Is there a way to increase domain authority?
-
Dear all, when I see moz analytics for my blog irctcloginindia.co.in, it is legging behind only in terms of diomain authority when compared to my competitors. Because of which it is ranking low. Is there any short cut or fast method using which I can increase the authority for my domain.

Just focus on creating shareable content and getting links from authority sites in your niche.

Hello Gaurav,
You have been given some good feedback but it seems no-one directly answered your question. I agree you should not focus only on your DA and PA scores. Quality content and social media marketing done right can get you exposure and potential customers. Write content about your customers problems and how you solve them. Use an educational and informative slant to teach customers why they need YOUR product or services.
However, to answer to your specific question about the quickest way to increasing Domain Authority is you simply need to increase the number of do-follow high quality links back to your website. From other web pages with a high PA score, High Citation and High Trust Flow scores. I would start with citations/business listings in high quality online directories such as Yellow pages, White Pages, Super Pages, Yelp, Twitter, Google plus. Make sure you use the full link such as http://www.yourdomain.com This will help a small website in the beginning if it's clean. Please make sure you do not have poor quality links pointing back to your website right now. And do not fall for any linking building scams. If it sounds to good to be true it most likely is not a good thing to do. Nothing replaces good old time consuming research and hard work to build quality links to your website.

I hope that helps,

Ask yourself what makes the leaders in your niche "important"? What is "importance" in your niche? The answer is going to revolve around "discussion". What is it about leaders in your niche that makes your target audience discuss them/their product/their brand and how do others learn about those discussions? That answer is going to revolve around "content".
Important sites are what populate the top of the search results and they didn't become important without discussion and content. You need to create some of that for your site/brand/product. The way to start is to figure out what they're doing to create it and do the same for yourself.
Links contribute to importance and are evidence of discussion. You can check on who and where those discussion are taking place using open site explorer - its free. What's happening on those pages with links and why was the link created? Can you come up with a similar reason for people to link to you? Type the name of your top competitors into google and use the results to see who's mentioning them. Follow their twitter feeds and facebook pages and see what they'e doing there. Follow the people who are following them and work on creating something that your new followers will discuss.
In the end, it all comes down to "know your competitors well and your audience even better". Work on making that ring true for yourself and an understanding of the content you need to create will come naturally.
Success often takes a long time.

Dear Chris,
Thanks for encouraging me to work hard. I will definitely do that. Anything should I focus on. My keyword is such that not much content can be created around it. I am wondering what to do.

You don´t need any proversion to check your PA/DA, you can do it with the browser extension Mozbar
Just look in google "Mozbar extension" and you will find it

Gaurav,
Moz's domain authority is designed as an effort to mimic Google's pagerank. So if your pagerank goes up, things are working for you. Pagerank gets adjusted every few months. In the mean time, your rankings can go up based on the work you've done whether you see your pagerank move or not.
Your competitors are never finished adding content and optimizing their sites, which means you're never finished either. You can't afford to sit and wait for the next google PR update, you have to keep working on your site.
-
It means I will continue to struggle till then. I am using free trial of MOZ and by next time I won't be able to check my DA since my free days are getting over in 4 days. I am too poor to get pro version for long.
-
The MOZ DA value is updated each 2/3 months
Wait till the next Index Update, next one is 11 of March,
-
But I have done all that. And all I'm getting is domain authority of 1. While other sloppy sites (my competitors) are getting 12, 15, 75 etc. What to do. How can I tell my domain is authoritative?
-
I will not focus on increase the Domain Authority from Moz, but for the search engine
You can earn that writting good content that fulfil the user demands & get good qualified links from websites with good authority
Doind that, you will also increase the Domaint Authority from Moz

Shopify Site with Multiple Domains?
Hey there! My client has a website on Shopify. I don't even know how to open this can of worms, but let me try. The site URL is: https://mobilityequipmentforless.com/ However, there is another (older?) URL that gets updated as the main site gets updated and shows the exact same content. It's a straight duplicate, but is it's own URL and doesn't redirect to the main site. https://www.powerchairrecyclers.com/ And this isn't the SITE.Shopify back-end site name that was used for set up initially. I just have no idea what's going on here. Not sure if it's a serious error that needs to be fixed, or if it's something weird with how Shopify work. Any insight would be immensely helpful. Thanks! Mike

Incomplete Redirect for Domain Migration?
One year ago we migrated domain "X" to domain "Y". We did the proper redirects and used Google Search Console. Everything was done by the book. Now when we enter "Site: X" in Google about 650 results listing the old domain still come up. When clicked these redirect to the new domain. My SEO says that the old domain should not be indexed by Google, that these pages with the old domain should not appear. Is this in fact an incomplete domain migration? Our search traffic dropped considerably when we migrated the domain a year ago. My SEO thinks this may explain the drop. Thanks,

Domain changed 5 months ago still see search results on old domain
Hi, We changed our domain from coedmagazine.com to coed.com in April'13. Applied 301 redirects on all pages, submitted 'change of address' to google but we still see site:coedmagazine.com fetching 130K results on google as opposed to site:coed.com fetches 40K results. Can anybody here throw some light on what might be going wrong? [ Site runs on wordpress, hosted with wordpress as well ] thank you

What is best practice SEO approach to re structuring a website with multiple domains and associated search engine rankings for each domain?
Hello Mozzers, I'm trying to improve and establish rankings for my website which has never really been optimised. I've inherited what seems to be a mess and have a challenge for you! The website currently has 3 different www domains all pointing to the one website, two are .com domains and one is a .com.au - the business is located in Australia and the website is primarily targeting Australian traffic. In addition to this there are a number of other non www domains for the same addresses pointing to the website in the CMS which is Adobe Business Catalyst. When I check Google each of the www domains for the website has the following number of pages indexed: www.Domain1,com 5,190 pages
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | JimmyFlorida
www.Domain2.com 1,520 pages
www,Domain3.com.au 149 pages What is best practice approach from an SEO perspective to re organising this current domain structure? 1. Do I need to use the .com.au as the primary domain given that we are in this market and targeting traffic here? Thats what I have been advised and it seems to be backed up by what I have read here. 2. Do we re direct all domains to the primary .com.au domain? This is easily done in the Adobe Business Catalyst CMS however is this the same as a 301 redirect which is the best approach from an SEO perspective? 3. How do we consolidate all of the current separate domain rankings for the 3 different domains into the one domain rankings within Google to ensure improved rankings and a best practice approach? The website is currently receiving very little organic search traffic so if its simpler and faster to start again fresh rather than go through a complicated migration or re structure and you have a suggestion here please feel free to let me know your ideas! Thank you!0 -
Redirect non www. domain to WWW. domain for established website?
Hey guys, The website in question has been online for more than 5 years but there are still 2 versions of the website. Both versions are indexed by Google and of course, this will result in duplicate content. Is it necessary to redirect the non-www domain to the www. domain. What are the cons and advantages? Will a lot of organic traffic be lost at first (if non-www are getting a good amount of traffic)? Thanks.

Virtual Domains and Duplicate Content
So I work for an organization that uses virtual domains. Basically, we have all our sites on one domain and then these sites can also be shown at a different URL. Example: sub.agencysite.com/store sub.brandsite.com/store Now the problem comes up often when we move the site to a brand's URL versus hosting the site on our URL, we end up with duplicate content. Now for god knows what damn reason, I currently cannot get my dev team to implement 301's but they will implement 302's. (Dont ask) I also am left with not being able to change the robots.txt file for our site. They say if we allowed people to go in a change this stuff it would be too messy and somebody would accidentally block a site that was not supposed to be blocked on our domain. (We are apparently incapable toddlers) Now I have an old site, sub.agencysite.com/store ranking for my terms while the new site is not showing up. So I am left with this question: If I want to get the new site ranking what is the best methodology? I am thinking of doing a 1:1 mapping of all pages and set up 302 redirects from the old to the new and then making the canonical tags on the old to reflect the new. My only thing here is how will Google actually view this setup? I mean on one hand I am saying
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | DRSearchEngOpt
"Hey, Googs, this is just a temp thing." and on the other I am saying "Hey, Googs, give all the weight to this page, got it? Graci!" So with my limited abilities, can anybody provide me a best case scenario?0 -
Is this splitting my authority or link juice?
Hi Using seomoz i am getting told that a 302 temporary redirect is occurring on some of my pages for instance. http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/ Then redirects here http://www.eco-environments.co.uk/solar-power/default.phuse is this splitting my page authority because of the temporary redirect? I just want to make sure i have fully understood what's happening before i go to the company who designed and developed our site as i am convinced this is hurting my rankings. Thanks
