Is it OK to repeat the Meta Title as the H1 - word for word?
-
Just remember that the H1(and other header tags) should be descriptive for/of the content that follows them too
Edit : typo
-
I personally prefer to use both as the same. I will slightly change the H1 if I have a long title thought. But overall, I use the same or if not well very similar for both tags.

hey thanks - i have found it works very well too - but just began to wonder what the general feeling was amongst SEO people

I completely wholeheartedly agree with EGOL.
It will also depend on the end use. I like to coach my photographer clients to use unique Titles and unique Post Headings for one reason only: Clients.
My photographers will post the photos in their blog to show off for their clients and other photographers (and generating traffic).I like to use the Title Tags for keywords (maybe it was a wedding shot at a certain wedding venue location that can be used for Chunky Middle searches.
In that case it might look like:
Hotel Del Coronado Wedding Photography | John Doe Wedding PhotographersBut for the client who won't necessarily be looking in the Title Tag, and the Post Header is more visible, you can do something like this:
John & Jane's Wedding | Hotel Del CoronadoBoth have keywords in them, but one is more user friendly and appealing than the other.
But feel free to make them the same or get creative with them.

I have lots of pages that have matching <title>and <h1>. They rank great.</p> <p>I think that the practice is smart - saves time. </p> <p>Wordpress and other content management systems do this buy default.</p> <p>Someone somewhere started preaching that these should not match. My experience is different.</p></title>

IMG TITLE no longer used in Wordpress?
Err, when did this happen? Although you can still enter a Title in the WP image library, when inserting into a post the Title tag is not implemented. Alt text is there OK but not Title. There was a plugin around that restored this basic seo functionality but it's no longer available. I mean - honestly!

Generating Dynamic Meta Titles for SEO - Advice?
Hi, I'm working with a new client that works with a lot of suppliers and they want to have their titles built in a specific way. If I generate a template (so to speak) will generating dynamic meta titles have a negative effect on their SEO and is this even possible? If so, what would be the best way to handle this? There is approximately 100 suppliers. Any feedback/advice is appreciated!

I've just manually edited all the page titles and meta descriptions on a site, when will this show in Google results?
I've just manually edited all of the page titles, meta descriptions and optimised the copy on a client's site. I submitted this for a new crawl on Google via Webmaster Tools but when I do a Google search the old versions are still showing. Will it still take a few weeks for the new versions to show even though Google has crawled it via Webmaster?

Meta separators
I've been told that pipes are the best separators for title tags. Can anyone tell me the best ones for H1 and H2 tags? Do I go with pipes, commas, hyphens, underscores...?

How many times should a word appear in an article?
Hi My site is maily about growing fruit and vegetables and was badly hit after the September Panda update. Each page is about one type of fruit or vegetable and discusses how to grow that particular plant. Each page targets two keyword phrases, "growing abc" and "how to grow abc" so e.g. "Growing garlic: a guide on how to grow garlic" would be the page title and then the two phrases used a couple of times on each page. However the plant, in the above example "garlic" can appear upto 30 or 40 times per page, also the phrases "how to grow" and "growing" will appear on just about every page, would these facts be hurting my overall site rankings? Many Thanks Simon

Why do I need to write meta descriptions?
I work at a marketing firm, and was trying to convince my boss that we need to start writing meta descriptions for all pages on the sites we develop for clients. He asked why this would be necessary since Google automatically pulls a snippet of content, containing the keyword(s) that had been searched, from any page listed in its SERPs. I didn't have an answer for this, and it got me wondering: When does Google actually display the meta descriptions that people write instead of scraped content? And is it really that necessary to write meta descriptions?
