How to rank a keyword in Google after humming bird update ?
-
I would still optimise the target landing page as per tradtional on page techniques and guidelines for the keyphrase, just in conjunction with my, and the other contributors to this threads, comments too

In my opinion, keywords will forever be able to be ranked as not everyone asks Google specific questions. Someone may just enter "general dentist in City" to find out where a dentist is to make an appointment. That would be a keyword and not so much a topic.
In terms of potentially getting more exposure for what people are searching, you could adopt the strategy of quality topical content as well, so you are working to target both individual keywords and topics together.

Means i cant rank the exact keywords any more ?

We are getting more and more of this same question from marketers and consultants who "heard" about Hummingbird a couple weeks ago and I agree 100% with Dan and Kevin. I may add...
As we are learning to adapt as well, since we work with smaller businesses focusing on typically 1 location in 1 major city or a couple towns, our conversations are a bit different than most larger SEO companies. We still do talk about keywords, however, we are now including more information about content. For example, instead of just talking about "cosmetic dentists City A" as the keyword which is very broad, we may look at more of what people are "asking" Google , like "how to fix a broken tooth" or "getting teeth whitening" or "benefits of dental veneers" and so much more. They may not be exact questions, but they are proving they are wanting a more specific answer. In comes content served up on a web page and blog articles. The more topical content you can push out there addressing these questions from searchers, the more chance you have in the future to be found.

Along w/Dan's answer take a look at this article at searchengineland: 2014 SEO Playbook: Google Hummingbird, Content & Authority.
-
in short - dont focus on the keyword anymore, focus on user/searcher intent so provide high quality content that answers queries relating to the topic in question and include the various synonyms as well as plural and singular versions of the related keywords if can be done in a manner thats makes sense and provides value

Low Ranking Mystery
Hello fellow MOZzers..! I am fairly new to this community but have been working on my SEO skills for a while.. I have created over 20 websites for myself and various clients, and all of them are doing fairly well ranking n.1 for their targeted keywords... except 1 WEBSITE THAT IS BECOMING A ROYAL PAIN IN THE BUTT! The website is www.dancepartycentral.co.uk and this is why it's a mystery to me: The on-site SEO seems to be on point (getting an A on page-grader for desired keywords) "Dance Party" does not seem to be too much of a competitive keyword Many of the other competitors do not seem to have very professional websites (apart from 3 or 4) or that have as much targeted content for the relevant keywords I have over relevant 20 sites and industry directories for Entertainers that are linking to the site (even though not all of them are appearing on page crawls) Please keep in mind this site has been created using webs.com so I have little control over the coding I seem to only be getting a 6.5% TXT/HTML ratio even though the site is made up mostly of original content This business highly relies on organic SEO searches and as my site is not ranking in the top 50, it's become a bit of a head-scratcher for me.. if anyone is kind enough to help me shed some light on the problem and how I can resolve this, I would be eternally grateful! Many thanks Jessica

Ranking discrepancies
The head office of our organisation has just set up a new website and I see that it is ranking third below two of our retail stores. I performed a link analysis s and see we out rank our stores in terms of Links etc. Can someone explain to me why we are below these stores. Also our website was only launched a week a go. Could this have an effect?

Google Penalty
Hey there, I am working with a site who recently received an email from Google that they have been penalized. Since I have only been working with this site for a couple of weeks I know it's from past SEO work. I tried to pull back links for them and they have 1.5 million of them and every one I look at is a good quality site. I did notice one thing that stood out and I need your opinion. They have a blog in which they run about 3 ad banners and about 4 other links site wide creating several thousand links with the same anchor text and seems to be a bit spammy on the page. However, the blog is owned by them... and the amount of same anchor text links is a very small percentage of their 1.5 million links. Can you offer a different way for me to attempt to find these bad links? Could their blog by itself cause the issue? Please share your thoughts with me about this.

Ranking strategy -which pages to rank?
Hi, I hope you can help. I am looking to rank for 10 keywords. My homepage has some authority. On what pages should I focus my optimisation on? Should I create a new page for each keyword and build links to these pages or try and optimise my home page for a number of keywords? If so how many keywords should you optimise for from your home page to get the most clout? Im a little confused about which strategy would be the most effective. Many thanks.

Confused why wesbite is number 1 in Google
Hi All, Wonder if you can help someone who is not a SEO professional? I am trying to optimise my website for the term "driving lessons brighton" and when i search on this keyword with &pws=0 the following website http://strictly-driving.co.uk/ is number 1. However I cant see why they are number 1? As they dont really have any links etc. Any advice on why they are so high would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Google Merchant Center
Does anyone have experience with outcomes on listing your products under grouped search results as opposed to separated out. It seems that this can be easily accomplished by using a SKU that is different then others in the listing but I wonder if one ranks better over the other (it appears that grouped searched rank a bit higher). It seems that it would be best to take into consideration the audience you are targeting and what their habits are, i.e. would they be more likely to click on the group searches and look for products that way or do they want to find a reputable brand and would more likely click on that. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated as I am not really finding any information on this subject.
