What do you do for U-NAP distribution for two business within the same building?
-
I have a hotel that has a restaurant within its building. Both the hotel and restaurant are owned and managed by the same group. There was a proposal to create a U-NAP distribution for the restaurant itself. Should there be any concerns regarding a U-NAP issue with the hotel given that they share the same physical address and the same URL? The Restaurant has it own landing page within the domain. It does not have building specific identifier like a suite number. Please advise if a U-NAP distribution for the restaurant will cause a material impact on the Hotel's U-NAP purity.

Hi John!
Ahh! I always think of this as NAP+W (name, address, phone + website) so I wanted to be sure U-NAP wasn't some type of product or service I'd never heard of before. U-NAP ... I like it.
Okay, so you should be able to get good guidance on this from Google's guidelines, which state:
- Containment information indicating that your business is located inside another business (whether or not the businesses are part of the same organization).
- Not acceptable: "Chase ATM (in Duane Reade)", "Apple Store at Stanford Shopping Center", "Benefit Brow Bar - Bloomingdales", "Sam’s Club Tire & Battery (part of Sam’s Club)", "Geek Squad (inside Best Buy)"
- Acceptable: "Chase ATM", "Apple Store", "Benefit Brow Bar", "Sam’s Club Tire & Battery", "Geek Squad"
So, it's perfectly fine to have both the hotel and restaurant listed. Just be sure you are following the naming convention and that you have a unique phone number for the restaurant and either a unique page on the hotel site for it, or a unique website for it.
Does this help?
- Containment information indicating that your business is located inside another business (whether or not the businesses are part of the same organization).

Greetings Miriam,
I hope you are doing well. U-NAP stands for URL, Name, and Phone number. In the past NAP was the standard acronym used for local search optimization. In my vertical we often use the term U-NAP to include the URL.

Hi John! Did loganr answer your question? If so, please mark one of his responses with "Good Answer." Otherwise, mind defining U-NAP (versus NAP) for Miriam so she can help?

Hi John!I'd like to weigh in on your question, but I'm not familiar with the term U-NAP. I may have missed something. Please, define and I'll gladly pop back by.

This is a common address format when multiple businesses are located in one building - think big office buildings, apartments, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the 123-A/B format either, you could also do a Unit #. The point is to create something unique about each address so Google doesn't get confused when they find 2 businesses with the same address. I don't have a real-world example that I'm able to share - sorry!
-
Greetings Loganr,
Thanks for your willingness to share the information. I do have a few follow up questions. Where did the recommendation to use an "A" and "B" naming convention come from and how do you know that as stated
"you're able to provide Google with enough different information for them to identify."?
Would you be willing to share a world life example?
The U-NAP for the hotel as already been completed. If we were to introduce the restaurant would suggest the same address with a modifier such as "B"? The restaurant is located in the lobby of the hotel.
Again thank you for your help.

Hi John,
For simplicity sake, I'll guide you over to a very similar conversation I had yesterday. https://moz.com/community/q/consistant-citations-for-local-seo
Hope that thread helps!

Best way to manage multiple Google My Business accounts as a marketing agency?
As marketing agency we have for each client a Google My Business account. This means that we have more than 100 Google My Business accounts. We know that GA has a limit of 100 analytics accounts (free version), but is there a limit in Google My Business too? For now, we have created multiple accounts that own different Google My Business accounts of our clients. Can I just change all the different e-mail accounts of our marketing agency and change it to one? So we can manage all the Google My Business accounts of our clients in one e-mail account?

Gallery page with text below, Or split into two pages
So i'm a professional photographer, so my gallery is pretty important, probably more imprtant than the copy supporting it. Right now I have a gallery with supplementary info pushed below. I'm wondering if it would be better to remove the text from the bottom and put it to the top of it's own page, and leave the gallery page as just images, or keep it mixed with both. You can see my site directly HERE if you would like to see what i'm talking about exactly- the lightbox is broken, its a work in progress.

Once you start fixing Local citations with correct NAP, is it normal for your rankings to plunge at first?
I strongly believe that I have received the most solid Local advice I could from these forums and have started (in just a few days) to make the needed corrections. At the same time I'm somewhat excited and optimistic that it will be a long journey but that it's a learning process. About 5 days ago, I set my website up with "City landing pages" and I started plundering through google, fixing and claiming and correcting as many citations as I could with correct NAP. The journey still continues today as I just got my Bing Local card in the mail and verified. I went to check my rankings on Google Maps, just to see if anything had changed and sure enough it had. My listing had been holding strong at page 10 (which drives me nuts) and now after 5 days of solid work its on page 18. I have to assume that because I'm stirring the dust perhaps Google is confused and maybe in a month or so things might start moving the other way? Thoughts?

NAP - Name on a local website
From a local perspective, if the legal name of the business is "Rising Realty, Inc", when you added in your footer should I loose the "Inc" part to be consistent with all the other mentions of the business across the web, which are without "Inc"? Thank you!

Does displaying a mobile number for business hurt local SEO?
Perhaps a silly question but could someone please clarify if displaying a mobile number in the main site or Google places etc would hurt local SEO? Is having a regional landline/fixed telephone number a ranking factor? EDIT: This is for a UK site, does anyone have experience of this is UK please?

Does it matter how the NAP is formatted as long as it's consistent?
In local SEO, does it matter how the N.A.P. is formatted as long as it's consistent? Does the name have to be the official legal name? Should the address use USPS standards? Can the phone number be ###.###.#### instead of (###) ###-####?

Local SEO address question - adding a suite number for shared address for office building
Hi, I have a client that has an address that is shared for a few different businesses in the holistic health field. My client is a chiropractor. There is an eye doctor, massage therapist and acupuncturist aslo sharing the same address. It's a subburban setting with two buildings all sharing one address. In the interest of preventing any merged listings down the road, I recently added un unofficial suite number to his website and Google places business listing. I also did this for all of his online directory listings, and for Bing and Yahoo as well. Did I do the right thing here? It seems to be having a positive impact on his local SEO as far as I can tell. Or at least there has not been any negative impact in the last 6 months Your thoughts?
