Any issues with Google impressions dropping in Webmaster Tools?
-
I'm seeing a drop in impressions across all my websites that are hosted at a certain location. Just wanted to make sure that it is not some reporting issue that others are seeing.
-
We are not running any ad on our website. event then our impressions and clicks has dropped.
-
Looks like Google fixed the issue. All my sites impressions are back up.
-
All 9 of my sites quit reporting on Feb 6 and I really need to see impressions as my site just went to number 1 for my main keyword!
-
I'm finally starting to see people talking about this issue on other forums. One poster indicated that it is a Google glitch and that they are aware of it and working on a fix. This happens from time to time. If you may recall, over a year ago Links to Site in GWT dropped overnight. That too was a Google reporting error.
Always good to know it is them and not us. Â Now back to work, with less worry. Â
-
Yes I'm seeing this as well on Feb 6th. It hasn't updated since then but both impressions and clicks dropped substantially. Like you I didn't see any issues with rankings.

Rob, thanks for your input.
Previous to posting my question, I checked traffic, visits, indexing and rankings. Everything looked normal. I did some checking of some sites I have hosted somewhere else (Not the same as my main sites), and the impressions look normal.
I'm suspecting that there might be an issue with the hosting location, or Google just has a glitch with our impressions reporting for this particular login. Bottom line my traffic and rankings are okay, so I'll wait and see if Google corrects the problem.
Thanks for your input!

I would take some time and check your other traffic and analytics sources. Ensure that everything is still up. Even take a few minutes to manually verify some of your known KW rankings. See if the site has plummeted or dropped severely. There would be some correlation between that and the impressions loss with GWMT. The overall algorithm might have some impact on any losses attained that you saw so take some time to look over the data..
I would be safe to assume if you don't see any major problems anywhere else in your research that things are find and Google has just had a glitch in reporting, which engineers are probably already working on
Might help you start identify the source of the issue on the site.

Google Analytics & Google Sheets
Hi guys, I'm looking to use google analytics google sheets extension to pull data into a google sheet with metrics from other tools e.g. semrush, moz, etc. From my understanding with google analytics google sheet extension its designed to run reports and doesn't really allow you to add other metrics. Basically what i'm trying to do is this: https://www.useloom.com/share/c1e42bfa60bd46fca2b1120018969ce8 Any suggestions/advice on how to do this would be great. Cheers.

Referral Traffic Issue
I'm working on a site that has low traffic volumes due to its niche. Â That's fine but we are daily getting referral traffic from unrelated domains without a link. Â These visits are always 100% bounce which is impacting the overall click.through rate. Â The domains are not the same and different ones come through all the time, so it is difficult to keep on top of. Any ideas what could be going on here and an effective way of dealing with this?

Changing URL Parameters in Webmaster Tools
We have a bit of a conundrum. Webmaster tools is telling us that they are crawling too many URLs: Googlebot found an extremely high number of URLs on your site: http://www.uncommongoods.com/ In their list of URL examples, all of the URLs have tons of parameters. We would probably be ok telling Google not to index any of the URLs with parameters. We have a great URL structure. All of our category and product pages have clean links (no parameters) The parameters come only from sorts and filters. We don't have a need for Google to index all of these pages. However, Google Analytics is showing us that over the last year, we received a substantial amount of search revenue from many of these URLs (800+ of them converted) So, Google is telling us they are unhappy. We want to make Google happy by ignoring all of the paramter URLs, but we're worried this will kill the revenue we're seeing. Two questions here: 1. What do we have to lose by keeping everything as-is. Google is giving us errors, but other than that what are the negative repercussions? 2. If we were to de-index all of the parameter URLs via Webmaster tools, how much of the revnenue would likely be recovered by our non-parameter URLs? Webmaster Tools Indexed pages vs. Sitemap?
Looking at Google Webmaster Tools and I'm noticing a few things, most sites I look at the number of indexed pages in the sitemaps report is usually less than 100% (i.e. something like 122 indexed out of 134 submitted or something) and the number of indexed pages in the indexed status report is usually higher. So for example, one site says over 1000 pages indexed in the indexed status report but the sitemap says something like 122 indexed. My question: Is the sitemap report always a subset of the URLs submitted in the sitemap? Will the number of pages indexed there always be lower than or equal to the URLs referenced in the sitemap? Also, if there is a big disparity between the sitemap submitted URLs and the indexed URLs (like 10x) is that concerning to anyone else?

Alternative to Google Analytics
Hey Everyone, My company has just changed the order processing software we are using and it's causing some issues with Google Analytics conversion funnel tracking. Â Specifically, there is one point in the funnel where making certain selections (which about half the people do) causes the page to reload. Â Also, on the login/register page, if they miss a field, the software tells them missed the field, but loads a new page which has a different URL which is not a part of the funnel when a mistake like that isn't made. All of this is causing Google Analytics to report people as leaving the conversion funnel when they really haven't. Â About a third of the traffic is being shown as exiting the funnel with the exit URL being the exact same URL as the step they are supposedly exiting from (example: the visitor enters on page1, moves to page2, Google is showing that they exit on page2 and go to...page2. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to deal with this in Google Analytics? Â If not, do you have a recommendation of an alternative analytics program which can deal with the situations mentioned above? PS - Changing the way the checkout software works does not appear to be a viable option. Kurt Steinbrueck

How to measure number of visits from Google News coming from Google Universal Search (NOT referral coming directly coming from news.google.com) with google analyitcs
I'm running a news site, and I have a problem of accuratly measuring which traffic is REALLY coming from google news. I analyzed a lot of  individual articles and I come to the conclusion, that the visits, that come from the google news section in the universal search results are counted as "normal" search engine traffic in google analytics. So if you do a Google search for a topic that includes links from Google news, you don't get an accurate referral count. As an example, if you do a search for "eBay", incorporated into the page 1 search results you may also see Google news results as well.Â

If someone clicks on that Google news link that appears in Google search, it shows up in Google analytics as a referral from Google search, when it was actually from a Google news referral. I was already checking google analytics and google news help forums and searched SEO blogs for this. But I wasn't able to find a working solution. Can anybody help me out with this problem? Thanks so much, Matthias0
