Research on what improves CTR on meta data?

Does anyone know of any research done to show what improves CTR for title tags & descriptions in search results? I know general best practices, but am looking for any available studies

I don't know of any studies but a great way to learn is to make a LOT of adwords ads for the same product that will be displayed for a specific keyword.
You can do this to determine the CTR of various ad wordings but more important you can measure the impact of the ad on the conversion rate of your visitors.
CTR might not be a good metric because my title tag can be powerful hype that elicits clicks but does not convert. Certain types of people are sucked in by hype and the buyer population might detect the odor.

Hi, I originally asked about pros (or lack of them) when it comes to using meta keywords tags here https://moz.com/community/q/importance-or-lack-of-meta-keywords-tags-and-tags-in-drupal. It was most likely related to Google, I guess. Is that the same if it comes to Bing as few sources are not sure how this SERP consider using meta keywords tags and people only speculating. Google Console returning zero data
Hi. I verified my site both www. and non www. with google search console a while back and yet for neither domain am I seeing any data at all under Search Appearance and under index status (under google index) it is saying 0 pages indexed even though I can see in google search there are over 116. Any idea why this might be? Thanks

Your tactics on improving organic search for a site in a struggling industry
We work with a client of ours with organic search initiatives. The problem is: the industry (e.g. the core of the business) is sagging. It has been for a couple of years. And they're finally feeling these sagging losses. Google Trends support this and shows it quite nicely. It pretty much mirrors organic search referrals as well. The industry (e.g. the core phrase that the company and its competitors have historically hit very hard) as well as Google Trends for the client (middle of the pack) and their two big competitors are attached. Wondering if anyone else has had this type of circumstance with their clients and some of their go to tactics that helped them stop the skid (and even make it start going up). My Meta Description changes when i use different keyword in google search.
Hello everyone, I have a question for the community. I have a website with several articles and news that i manage. I set specific meta descriptions for every page but when i search in google it gives me back different meta descriptions depending on the keyword that i use to search. What i notice is that google looks in my page for the most relevant part of the text that combines with my keyword and gives me back that result. Although meta description tags have no impact on rankings - can there be a negative effect from having many duplicate meta title + description tags with just 1-2 words switched out?

Google webmaster tools data update frequency?
What is the lag time for changes to a site to be reflected in Google webmaster tools Diagnostics section? They pointed out some duplicate titles which I fixed a week ago and yet they still show up as an HTML Suggestion. What has your experience been with making changes and then seeing them reflected in the HTML Suggestions section? My site is crawled every day, including the pages I have updated with new titles. Seems like it takes a while for the data to trickle into Webmaster tools, no?
