a new one?
I'm working with a content team on a job search guide for 2019. We already have a job search guide for 2018. Should we just edit the content of the job search guide for 2018 to make it current for 2019, which means the job search guide for 2018 would not exist anymore or should we keep the 2018 guide and just create a new web page for the 2019 guide that way both exist. We currently rank very well for the 2018 job search guide.

Creating a Landing Page
Ok, ,quick question. A client is launching a new product. Would you recommend creating a landing page (off main domain) such as: productname.com ---- and this page would have product information and would be a landing page for a possible PPC campaign. A link would be included to their main website to purchase product. or would you include the new product on their main website (companysite.com) in the appropriate product category? Is there any benefits to having it on it's own domain? SEO benefits?

Question about SUB DOMAIN. step 1 says enter your subdomain? Create 1st campaign.
Does that mean the article in my blog address bar link? I have a blog with many posts focussed on different keywords. What does step 1 mean for me? Does it mean I should publish my post on my blog - copy the url in the address bar - and then enter it in SUBDOMAIN? Your help is appreciated. Thanks

Is it possible to over create/post content?
My company has signed up with a vendor to help write content. They are going to be supplying 50 articles per month so we'd basically be adding 2 or more articles per day. Is that too much or is that okay as long as it's quality content?

I have created 2 blogs for a client as they have 2 domains (1 for their core business, and 1 for a product). I want to use the same content on both blogs. What is the best way to set this up so there are no ranking or duplicate content issues?
We are pushing SEO for only one of the domains, therefore I would like one to be dominant. We will be sending the blog post via email to their database, therefore each blog needs to have the same content. Thank you!

Is Creating a Lot of Content A Bad SEO Strategy?
In Danny Dover's book, Search Engine Optimization Secrets, he talks about how every page on your site should be at least a little linkworthy, or it is just sucking link juice from the rest of the site and not contributing any. Does this mean that creating a lot of content, (like a daily news article on your site that summarizes industry news or something similar) is not a good SEO strategy? Should you limit the amount of content pages on your site unless it can attract links or hits on one of your target keywords? Thanks!
