how often does this system update ? Its seems to stash very old results ?

Once a month we see an update to the index for OSE.

I think in the coming days we will see a few update so I would hold tight.

Or you can use other services to track incoming links to your website.

Usually about 6 weeks. The last update was at the beginning of June and the next one is scheduled for next Monday.

Do links from International SEO counterpart site carry weight?

Hi everyone! One of our clients has a competitor who has an international reach with their website. Their hreflang goes from Brazil, German, US, China, etc. We found that the Chinese site (.cn) sends over 900,000+ backlinks to the main US site (.com). The hreflang for the site has the .com US version of the site as the canonical. So my question is - does our competitor get any link equity from the 900,000 links they are getting from their Chinese (.cn) version of the site? My initial thought is that because they are marked up with hreflang and canonical tags, those 900,000+ links wouldn't' have any equity? Would love some thoughts/guidance on what others think.

What are some Boilerplate Link-Building Activities for a new site?

Assuming you have built a new sophisticated site that involves high user engagement as in bounce rate < 30% sophisticated genuine content (pages > 2000 chars) best possible site speed what are some of the boilerplate link building activities you would execute under which considerations? Activities: I am thinking of things along the lines of building X social media links using a fiverr submission to curated link directories reach out for high quality links with thought leaders etc Considerations: I am thinking of things along the lines of keep a constant link gain velocity over the first 3 months make sure you place links across pages not just the root domain make sure you have a mix of follow and no-follow links and a natural anchor text distribution In short I am hoping we can crowdsource a linkbuilding starting guide in the SEO world of 2015. /T

Detected a bad site linking to you? what to do?

I have detected on linkdetox site that had stolen a face photo of a smile from a star my website and is linking to the page. I uploade a disavow with that site very bad domain. But my question is if should a take that picture of my site or rename so the link goes to 404. It is not an important or relevant page for my website

Somone is creating a ton of links to my site!!!

Today I looked at site explorer and found over 1100 linking root domains and over 750 linking c-blocks. My site was hovering around 200 linking root domains and 150 linking c-blocks. I have not paid anyone to link to my site... Is this one of my competitors trying to create negative seo for a specific key word? I've worked very hard to never try to build links and only get links naturally by providing good content that people would want to link to. Can all hundreds of new links hurt me? How have they done that? DA20 site in p2 for very competitive search term

Not sure whether to actually name the term and site in question, but basically it is a very big term for a popular type of home furniture. Since the algo change, there is a site thats appeared in p2, right behind the market leader in google uk. The site has a domain authority of 20, and only 84 links - none of which even have the anchor text in question, and infact well over 90% have the same anchor text which is related but different to the search term. The search term appears on the home page 3 times - once in a 120 character+ keyword stuffed home link title, once in a 100 character+ keyword stuffed h1 tag that isnt even visible on the home page and one in a paragraph that is visible.
The site is badly made and buggy, but its outranking John Lewis, Dunelm Mill etc - very big players in the UK market. How on earth does that work? They are doing so much google tells you not to and winning big rank!? What is Google doing?

Host a wordpress blog as a folder or external site?

I've been speaking to our developers as I want to introduce a blog. My intention is to host the blog as part of our existing site, so the url becomes www.example.com/blog I have a personal wordpress blog and I love it, the amount of plugins, themes and ease of use makes it a fantastic platform. I spoke to my developers and requested if they could install Wordpress within a folder of our existing website. This gives me control to do plugins, custom themes etc. Straight forward I thought, but I didn't get a straight forward reply. They went on that it would require two linux php servers, a load balancer between them, and set up and configuration would take 5 days. Their day rates are high, so 5 days is a lot of money. This got me thinking, what if I hosted it externally and linked from our website, so the blog URL would be www.myblog.com This gives me the power to have a wordpress blog for cheap and use all the fantasic plugins to optimise the site (Yoast, Schema plugins etc). I know for SEO, it's better to host it as part of your existing site, the ranking juice remains in your area and it further helps strengthen the site. But then i'm thinking, if the wordpress stand alone blog works out, it will end up being a great external linker, further boosting my existing site's presense. Have any of you faced any similar problems? Thoughts?

Hello, one of my competitors built all these blogs and pointed them to their main site.. Should You Avoid Links from Sites with Big Difference Between PR and MozRank?

If a site has a Google toolbar PR of 2 and a Mozrank of 5, does that most likely mean that the site is penalized and a link would probably provide little value. I know that Google rarely updates toolbar PR so I suppose the site could have also earned a lot of quality links since the last update. Thanks Mozzers!
