Types of links for 2011?
-
So far in 2011 we have seen some minor and some quite major updates to the Google Algorithm.
So what does this mean for future link building in 2011, what type of links do people think are going to continue to work?
Are directory and article submissions totally dead?
I personally believe that this year a big area of link building that is going to be crucial is Guest Blog Post, finding high quality relevant websites and getting a guest post done on them. This is personally what I am really going to target this year.

Great questions. I am sure many of us are watching how the Panda update is changing linking.
Here is the answer everybody hates (including me at times) I think the big change in 2011, and 2012 in SEO has to be in building better content on sites, and building better social signals to sites. And for most of us that's a real change in course.
Adding calculators, tips, Forums, FAQ, and funny stuff along with Quality promotion for links. We still use Directories and Articles, but only when we we do it because it makes promotional sense, not just SEO.

You believe or have seen proof?
(thanks in advance)

I definitely agree more so than any previous years, high quality unique content both on your own website, and on the web pages you are being linked from is crucial.
I am planning to spend much more time writing my own unique content for my blogs, and feeding this out to the likes of Facebook & Twitter. As I believe these two social media platforms are already being used heavily to influence the SERPS.

Guest blog post is definitely a good idea and an excellent strategy. I don't think directory and article submission are dead provided:
- Directory is reputable and topical
- Submit each article once only. With the recent "Panda" update i believe polishing write-ups a bit and reposting them won't help. So quality and unique content is the best bet.
I believe we can go on with the current linking strategy but should make sure not to use black-hat tactics as Google is getting smarter!

Guest blog posts are not a bad idea, though bloggers are going to start being more sensitive to link hungry blog post requests. Do I see a new marketplace being created just like link sales....? Hope not.

Link building strategy - my weak link!
Please help me understand link building. I've read the articles on Moz, but they seem vague to me. Specific questions: 1. How do I get my webpage on good quality sites? 2. Guest blogging? Good or not? 3. What about when people pick up one of our blog stories and publish it on their site with a link back? Is that bad now because it is duplicate content??? 4. Forum posts with a link in the signature? Good or not? 5. Directories - I get it that these are no longer good... are they severely negative? Should I take them down. 6. PR - Looks like this is bad... right??? 7. Youtube - any value? 8. Pinterst, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? Any value to backlinks here? 9. What about sites like redit? 10. Anything else I should consider?

Reciprocol Links
Am I correct in stating that linking to every article about your company is a bad idea. I see a lot of sites with followed links to the articles that link to them. Is this not devaluing the link? I've been recommending removing the links or no indexing the page and no following the links. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Why does my site only have 4 internal followed links/internal links?
When using Open Site Explorer my site is winning in many categories but lacking in others as compared to competitors. I intend to improve on this but am a little confused by the extremely low number of "internal followed links" and "internal links" at just 4. My competitors have much more than that. Does this mean links to the root domain? Total internal links? I have many internal links so I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. What four internal links are getting noticed? I just went through and changed all the links that went to index.html to link to the root domain at www.njlimocarservice.com as I just found a Q&A that indicates this was better. So as of Wed at 5:45 PM all my links to the homepage went to index.html and not the root which is no longer the case. Not sure if this matters. At the same time I also just put a 301 from index.html to redirect to www.njlimocarservice.com. Any help appreciated! h9QuF.png

Sitewide link dilema
About 3 years ago I acquired a sitewide sidebar backlink on very good site. Today 3 years later my site has 27,080 backlinks from the same domain with the same anchor text and I am concerned this could be doing my site more harm than good. The site is good quality well indexed PR5, some inner pages also have good PR. My dilemmas are: Should I have the link removed or leave it put? Would taking down so many links in one go do me harm? My instinct would be to remove the sitewide and just keep the homepage link but that is not an option Can anyone help? Thanks

If I write a PR release on a site such as PRweb with anchor-text links that is picked up and published by other news sites, do the engines consider this duplicate content or additional, beneficial links?
I recently wrote a news release on PRweb that was picked up identically by 8 other news websites, with the same anchor-text links as the original. Is the reproduction of duplicate content and links across different websites like this to the benefit or detriment of SEO and ranking power? Some of the links are: http://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/view/pressrelease/eventa-new-eventa-christmas-parties-website-is-launched-648923?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=Alert&utm_content=pressrelease http://www.prweb.com/releases/christmasparties/neweventasite/prweb8562064.htm Many thanks!!
