How many times to use keyword
-
So if I have my main site, blog and article directory section, can I use keyword in all three places, but obviously different, unique content? And if so, can I link them to make it even more powerful?
-
okay. Thanks all!
-
In my experience for any exact keyword or phrase there should be one page of your site used. If you wish to add additional pages, then there would be some variation of keyword usage. You can get quite creative. If you are selling golf clubs you can vary your keywords as follows:
golf clubs, golf club, pro golf clubs, professional golf clubs, golf clubs 2011, golf club sets, set of golf clubs, etc.
Put the user experience first and write a great article about "golf clubs". When you want to write a second article on the same topic, write about "pro golf clubs" or some slight variation, then use anchor text once to reference the first article linking "golf clubs" as the key phrase.
If you keep your focus, then search engines will be clear on exactly which page should rank for each term. There will certainly be overlap and all your articles could wind up at the top of search results for "golf clubs".

Mike,
Don't over-think your linking strategy. Link your informational content to your product page, since that is how you would want to drive traffic anyway. You don't want orphan pages that don't have any internal links pointing to them, but you want most of your links pointing towards your most important pages (the pages that convert traffic).
-
Do you then interlink them?
I'm not explaining myself very good.
So I have a keyword.
I would like to do a blog post with it. Then an article with it. And if it makes sense have it on my main site maybe as a secondary keyword phrase for a product I'm selling.
How could you link the above as it is all the same keyword. Not a variation, although if I should vary it, that's fine too.
Mike

I am confused.
My understanding is your 3 areas are all on one domain. So lets say you have domain.com, domain.com/blog and domain.com/directory. Everything is on one domain.
Article 1 is published at domain.com/article1
Article 2 is published at domain.com/blog/article2
Article 3 is published at domain.com/directory/article3
Each of these articles would be written by you or someone you hire, and they would all contain appropriate anchor text links to each other.
What am I missing?
-
Yup, but then I still have the article opportunity as well, and that is what I was asking was how to crate content on blog and in articles and if I can link them? Again, this is all on one domain.
-
By covering the same keyword three times, you have the opportunity to rank in SERPs 3x, gain more diverse links and cover more longtail SEO.
Let's say you write an article focusing the topic "Dealing with Cancer"
Article 1 can focus on the doctor / patient interactions
Article 2 can focus on how family, friends and others interact with the patient.
Article 3 can focus on the disease itself
These would be three completely separate articles which can all focus the same phrase. Each would generate unique traffic and interests. You can then pick a couple keyword phrases you wish to focus for each page and use anchor text to link the pages according to their chosen phrases.
-
Yes, I have my main site, then my blog, then a third article directory on the site that has keyword themed categories covering lots of different keyword variations. All residing on the same domain.
-
Thanks, but what I was talking about was the 3 different opportunities on my site I could possibly create content for the same keyword, and if so, can I then interlink them?
-
Where are these 3 different areas (main site, blog and directory section) located? On the same site? Or different sites?
-
Hi, I would use the following set up:
-
2 keyword use in the title tag.
-
2 keyword use in the meta description
-
1 keyword use in the page URL.
-
H1 tag you can use 1 or 2 keywords.
-
Other titles on page you can use the keyword.
-
Within the content on the page you can use the 3 main keywords, main keywords near the top of the article, 8% density.
-
Alt tags on images also push the keyword is it represents the image in a non spammy way.
-
You can then use your internal link structure on site to push the keywords headers, footers, side bards all with the anchor text you wish to target.
Their are more factors you can tweak too but these are the top line ones.

Repeat keywords on the pages/titles
I know it is important to avoid duplicate titles and title tags, but I wanted to verify. Lets say you are a collection agency, would it be smart as a strategy to do domain.com/collectionagency/Dallas_ collection_agency and have that same key word structure for many states so many pages?

Question about creating content pages for keywords
Good morning, We are trying to rank our India based company which provides the following services
On-Page Optimization | | harshal.khatavkar
Engineering Design Services
Architectural Design Services
MEP Design Services Our target audiences are in the US and UK. Offcource, we are targetting above services keywords on most of our main pages and created dedicated services pages too. But lately, we found out that we are ranking well for keywords like Outsourcing Engineering Design Services, Outsourcing Architectural Design Services, etc... which are actually very very good keywords in terms of closing the leads/inquiries as people are actually looking out for outsourcing but the search count for those keywords is low. (though we closed 2 inquiries from those keywords). These pages we created in past just to increase the content of the website. I really want to give it a try to target those keywords by creating more pages, blog posts, backlinks, etc... My question is if we create more and more pages around those keywords then will it affect the rankings of the pages which are already ranking for those keywords or will the new pages compete against those pages or the new pages will help to boost current pages? We can write good content and blog posts on the outsourcing topic but not sure if we should create new pages or increase the length of the existing pages. Can you guys please help with some directions on this as I really don't want to take the wrong route. Look forward! Regards0 -
Should I Use WooCommerce Tags & Attributes?
I'm helping an online furniture store search engine optimize a WooCommerce store and I'm trying to make sure our taxonomies make sense. I'd love any help you guys can give, but I'm particularly interested in determining whether we should use tags. Product attributes make sense to me, but I'm concerned to use tags because of the propensity for creating duplicate content. Thanks in advance for any help you guys are willing to give.

Use of trademarks in tags and text
Does Google spider read registered trademarks (the 'R' or 'TM') or do these marks impede anything if they are featured in meta tags or text?

Same keyword for almost same content
Hi all! my site deals with a concept called "motivation" in two different categories: motivation for teachers (related to kids) and motivation for parents (related to kids all well). These two categories (in different pages and in different menus) deals with the concept through different perspectives. BUT the keyword to optimize the pages is the same. Due to the structure of the web I've been given I am in this position. I can't redesign the web (I'm not allowed to do it). Any solution related to the keyword? Should I maybe optimize one page with the keyword and in this page have a link to the other not-optimzed page?Any ideas? Thanks in advanced.

Is the use of some keywords necessary to be included in many of the pages?
Hello, I have a website about SEO and webdesign. I want to ask will mentioning these two keywords in many of my articles have any benefit for particular landing pages that I have. F.e.: I have two pages: example.com/seo example.com/web-design They are optimized and have Grade A in SEOMOZ's onpage tool for their two keywords. So my question is: Will broad use of my keywords SEO and webdesign in the text, title or alt not only on my two landing pages but also in other articles of my website also help these two pages to rank higher for their keyword. I see in Webmaster Tools (http://images.seroundtable.com/google-content-keywords-1351084751.jpg) there is an option to see the content keywords in your website. May be that shows that the content in my website is more relevant to particular topic and that also can influence the ranking of my two landing pages.

On Page Reports - Multiple URLs Appearing for a Keyword
Hello, I have a question regarding the on page reports automatically generated by seomoz When I look at my on page reports I notice that each keyword appears a number of times, each with a different url and then a grade for the on page report and sometimes a rank. I'm not sure I understand this, firstly I thought the on page reports were only generated for keywords in the top 50, does that mean the global top 50, or my top 50? Also why are they appearing for so many urls, I find this confusing and am not sure which pages to focus on improving, it's not always my intended pages that are ranking the best. I believe that I read somewhere that I can choose which pages to have the on page reports rank for, perhaps this is the solution? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Iain

Impact of removing category sidebar with keywords?
Our site (a niche financial publication: insideARM.com) requires some more room in the sidebar. We're considering removing the categories (we call them topics) sidebar block, or cutting down the number of items displayed within it. My concern is that we'd be removing a direct link to landing pages for important keyword terms from our most powerful page (the index). Sure, we have the terms listed in the footer, but I am worried that the position change will lower the value of the links. Our users don't really use these links for navigational purposes, which is why it comes up as a potential removed item. Am I wrong to worry about this? Would we be crippling our category pages by doing this?
