Any issues with Google impressions dropping in Webmaster Tools?
-
I'm seeing a drop in impressions across all my websites that are hosted at a certain location. Just wanted to make sure that it is not some reporting issue that others are seeing.
-
We are not running any ad on our website. event then our impressions and clicks has dropped.
-
Looks like Google fixed the issue. All my sites impressions are back up.
-
All 9 of my sites quit reporting on Feb 6 and I really need to see impressions as my site just went to number 1 for my main keyword!
-
I'm finally starting to see people talking about this issue on other forums. One poster indicated that it is a Google glitch and that they are aware of it and working on a fix. This happens from time to time. If you may recall, over a year ago Links to Site in GWT dropped overnight. That too was a Google reporting error.
Always good to know it is them and not us. Â Now back to work, with less worry. Â

Yes I'm seeing this as well on Feb 6th. It hasn't updated since then but both impressions and clicks dropped substantially. Like you I didn't see any issues with rankings.

Rob, thanks for your input.
Previous to posting my question, I checked traffic, visits, indexing and rankings. Everything looked normal. I did some checking of some sites I have hosted somewhere else (Not the same as my main sites), and the impressions look normal.
I'm suspecting that there might be an issue with the hosting location, or Google just has a glitch with our impressions reporting for this particular login. Bottom line my traffic and rankings are okay, so I'll wait and see if Google corrects the problem.
Thanks for your input!

I would take some time and check your other traffic and analytics sources. Ensure that everything is still up. Even take a few minutes to manually verify some of your known KW rankings. See if the site has plummeted or dropped severely. There would be some correlation between that and the impressions loss with GWMT. The overall algorithm might have some impact on any losses attained that you saw so take some time to look over the data..
I would be safe to assume if you don't see any major problems anywhere else in your research that things are find and Google has just had a glitch in reporting, which engineers are probably already working on
Might help you start identify the source of the issue on the site.

Google Search Console - Click Count Inconsistency
In Google's search console I see a discrepancy between click counts. At top I see this here and then beneath I see these kinds of numbers for click counts here. So the top click count says 252 and the bottom section appears to only shows less than 40. Probably a simple explanation here that I'm just not seeing. Thanks!

Tracking Google places (7 pack listing) traffic in google analytics
Is there a way to see Google Places traffic (traffic from users clicking through the 7 pack listings) segmented in Google analytics ? Normally is it just lumped together with the organic traffic ? Can you see the search phrases used to find your site, or do they also show up under 'not provided' when from Google Places. Im aware i can see some limited data in the Google Places analytics, but these seem to be 2 days behind when ever i view them.

Referral Traffic Issue
I'm working on a site that has low traffic volumes due to its niche. Â That's fine but we are daily getting referral traffic from unrelated domains without a link. Â These visits are always 100% bounce which is impacting the overall click.through rate. Â The domains are not the same and different ones come through all the time, so it is difficult to keep on top of. Any ideas what could be going on here and an effective way of dealing with this?

"not selected" is gone from Google Webmaster Tools Index Status Advanced
Just noticed today that the "not selected" has been removed from the Index status, Advanced section of Google Webmaster Tools. Anyone know why. I've used this metric to determine how or why Google was not selecting pages, particularly to gauge canonical's, 301's and duplicate content. It will be missed if gone for good.

Implications of Google discontinuing Website Optimizer
Hi Guys, As most of you probably know, Google is discontinuing Website Optimizer and introducing Experiments within Google Analytics. However, doesn't this mean that now, every site you want to run an experiment for has to be using Google Analytics? This is possibly one of the motivations for them making the change I guess? I also find it inconvenient that every 'experiment' now has to be based on improving a pre-defined goal in Google Analytics. This means that for a lot of situations we'll be creating goals just for the experiment and the clients actual goal conversions will appear quite inflated. I guess we'll just have to filter the new 'goals' out from the actual goals.

Where are google analytics stats for iphone4
hi We were looking at the Google Analytics for one  of our sites and noticed that there were NO pageviews from device=iphone and resolution=640x960 in the report. Given that iphone4 is supposed to be 640x960, and would be the most popular device (at least in our offices and everyone I know), it seems wierd. I sorted the Mobile Devices report by device and resolution to see what was available. The first 160 results were all device=not set. Finally got to device=iPhone and there were three entries: resolution 0x0 had 11 views resolution 320x396 had 45 views resolution 320x480 had 3,944 views. Hopefully all iphone4 users havent been classified as not set. Or is it possible that iphone4s claim to be 320x480 in browsers, as per http://www.alistapart.com/articles/a-pixel-identity-crisis/ Even worse, if I look at the Samsung Galaxy S II (myown phone), there are over 30 screen resolution combinations. Does anyone have anything to shed on this? I asked about it on the google analytics twitter account last week but havent had a response. Are there other analytics solutions that would distinguish between the iphones? Warning - this is a link to a large image, with the not set stats at the top. 6Sjji
