Keyword research in Moz - Am I missing something?…
-
I'm fairly new at SEO and am still trying out MOZ. I'm finding myself wishing that Moz had a broader set of tools for keyword research, but am wondering if maybe I'm just missing something.
Am I correct in saying that there is no place within Moz that you can get keyword ideas, select/organize keywords, find new/related keywords? I've appreciated the keyword difficulty tool and have played around with Moz Analytics keyword tracking, but these don't help with the broader keyword research aspect. The various tutorials talk about using Google AdWords Keyword Planner and other tools to do that job. But with all that Moz can do, it just seems backwards to do lots of copying-pasting from other tools into Moz, or to have to rely on old excel spreadsheets to organize keywords. It seems that life would be much easier if Moz would be able to pull that kind of external research information in, like Raven does. That way you do most of your research within Moz – allowing you to organize/evaluate potential keywords BEFORE choosing the ones you would like to test for difficulty or track. That way you could simply select the desired keywords and add them to your tracked list. The way it is now, even the one research tool that Moz does have (keyword difficulty) does not allow for an easy way to track or manage a chosen set of keywords. For example, after doing some keyword difficulty analysis, I've chose 5 keywords. To add these 5 to the tracked keywords in a specific campaign I can't just select them and say "track keywords > in xxx campaign". From what I've understood, I must copy-and-paste them into the manage keyword section of the desired campaign.
To me this all feels a bit awkward. But since I'm new at this, maybe I'm just missing something? Or maybe it's unrealistic to expect a single tool to address all my SEO needs?

Hi Mike! Our focus is primarily on non-paid search/marketing so we do not have any current plans to integrate with Adwords. If there are any specific features you would like to see Moz offer that Adwords uses, I recommend submitting a feature request on our product team's forum here: https://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293194-Moz-Feature-Requests
I can't speak on behalf of our product team with certain decisions but definitely submit your request/question there.
Hope this helps!

Agreed. The AdWords Keyword Planner is a great tool… which is why I'm wondering why Moz can't interact with it directly through the API (like other SEO tools do) so users can work more efficiently by doing keyword searching/organizing all within Moz.

Moz Content --- for SEO or simply user engagement?
What is the primary function of Moz Content? It looks like it is most useful for managing content as a user engagement tool. Our content strategy is centered on boosting organic placement - with user engagement as a nice but unessential side product. Besides providing general descriptive details of a site's content / authorship - how can Moz Content help with SEO?

Is Moz Bot Broken?
Moz Bot says I have millions of issues with duplicate content. One item says that it has over 50 duplicates! I downloaded the CSV it gave me to look into it. All of my products have many different ways to get them, so I've set up rel=canonicals for the master one. So, I'd assume Mozbot would ignore those. But the interesting thing I've found is that of these 50 duplicates, some of them (on the same CSV I downloaded) are completely different products, with completely different URL's. and completely different titles and completely different meta descriptions and completely different product descriptions. So, 3 questions: Is Moz bot broken? Does it not recognize canonicals? Why is it seeing 3 very different products as exactly the same product? I'm so confused and since I work for a national company, the only way I can give actual examples is through a private message session. I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this issue? Because I'm completely baffled.

How does a non-traditional TLD impact Moz's crawl test?
I have a client who moved from a .com to .academy domain 6 months ago, and their current crawl tests are coming back with a universal page authority of 1, along with 0 indexed backlinks. The previous version of the site had an average page authority of 35-40, the site architecture and content are nearly identical, and there are no other errors or red flags in the crawl report that would hold back their organic rankings. In fact, looking at the site's analytics account, I can see dozens of sites that provide current and properly functioning backlinks, non of which are listed on the crawl test. So the question is - is Moz currently unable to properly crawl a .academy (or any other non-traditional TLD) site, or is there some deeper issue with the site's SEO that I'm not seeing? Thanks!

How does the grader tool treat keyword "stuffing" in ecommerce
We recently started using Moz on our ecommmerce site because I'm concerned that our SEO company doesn't really know what they are doing and I want to see what I can do on my own with the little bit of knowledge I have. It's helping in a number of ways but here's a big question mark: The Grader Tool keeps telling us that our product category pages have too many keywords on them. We are only using them in the content once or twice, but the sub-category buttons on the page show the category + sub repeated. Could this be what's causing it? Does Google distinguish this for ecommerce? We've taken a huge hit in rankings for key phrases and keywords over the past six months and I'm wondering if this is part of it?

Keyword Grader & OmniExplorer_Bot Question
I found this in several of my clients Robots.txt "User-Agent: OmniExplorer_Bot Disallow: /" Right now I cannot grade any of them that are on a particular platform that has that written in. Would this block the keyword grader? Thanks!

Keyword Difficulty Tool limit?
Is anyone else having trouble getting results from the Keyword Difficulty Tool today? I submitted 20 keywords for basic analysis, and it has been pending for almost an hour. I restarted my machine, logged in and out - no change. I pulled a few hundred keywords successfully yesterday. Does anyone know if there is a limit to keywords pulled within a 24-hour timeframe? Thanks!
