Article Submission Best Practices
-
We are starting an article submission project for our company and had a very basic question. Will submitting the same article to different sites create any potential issues? If the article gets published on various sites, will this be considered duplicate content?
-
Hey...
Unless these articles are going to extremely reputable sources, I would not bother with any article submissions. I would concentrate on adding content to the website and/blog, and consider doing guest blogging on other sites you may be networked with.
Article submission for the sake of SEO is not the best idea following the drop in rank of many of the large article databases.
Also, every article submitted to these places should be unique if you were still choose to use them. Often times the sites will check for dupe material. While I have read that there will be no punishment for the dupe content by the search engines, it may not help your cause. It would just be a waste of time an resources.
If you were to publish an article that goes viral, or possibly a higher end press release, I could see how this might be more powerful and well worth it.

Best backlink reading 101
Hi all New to MOZ and SEO. I run a small business and am interested in building backlinks and was wondering what the best reading material/articles are on the matter. I understand SEO in general, moreover the importance of Pagerank, and was wondering what a good approach would be to building a foundation or intro to this. Thanks in advance Joe

Is This good practice.
We are a UK company but we would like to get listed on some USA business directories. If say we enter our company name, the first and second line of our UK business address but put a USA state and a zip code would this help us for SEO or is this classed as black hat trying to deceive Google. Thank you in advance for any help.

Directory Submissions = Negative?
I see that a lot of SEO companies offer a large 5,000 directory submission package with slow, 160 day submissions. I don't mind spending the money to have this done, but my question is... would they help, or would they actually hurt my rankings? Since a lot of these directories are basically just copies of each other on different domains. As an added question, would it be worth submitting to all of the general directories on this list? http://www.seomoz.org/directories

DMOZ submission
Has anyone had any experience submitting to DMOZ and waiting times. The category i've submitted to has only a few links (http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Westminster/Arts_and_Entertainment/) Yet I submitted the site (www.capitalalist.com) over a month ago! Can anyone give examples of waiting times, or a way to perhaps get some feedback from DMOZ? Thanks in advance as always...

Best way to use a cartoon as linkbait
I have an idea for a cartoon that, once created, is likely to be shared a lot in my niche. I'm currently hiring someone to draw the cartoon. My question, though, is the best way to get SEO benefit out of this. If you had a cartoon that was likely to go viral would you publish it as a blog post on your site? People tend to like sharing things that are on imgur or flickr, but these won't help my seo. (Other than perhaps if I end up getting good PR on a flickr image and then link back to my site.) I'm likely going to just publish this as a blog post on my site, but I thought I'd float this out there for other people to give their input. Have you ever used a cartoon or image for linkbait?

Best Link Building Practice
Are there any articles or tutorials here about how to build links? The only two methods I've been able to uncover are using OSE to analyze competitors backlinks and directory listings. I'm thinking there must be other ways.
