Event Schema markup for multiple events (same location/address)?
-
I was wondering if its possible to markup multiple events on the same page for one location/address using the event schema.org markup? I tried doing it on a sample page below:
http://www.rama.id.au/event-schema-test/
Google's schema testing tool shows that its all good (except for warning for offers). Just wanted to know if I am doing it correctly or is there a better solution. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Webmaster tools / search console https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en

You can use this as a template
Or use this great tool https://jsonld.com/json-ld-generator/
(remember with JSON-LD you must have the content in HTML if you post via JSON-LD)

Hi Vincent
Again, it may be a matter of creating individual pages for each event w proper Schema, or it is possible to use tags in Schema as well. So, each event would be wrapped by their proper Event tag, with the address information in a meta tag included. Both are rather tedious. You can read more here:
https://schema.org/docs/gs.html#schemaorg_testing
Ideally though, you'd have an individual page for each event.
You could follow Ticketmaster's path and use data-vocabulary.com markup, however, Schema is the standard. If you're wondering what I mean, run the following URL through the Google Structure Data Markup Tester I linked to in my previous comment:

Sorry for not posting links - I am on my phone and I cannot. Will update in the AM.
Hope these help! Good luck!

Hello Oleg and Patrick
Thank you so much gentlemen for helping me out. Unfortunately, I cannot wrap each event in it's own using itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Event" as each event will then require me to specify the same address multiple times due to the "location" attribute being a required field. Since the address occurs only once on the pageI am bound to use it only once by tying the same address to multiple address. On a side note, how come the Google schema testing tool able to pass my implementation on the sample URL?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks once again.

I agree with Oleg here - each event should have it's own page.
That being said, it is possible to markup individual events on the same page, because each event is has it's own unique attributes. Each event will be wrapped in it's own itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Event" - so be mindful of that.
You can read more here.
Keep in mind Google and Yandex have structured data markup testing tools.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

You should create separate events for each event you have (even if the location is the same)
from https://schema.org/Event --> "Repeated events may be structured as separate Event objects."

Best way to link to multiple location pages
I am a Magician and have multiple location pages for each county I cover. I currently have them linked off the menu under locations/ <county>and also in the footer</county> However I have heard that a link from the page is much stronger, so I am experimenting with removing the Menu & Footer link and just linking to these pages from within the content. It's not really a navigation item and most people come in through search to the right page. Am I diluting the link by having it in the Menu/Page and Footer? I read a long time ago that Google only considers the first link to a page and ignores the rest - is that the case? Thanks Roger https://www.rogerlapin.co.uk/

One robots.txt file for multiple sites?
I have 2 sites hosted with Blue Host and was told to put the robots.txt in the root folder and just use the one robots.txt for both sites. Is this right? It seems wrong. I want to block certain things on one site. Thanks for the help, Rena

Robots.txt and Multiple Sitemaps
Hello, I have a hopefully simple question but I wanted to ask to get a "second opinion" on what to do in this situation. I am working on a clients robots.txt and we have multiple sitemaps. Using yoast I have my sitemap_index.xml and I also have a sitemap-image.xml I do put them in google and bing by hand but wanted to have it added into the robots.txt for insurance. So my question is, when having multiple sitemaps called out on a robots.txt file does it matter if one is before the other? From my reading it looks like you can have multiple sitemaps called out, but I wasn't sure the best practice when writing it up in the file. Example: User-agent: * Disallow: Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /wp-admin/ Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/ Sitemap: http://sitename.com/sitemap_index.xml Sitemap: http://sitename.com/sitemap-image.xml Thanks a ton for the feedback, I really appreciate it! :) J

Can you have a /sitemap.xml and /sitemap.html on the same site?
Thanks in advance for any responses; we really appreciate the expertise of the SEOmoz community! My question: Since the file extensions are different, can a site have both a /sitemap.xml and /sitemap.html both siting at the root domain? For example, we've already put the html sitemap in place here: https://www.pioneermilitaryloans.com/sitemap Now, we're considering adding an XML sitemap. I know standard practice is to load it at the root (www.example.com/sitemap.xml), but am wondering if this will cause conflicts. I've been unable to find this topic addressed anywhere, or any real-life examples of sites currently doing this. What do you think?

Robots.txt to disallow /index.php/ path
Hi SEOmoz, I have a problem with my Joomla site (yeah - me too!). I get a large amount of /index.php/ urls despite using a program to handle these issues. The URLs cause indexation errors with google (404). Now, I fixed this issue once before, but the problem persist. So I thought, instead of wasting more time, couldnt I just disallow all paths containing /index.php/ ?. I don't use that extension, but would it cause me any problems from an SEO perspective? How do I disallow all index.php's? Is it a simple: Disallow: /index.php/

Does posting an article on multiple sites hurt seo?
A client of mine creates thought leadership articles and pitches multiple sites to host the article on their site to reach different audiences. The sites that pick it up are places such as AdAge and MarketingProfs and we do get link juice from these sources most of the time. Does having the same article on these sites as well as your own hurt your SEO efforts in any way? Could it be recognized as duplicate content? I know the links are great just wondering if there is any other side effects especially when there are no links provided! Thank you!
