Unable to view link from Apprentices gov.uk site
-
Hi, I've noticed that when some companies are advertising for apprentices on the https://apprenticeshipvacancymatchingservice.lsc.gov.uk website they gain a followed link from the site. When I then use opensiteexplorer the link doesn't show. Does anyone know the reason for Moz not picking this up? Am I not giving it long enough to show? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Roger (the crawler for Moz) does not fill out forms. I can't see a way to find a listing without doing a search, and OSE would need to be able to browse these listings to be able to see them.

I did a check with Ahrefs, OSE as well as majesticSEO I could not find it please reference the information below and I did put the backlinks I was able to find in a CVS file you can download here
all the best,
Tom

I just did a very thorough search for you I used open site explorer, Ahrefs & majesticSEO
None of them found the URL or TLD that you were looking for that does not mean it does not exist however if it was recently linked to your domain then this could mean it is just not being picked up. There is a lot of information below including all the links to your site in a CSV
you have a lot of backlinks from directories I searched quite a bit I could not find it however your welcome to go to this CVS of your back links right here
All TLD's according to Ahrefs that are pointing to your domain.

I am sorry to say that I do not believe it is pointing to your site or it is not being picked up by either OSE, Ahrefs, majesticSEO
I hope this is of more help,
Thomas

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your reply. What I'm trying to do is find a particular link from the domain https://apprenticeshipvacancymatchingservice.lsc.gov.uk which is the uk apprenticeship vacancy website to the website of the company advertising the position which in a particular case is www. homecolours .com.
I cannot seem to see this backlink even though the backlink is from a very high authoritative .gov site.
When using opensiteexplorer it doesn't show and I was wondering if I'm not giving it enough time to show up. Is there another tool which I can use to find a specific backlink rather try to discover as many backlinks as possible?
Kind regards,GoMetrics

There is not one company that can pick up every single link that is on the web.
Anyone that has advertising on a website should not be getting a followed link.
All advertisements and affiliate links should be no follow
if you are trying to find links that are pointing to somebody else's site not pointing towards your site right?
I would use https://moz.com/researchtools/crawl-test
To find the links that are pointing to other people's domains. They are going to be able to be found very easily that way.
Just so you are aware no one tool on the web can find every single backlink.
For instance Moz open site Explorer needs to index your site along with other tools like MajesticSEO and Ahrefs
If you use all three of them and Google Webmaster tools you most likely have no issue finding what you need in terms of back links.
Moz OSE tends to be more like Google Webmaster tools and find more live links then dead links
Remember you must give all the tools time however you are looking for outbound links not inbound links or back links.
I use a combination of OSE & Aherfs some people like to use all three others different combinations. This is my choice and I think it is wise to use a combination of tools if you are doing back link exploration.
Hope this help,
Tom

EDU Links to my Site Never Show in Webmaster Tools
I have legit links from about a dozen .EDU sites. We do training for Universities. The links never show up in webmaster tools "Links to Your Site' and considering how many we have its amazing our rankings aren't better. It's almost as if google is ignoring them. Any thoughts?

Is are Scoopon type sites a good place to get a link?
We have noticed that our competitors have links with equality from sites like this: http://www.groupon.com.au/ Scoopon type sites like this can be an effective way to generate sales for a business, I'm just wondering if these types of sites also have added value for SEO as sites like these do have a strong Domain Authority? Any thoughts on this subject would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Typical percentage of links found in Webmaster Tools but are not in Open Site Explorer?
50% of our links are found in Webmaster Tools but are not found in Open Site Explorer. Is this normal? If these links are not indexed does that mean our DA will not grow as high as it could until they are crawled?

What is the difference between external followed links and internal followed links.
I have almost 3,000 external links followed and only a tiny amount of internal followed links. My website is doing really badly on google at the mo. I am also an SEO beginner and learning new stuff every day, but am not sure exactly what the difference is! Thanks!

Are link exchanges bad for SEO these days? Also, is adding my site to free yet relevent directory sites a bad idea?
I operate a computer services company in Eugene, Oregon called "Eugene Computer Geeks". We do a lot of web design, and need incoming links to my site very badly. Lately I've been asking clients if they would link to me, but they almost always ask for a link in return. If we exchange links, does Google penalize my site? Would the incoming link be better for SEO if I'm not linking back to the other site? ALSO Is it possible that manually submitting my site to free, yet relevant web directories would hurt my rankings? It's not a big deal to me if it doesn't help my rankings, as I see a benefit to having my site listed, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a chance that it would hurt my rankings. As far as I know all the directories are free from SPAM, porn, warez, or anything like that. Thanks!

Local service site link building
I have a local service site http://winecountrycarpet.com/ and I have been link building as much as possible for my landing pages (which aren't local to my city, but are within 20 miles). I would like to keep my link building as above board and white hat as possible (so i do a lot of forum sigs and links in do follow forum in my industry) I do not seem to be seeing any results though. My pages are on the first page for their targeted keywords, but I think this has more to do with onsite SEO and non competitive keywords. I am wondering if anyone can recommend any strategies that I might find more effective. I have thought about leaving blog comments on do follow blog's but it just seems so spammy its hard to imagine it working. I am open to any ideas.

Getting a link from a page on a site with high site DA but low PA?
Does anyone know if it is still worth it getting a link from a page on a site with a really low Page Authority - say a news page on a site that has an SEO Moz tool bar PA of just 1 or 2, but the domain of the site has a high DA like say 83 Is this worth getting?? Thanks
