What to tweet and blog about?
-
A little background:
The site I'm working on, www.ixl.com, is a math practice site for pre-K through 8th grade. Our content consists of math skills where we randomly generate math problems, grouped by grades and topics. We have around 300 skills per grade.
The question:
We don't currently have a twitter feed, Facebook page, or a blog. I'm working on setting these up, or at least a twitter feed and the Facebook page first. I'm wondering, what kinds of things will we tweet about once I get a twitter feed set up? What kinds of things should we be tweeting about? Things like online education articles? And articles about teaching math? Do you guys think that would be compelling enough to get followers and make this productive for us?
Another question, how important do you think a blog is, compared to a twitter feed and Facebook page? I was thinking it would be fun to set up a blog, and post math questions from the site 2x or 3x a week, as well as other content that could overlap with the twitter feed.

For content ideas, set up a news feed for yourself that is filtered for "teachers". I just read a story last night: http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/07/20/why.quit.teacher/index.html?hpt=hp_c1
Take recent news stories, add your experience, insight and commentary so the article will be helpful to your readers.

If your going social, you need to have something interesting to say. Having an opinion helps drive that conversation. Its easier to have an opinion on the politics of education than it is to have one on a maths problem
Maths questions target students, and Im with EGOL that it will more likely be parents who follow you but only if you provide value. I would look at the higher level stuff, having an opinion on how maths is taught, the politics of maths and teaching, running competitions for maths stuff for their kids
I have to ask why you arent doing the freerice.com thing with it? big extra love & links from the community - work out how many grains of rice there are in a packet and you realise how cheap that type of thing is to do

Another question, how important do you think a blog is, compared to a twitter feed and Facebook page?
I have a blog and each blog post automatically posts to FB and TW. People who want to follow our blog then have access. So, if you do the blog and share the feed you get the other two free. Also, if other folks, such as homeschool parents or groups like your content they might republish your feed to their tribe.
I'm wondering, what kinds of things will we tweet blog about?
My bet is that your real following will be parents and tutors and teachers who steer kids to the practice site. So I would post tips for them on teaching, motivation and making learning fun.

Should we add a weekly updated website blog (annotated re-postings) that mirrors our LinkedIn updates?.
We currently add original content to our website every couple of months in the form of long form articles we have guest authored for other reputable sites. We also maintain a LinkedIn company site with weekly updates in the form of annotated newsworthy re-postings. We are thinking of duplicating our LinkedIn update feed on our website as a blog in order to build more traffic and improve SEO. Hopefully the additional frequency of site updates will also help. Again, this additional content will be largely re purposed, with the exception of our value-added annotations. Good idea? Waste of time? Suggested tweaks? Should we link back to the original content source, no-follow, or no link?

Facebook Share Percentage - On Blog Posts
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a way to give each post we are creating a quality status. Since bounce rate on this case isn't really a viable option (Blog Behavior) since people could stay 10 mins reading it and then go elsewhere without interacting. I'm looking for a way to focus on facebook sharing, lets say something simple like "Facebook Shares / Sessions" per each blog post, while I can have an idea on my own data, lets say my highest is 4.1% of all people that go to that post end it up sharing it. But I wonder on average what would you consider a good engagement post, what would that percentage might be? Thanks in advance.

Trying to find a WP application (that does not require a FB application) that synchronizes website blog posts with a company facebook page
I'm not a developer and it's been about 5 years since I helped a client synchronize their wordpress blog posts with their FB page. I remember it being much simpler to do this in the past. However recently I'm noticing that all of the WP auto post applications require a Facebook application to get the synchronization to function properly.

Is there any WP plugin available that does not require this? Something that just requires FB keys?0 -
Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are: Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed. Would love to hear some feedback on the tool... Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile? What could be done to improve it? What ways do you think it will be most useful? Thanks! Are there tools like followerwonk / wefollow for blogs?
We are looking for a way to quickly find blogs for a particular keyword that have a high number of subscribers / followers. Is there a tool that can do this? A blog equivalent of followerwonk / wefollow would be ideal.
