Should I pay to be in the Yahoo! Directory or whatever it is now?

I've been trying to find a definite answer and have had no luck. The $300 a myear isn't an issue, but if being in the directory ads no value I'd just as well keep that money.

Is there a list of Directories that are free for UK, that Google considers important?
I am looking for a comprehensive list of directories (if there is one).

You should definitely cancel it Andrew. It's not worth it. And not easy to cancel. Go to Yahoo help and type SLN14163 in the search window to be taken to a page with cancellation instructions. Intuitive right?

I would think there would be no SEO value in it. Google frowns upon paid links so I am sure they treat that directory accordingly. As far as click through value I do not know.

Hi The former owner of One of our competitors ( www.gastrocatering.com ) gave my some insight into how he got his site up in the rankings. He said he got his site listed on 100s of directories had bloggers Wright about him. Gastro catering ranks highly for almost every key word we want I used the moz tools to see where his links came from, Should I copy what he did? I read a lot of posts that lead me to the conclusion I shouldn't, but he ranks #1 for so many desirable keywords. What are your thoughts on this please? All the best Ben

My Reconsideration Request Was Denied, Now What?
2 weeks ago, I submitted a disavow links request to Google and I was quite sure I did a great job at cleaning the links. I won't go into detail about how I did it but let's say that I reviewed manually each link that didn't get flagged as toxic by Link Detox. At the same time, I submitted a reconsideration request explaining what I did and mentioning that I submitted a list of links to disavow. I never got any reply about the disavow links request but I got my reconsideration request denied today: ========================================== Dear site owner or webmaster of ... We received a request from a site owner to reconsider ... for compliance with Google's Webmaster Guidelines. We've reviewed your site and we still see links to your site that violate our quality guidelines. Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes. We encourage you to make changes to comply with our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results. If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request. Sincerely, Google Search Quality Team ========================================== Should've I waited to get some kind of reply about the disavow link list before submitting the reconsideration request? Also I see links from scrappers increasing exponentially lately and I mean I get a sh*load of bad links from them with random anchor text gibberish. Do they expect me to include these links too?

Yahoo Directory inclusion of Spanish Websites
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone of you know if the Yahoo Directory accepts Spanish websites. My website has its 100% market in Mexico, so i havent seen the need to put an english version of the site. I dont know if i can accomodate my site under regional or something in order to avoid translating the ecommerce site. Or i must put an english version of the site. I would deeply thank your comments. What multi directory submit services should one use?
ubl.org, getlisted.org, localeze.com (neustar now), yext.com ? They all have some overlap, but what is worth paying for? Can you cover 90% of the market with e.g. just Yext and ubl.org or?

Directory Submissions = Negative?
I see that a lot of SEO companies offer a large 5,000 directory submission package with slow, 160 day submissions. I don't mind spending the money to have this done, but my question is... would they help, or would they actually hurt my rankings? Since a lot of these directories are basically just copies of each other on different domains. I feel a lot of my link building might be a bit heavy on the directory links side. Should I limit the percentage amount of links as a part of my overall link profile? If yes what percentage of links is ok to be directory links?
