What is your thoughts on the proper way for one brand to promote a sub-brand.

How Do Major Companies Promote Their New Sub-Brands
I'm curious to see everyone's thoughts on how and what is the best process to promoting your companies new brand. I see companies like Wayfair.com promoting their sub-brand "All Modern" and "Wayfair supply" (maybe "sub-brand" isn't the best term) in the top left of the page as a link. I believe this is only a SEO play because they are only outbound links to the brand website. If you go to "All Modern" there are no links back to Wayfair. I then looked at a company like Gap.com and notice that all of their other brands are promoted on the website and are also interchangeably linked to one another.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to link and or promote your smaller brand that could potentially turn it into a Major Brand. Do you think this is just a SEO linking play. I'm curious to see everyone's thoughts

I understand linking to the page only if it makes sense. What are your thoughts on the location of the link? should they be placed at the top left/right or just place them in the footer.
The major differentiation between the two examples of branding I gave were one brand is promoting its sub-brand with a 1 way link they are not linking to one another (example : Brand A is only linking to Brand B & Brand C while Brand B&C do not link to Brand A). The other example is all of the brands are interchangeably linking to one another (example : Brand A is linking to B&C while B&C also Link to Brand A)

Are you talking about Brands on other Sites or Brands on the same site?
If you have two site sharing links is not bad as reciprocal links gives great customer experience, but if one is for example plumbing hardware and the other for Knitting Machines, then you should ensure that the pages that link the two sites make sense. So you might share the link on a page called " Our Other Brands" or the like
Just dropping a link on the homepage within the context of that page, unless relevant, is not beneficial to the experience.

New domain for new branding
We are considering taking a redirect off and have our 20 yr old website go to our new name/brand 1yr old website. (junonia.com to junoactive.com) is there a checklist or template to follow when doing this? I need to get this completed with as little ramifications as possible. Help!? I did see the whiteboard friday concerning this and was hoping there was some more info or advice I could get to prepare everyone for what would happen and make sure I am getting it done right.

Two Domains, which one should be used on Social Media platforms?
I have a client who changed from a Branded Domain (301 redirected this domain) to a Partial Match Domain, using the city in the domain for rich keyword. I take care of their Social Media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc.). These social networks used the Branded Domain (with the company name in the domain) for years, now the new web designer is asking that we change Username and Domain to the new Partial Match Domain, which is very "generic" not mentioning the company name. I am reluctant to change for branding mention purposes. Does anyone have any advice?

Is it OK to have two similar business sites share their Social Media (just one FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?
These two businesses are owned by the same company (industry is event planning). The parent company has been in business 20+ years and caters to a corporate crowd and the more recent company started by the parent caters to consumers (weddings). Would this have any negative seo implications if they share social media accounts? or is this perhaps just more of a strategic issue i gather. And i would gather that its best for each to have their own blog. Would greatly appreciate some insight!Thanks, Christian

Is it OK to choose a Domain Name with Brand-name followed by keyword? Part 2
Last month I have posted a question about choosing the right domain name for a website which is currently popular in india, which also needs to be popular in USA. Branded Domain Names - Keep or Sell?
Hey guys! My company is sitting on a number of branded domains to ensure we have control over the URL in case we ever want to do anything with them and/or to protect brand integrity. However, we are sitting on a total of 24 domains, which seems somewhat excessive. What are you thoughts about .info and .net domains? Or keeping branded domains in general? Is there a good rule of thumb to follow? We have a few up for renewal soon, so it'd be terrific to get your thoughts! Thanks much, Clarissa
