Breadcrumb Trail Markup
-
I've implemented breadcrumb trail markup on my site and I wanted to check that it's implemented correctly.
Is it true that the breadcrumb does not link to the current page as this would be redundant, so it only links to 'ancestor' pages? (You can see for example on this page that the breadcrumb links to two levels below the home page):
So basically breadcrumb trail should have a simple link for each level (except for the current page).
Thanks,

Hi there
It doesn't matter - I include the current page just in case and to always help search engines understand the architecture. It always felt odd to me if I didn't include it because I am just giving a "partial" structure in my mind by NOT including the current page.
My vote - include it. Like Google says you can either add it or leave it, so it's not going to hurt you either way!
Hope this helps! good luck!

Last element:
https://developers.google.com/structured-data/breadcrumbs?hl=en
"The breadcrumb trail may include or omit a breadcrumb for the page on which it appears.".So both works. I have seen breadcrumbs with last element and w/o last element that point to current page.

Google confused by trailing slash
My client has a page with the URL https://www.corptexsystems.ca/training/. Google won't index this page because it has detected a canonical at https://www.corptexsystems.ca/training (without the trailing slash). I can't find https://www.corptexsystems.ca/training without the trailing slash anywhere in our site. All the other page URLs end with the slash. How do I sort this out and convince Google that https://www.corptexsystems.ca/training/ is the version to index? Thanks in advance for your help, SEO masters! -AK

Trailing slash URLs and canonical links
Hi, I've seen a fair amount of topics speaking about the difference between domain names ending with or without trailing slashes, the impact on crawlers and how it behaves with canonical links.
Technical SEO | | GhillC
However, it sticks to domain names only.
What about subfolders and pages then? How does it behaves with those? Say I've a site structured like this:
https://www.domain.com
https://www.domain.com/page1 And for each of my pages, I've an automatic canonical link ending with a slash.
Eg. rel="canonical" href="https://www.domain.com/page1/" /> for the above page. SEM Rush flags this as a canonical error. But is it exactly?
Are all my canonical links wrong because of that slash? And as subsidiary question, both domain.com/page1 and domain.com/page1/ are accessible. Is it this a mistake or it doesn't make any difference (I've read that those are considered different pages)? Thanks!

Breadcrumb JSON Extraction?
Sorry the title may not make the most sense as I'm not entirely sure what my question would be phrased as. https://developers.google.com/structured-data/breadcrumbs#examples We have breadcrumbs on our site, these are generated by a plugin. So for example we have: Where am I: Homepage Page 1 [Page 2](../../Page 2 "Page 2") <a id="ctl00_RptBreadcrumbs_ctl04_link" title="Page 3">Page 3</a> Do we have any way where we can implement this without development being involved? Alternatively is there anyway to use the current url? (as we do use folders) so an example being: http://domain.com/page1/page2/page3 Probably not possible but I live in hope.

Changed all product titles, lost google schema markup in listings. Temporary?
We changed all of our product titles to be way shorter and less keyword stuffed last week. Short of dropping a few places in rank for most keywords (we assume temporarily) that all went fine. What we didn't expect was to loose all the schema data in our google listings from product pages. Price, and review stars are missing. Has anyone seen this before?

Trailing Slashes and SEO
Hi, We're currently using a third party blog platform (Blog Engine) on our site and we have a trailing slash issue. I can add as many trailing slashes as I want to the blog's homepage URL, but they don't redirect and our dev guys say this cannot be done with Blog Engine. We're in the process of building our own blog but, in the meantime, I just wanted to know if this will cause an issue? Individual blog posts with trailing slashes are redirected, it's just the homepage where it can't be done. I haven't noticed any traffic going to a blog URL with trailing slashes, and I don't believe any URLs with trailing slashes are being indexed, so should this be OK? Cheers, Lewis

Google’s Latest Manual Action Penalty: Spammy Structured Markup

Can I mark up breadcrumbs without showing them? (responsive design)
I am working on a site that has responsive design. We use faceted search for the desktop version but implemented a style of breadcrumbs for the mobile version as sidebars take up too much screen real estate. On the desktop design we are putting a display:none in front of the breadcrumbs. If we mark up those breadcrumbs and they are behind a display none, can we still get the rich snippets? Will Google see this is cloaking? In follow up, is there a way to markup breadcrumbs in the or somewhere else that is constant?
