Hello,

I will ask something that is probably been asked before, but I cannot find the answer, so excuse me.

I have a website, www.example.com, and I want to add a binding to my server so when someone also hits example.com (without www in front) to be landed normally to my site.

The question is if this will affect the seo of the site in any way - duplicate content etc?

Hello ! You must first choose which version of your website you prefer: www.domain.com or domain.com

Once that is done, go to Google Webmaster Tools and create an account for each version, one for the www and one for the domain.com

Once created, tell GWT which is your favourite !

Then, you need to make a permanent rediretion 301 through your .htacess as follows to take out the www.:
```
RewriteEngine On 
```
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.midominio.com [NC]
```
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://midominio.com/$1 [L,R=301]

**Or Viceversa:**
```
RewriteEngine On
```
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^midominio.com [NC]
```
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.midominio.com/$1 [L,R=301]

If you don't do this and both www and non www versions appear, then you have Duplicate Content !

Is this campaign of spammy links to non-existent pages damaging my site?

My site is built in Wordpress. Somebody has built spammy pharma links to hundreds of non-existent pages. I don't know whether this was inspired by malice or an attempt to inject spammy content. Many of the non-existent pages have the suffix .pptx. These now all return 403s. Example: https://www.101holidays.co.uk/tazalis-10mg.pptx A smaller number of spammy links point to regular non-existent URLs (not ending in .pptx). These are given 302s by Wordpress to my homepage. I've disavowed all domains linking to these URLs. I have not had a manual action or seen a dramatic fall in Google rankings or traffic. The campaign of spammy links appears to be historical and not ongoing. Questions: 1. Do you think these links could be damaging search performance? If so, what can be done? Disavowing each linking domain would be a huge task. 2. Is 403 the best response? Would 404 be better? 3. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Nuisance visitors to non active page. What's going on?

Hi Guys, for the past several months, I get high volume of searches on a non-existing page /h/9249823.html. These searches come from all over the world from different domains and have a zero session duration. They are automatically forwarded to my home page. The source re Google Analytics is 12-reasons-for-seo.com. The full referrer is 12.reasons-for-seo.com/seo2php. Any idea what is provoking this activity? Any chance it's screwing with my legitimate search results or rankings?

Question about "sneaky" vs. non-sneaky redirects?

One of my client's biggest keyword competitors is using, what I believe to be, sneaky redirects. The company is a large, international corporation that has a local office. They use a totally unrelated domain name for local press and advertising, but there is no website. The anchor text in the backlinks automatically redirects to the corporate website. Is this sneaky or not?

Google Penguin for non-English queries?

Does anybody know if non-English queries were also 'hit' by the Google Penguin update? All Penguin horror stories out there are from sites focusing on English queries, and in some (Dutch) industries I'm monitoring, some sites with spammy backlink profiles are still ranking.

Do bad links "hurt" your ranking or just not add any value

Do bad links "hurt" your ranking or just not add any value. By this I mean, if you do have links from link farms and bad neighbourhoods, would it effectively pull you down in search engine rankings. Or is it more that it's just a waste of time to get these links, as it adds no value to your ranking. Are google saying avoid them because it will not have a positive effect, or avoid them becuase it will have a negative effect. I am under the opinion that it will not harm, but it will not help either. I think this because at the end of the day you are not 100% in control of your inbound links, any bad site could add you and if a competitor, god forbid, wanted to play some black hat games, couldn't they just add you to thousands of bad sites to pull your ranking down? Interested to hear your opinions on the matter, or any "facts" if they are out there.
