A newbie to this forum...hope have put the question the right way
What is a good way/source to find which directories are suitable for a business. How to identify directories which are more localised..

You can also get similar results to GetListed with yext.com you dont have to subscribe to their service but can see the results of local listings, that need adding and fixing. Check it out see if you are happy with the results for Canada

Also analyzing the competitors linking root domains will give some valuable info related with the directories or websites that you can place your links.

My please, Mohit. Yes, unfortunately, GetListed isn't currently operational in Canada right now. The results were returning too many errors (see: https://getlisted.org/static/international.html). Hopefully, it will be available in the near future. Whitespark should work great for you, though. They are Canadian-based.

Hi Mohit,
GetListed is, in my opinion, the best place to get started on building your initial citations. For more advanced work, a paid tool like Whitespark's (which Vadim has linked to) is a very popular choice. Your question seems to indicate that you may also be looking for directories which are more local to you (or your clients, perhaps). Whitespark's tool will likely turn some of these up, but if you need to do this manually, the best way is to search Google for resources that turn up for your core phrases, including geographic phrases.
So, that might be 'plumbers portland' or 'dentists denver' or what have you. The thing is, the SERPs are so dominated these days by major directories (like Yelp, YP.com., etc.) that you may have to dig through many pages before you turn up smaller, more niche directories. Other things to search for would be local blogs and local news sites where, if you have an interesting story to tell, you may be able to get something published, including your NAP (name, address phone number) making these citations, too. Citation building beyond the big directories and obvious sources requires extra work and creativity, but it can definitely be done. Hope this helps!

https://getlisted.org/ is your best bet for getting started.

A great resource here: https://www.whitespark.ca/local-citation-finder/
Also a common misconception is that if you havent created listings in local directories they are not there, sometimes services generate listings for you, and at times with incorrect, or partially correct information. All your listings should have identical NAP (Name, Adderess, Phone, Email, and Website) for most benefit. and this service https://getlisted.org/ actually locates any current listings in directores etc. that you may have so that you can claim, fix, and update your listings.
Hope this helps

How to find a skilled SEO sparing partner
We are in need of a skilled SEO sparring partner to work with. We have already done a lot of SEO optimization but the results has not been as good as we hoped. I believe that might be some issues regarding structure or backlinks holding us back from getting results as I can see many competitors with almost no on page optimization or quality backlinks ranking better than us. I want to find someone who can audit our page find the problems. Also set some guidelines on what we should fix and work on to improve the overall rankings fast. Thanks!

Local ranking (keyword) strategies
Hello SEOmozers, I've been working on improving all components of my SEO skills for the past 6 months. I have definitely had some great victories and some gray defeats. My newest challenge is local ranking for a home improvement company. My target is to rank them locally with Google within the top 7 results. I have managed to do so, but only for one keyword "windows and doors CITY". My campaign, in terms of anchor text has a wide variety of long and shortail keywords, I have not concentrated on the above keyword. My question is, how do I go about to rank this website in the local results for all other keywords "windows CITY", "window replacement CITY", etc... What I don't understand is how Google picks up which keywords to rank the website locally for, and which ones to ignore. Any information will be well received. Cheers, Nikster

Guest Posting Good or Too Spammed in 2013
Hi, Some of the Gurus and Associates have indicated that guest posting is the "Directories of today." There are some posts from last year about this in the Q&A, but what is the most recent thought if guest posting on quality sites should be avoided? Thanks.

Fixing scattered incorrect NAP for Local Listings
I have several clients who have old addresses scattered around the search engines. Correcting them all individually is extremely time consuming and I'm looking into services like Yext and Localeze, but they tend to be fairly pricey. Does Localeze actually end up correcting most of the random listings? Is there any other services I should be aware of? Thanks! Tom

In order to improve SEO with silos'urls, should i move my posts from blog directory to pages'directories ?
Now, my website is like this: myurl.com/blog/category1/mypost.html myurl.com/category1/mypage.html So I use silos urls. I'd like to improve my ranking a little bit more. Is it better to change my urls like this: myurl.com/category1/blog/mypost.html or maybe myurl.com/category1/mypost.html myurl.com/category1/mypage.html Thanks
