How can I tell if I am using Universal Analytics?
-
On my Google Analytics page it says at the top "Upgrade to Universal Analytics Upgrade to get a deeper understanding of your users through new tools and more accurate data."
Below that it talks about how to do it. I do not see what they are talking about for "Select an account and a property, then click Universal Analytics Upgrade."
But if I can into my change history is shows Changed By-System Property "http://www123.com" started transfer to Universal Analytics processing." This was on May 22nd and it hasn't said anything since. Why does it keep telling me to do it if it already has? It doesn't say transfer complete anywhere so I don't know if it finished or not.
-
Yup that makes sense. I need to change the code.
-
That is exactly what I am seeing. I need to get ecommerce figured out then just do a code replace all at once.
-
ThompsonPaul is right - the activation to Universal does not mean the code has been changed on your website, which is why you'll still see the old _gaq.push code. See my separate answer/screenshot
-
When you go to Admin -> Tracking Info -> Tracking code
If Universal has been activated, but the code has NOT been updated, you will see this;
http://screencast.com/t/FJuKuBDI <--click for screenshot.
-
Just to be clear - upgrading to Universal will NOT change the code on your website's page. You must do that manually yourself.
Clicking the upgrade button in the GA Dashboard will upgrade the GA Dashboard interface, but you must then take the new tracking snippet code it gives you and replace your web pages' old code with this new one.
That make sense?

_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); This is the closest thing I see in my code. Looking in it yesterday I noticed I have a way to track User IDs which I think is exclusive to Universal. So strange.
-
That isn't there. I looked at the Google documentation and it has a screenshot of what that would look like but I don't have it.
-
Then you're probably already on Universal Analytics. The best way would be to check the tracking code to see if it matches with the UA syntax. If you see something like: ga('send', 'pageview'); in there you're all set and ready to use Universal Analytics.
-
Hello Niner52,
It sounds like the transfer may have been initiated, but not yet completed. Follow these steps to see if you have anything left to do:
-
Visit Google Analytics
-
Go to the 'Admin' area
-
Under the property that will be using Google Universal Analytics, select the 'Universal Analytics upgrade.'
There it will list the next steps you need to take in order to complete the upgrade to UA.

Conversion analytics goals
Hello, I have to configure my analytics goals for my SEO estrategy. In Google Analytics I can choose between: destiny, duration, Pages/screens per session and event. But I don't have the best criteria for select each one. What are the best options for a content site and for a e - commerce? Otherwise, I wanna know which is a good bounce rate for a content site? And what is a good Avg. Page Load Time (sec)? Thanks in advance.

The custom dimension will be called "repeat_buyers" with scope user because I want to track the user over time. Is my assumption correct? How would you you set it up? When I have this dimension, I would just apply the default metric transaction on my reports. I don't have experiencie on custom dimensions so I might be totally wrong. Can you please help? Goal in Analytics - mulitple sources for the destination?
Hello, guys. I am trying to find information without luck for my case - I have a contact form, which is placed on many inner pages (about 40). My question is - how do I make a Goal that has simultaneously all the different sources at once (as steps probably) - because there is a max limit of goals, and because analyzing them separately will take much time. When a form is submitted, a /thankyou//?recordid=0d53415b-3e6b-4a32-add7-1586a4737a89 (or similar URL) appears. My guess is that I use a regular expression of ^/thankyou as a Destination, but I do not know what to write in steps. Thank you all in advance, I hope I find a solutions of this annoying problem..

Nonbranded Segment in Analytics
I created a segment in analytics for non-branded terms. Problem is, that when I use that segment it shows all the search traffic even non-paid. Why is that? Or, how do I limit the non-branded segment to only non-paid search? The segment I created looks like this -- Dimension: Keyword Condition: Does not a match regular expression Value: Name of client (with pipes between possible words) Thanks.

Can you get local search numbers/traffic out of Google Analytics?
With Google's new local search I am more curious as to market penetration on keywords that are now localized to my different US cities. I understand that you can separate out Google traffic based on regional Google domains, but I am curious if there is an effective way to separate out searches and keywords based on a my local US Metros? If google cannot do this, any recommendations on products that can? Thanks.
