What is the best web chat software?

What is the best web chat software and why?
I'd like to implement web chat softwae that will ACTIVELY ask the visitor with a pop-up if they'd like to chat. Other than that, I'm not sure I have any other needs.
-
I've previously used LivePerson. Not difficult to put into the site and pretty easy to use.
If someone's on it during the workday, it'll chime when someone is requesting a chat. If you are offline there are options to forward questions to an email address or alert your mobile phone.
They can also customize their chat window to fit with your site design and layout, etc...
Not sure if it's the best but pretty reasonably priced and easy to use.
-
Keri, correct this is for customer service.
-
I agree. It should be limited to pop-up. I can do this via PHP if the software does not.
-
They automaticlaly just email the company when no CSR is online.
-
-
I'm assuming this is for a customer service type of chat, and not a dating system type of chat?
I don't have experience with implementing one of these, but here are a couple of things I've seen go bad from the perspective of a user.
-
The chat software pops up on every single page of the website, not just once per visit. I have to hit an X to close it on each new page from the site I visit. The site had some things I might have been interested in ordering, but that chat was way too disruptive to me to stay on the site long and figure out my way around.
-
Who is going to be on the other end of this software? Do you have a service that will answer 24/7, or will you have a way to turn the chat software off if no one is there to answer?
-
-
It is just for a website, not the backend database. So shouldn't it just be their script that I copy paste to implement the chat software on the site?
I should mention we do have some PHP scripts on the site, but no CMS or .Net currently in use.
-
For what platform?
.Net? Php? a given CMS?
A lot of software is restricted based on the language in which it was developed.

Web page or blog ? Which one is preferable
Hello, For one of our sites, 19 keywords are ranking on Home page. But, the home page doesn't have content with those keywords. I am afraid that with Google updates, we will eventually lose all the ranking position for these keywords. Should we ask the client to create blog around those keywords or create separate pages ? Thanks

What is the best tactic to fix thousands of product descriptions on an eCommerce site?
I've asked this to dozens of people already, but I still haven't found a satisfactory answer... perhaps someone here can help me: I keep hearing how important it is to update product descriptions to avoid duplicate content, decrease thin content and improve conversion rates - but for any new eCommerce sites like ours, with thousands of listings going up at once, this is nearly impossible to control. Outsourcing is clearly a bad idea from an SEO standpoint as well as a UX standpoint... But are there any other options? Should I let go of my other responsibilities and focuses as an in-house SEO manager and virtually stop, drop and roll out unique product descriptions? That would be a project that would take me at least a year to complete. Do I just give up? Do two descriptions a day and hope for the best? What do you guys think? What have you recommended for others? I can't imagine our company is alone in this dilemma. Thanks in advance! Hanna

What is the best way to get around duplicate content when you are advertising exactly the same content on two different sites?
I am currently trying to improve exposure for an online degrees website but the content for the degree program pages is exactly the same as the company's main website. What would you suggest for getting around the duplicate content issue as a lot of the curriculum content will obviously be the same for each module, etc? Thanks

What is the best practice for using the same content on two pages?
I have two websites in a very similar niche(s)...I have good unique content article that I would like to use on both sites because it adds value to the visitor experience.. Example: Science of Colors would be very useful for my seattle house painting paint colors page. I want to have content so they do not need to leave the site to navigate to second site. Would the identical content trigger a penalty or would it be crawled, ignored, and not indexed. Does having a rel=authorship on one site trump the site..Or is it a pile of BAD.

Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
I am planning to write an article that refutes some claims made in another article. The original article is a 20 page pdf. What I plan to do is to take quotes from this PDF and then under each quote write my arguments for or against the quote. If I take direct quotes from the article, is Google likely to see this as duplicate content?
