How can I get hi quality links to an ecommerce site?
-
I understand that ads don't count. What other ways are there?

You often have to write many well-written, and blog posts which are helpful to shoppers blog, this is to help you to earn more quality links, to your company's e-commerce site.

Hi there,
Thanks for the question.
It can be a challenge to build links to an ecommerce website, particularly if you're selling products which are widely available and not very link-worthy in their own right. The guide suggested by Rayflexgroup by Backlinko is certainly a good starting point, as well as a few others:
https://moz.com/blog/building-deep-links-into-ecommerce-pages - it's a few years old but worth seeing if any of the tactics are relevant for you at the moment.
https://moz.com/blog/creative-link-building-for-ecommerce-sites

A few other things I'd suggest:
-
Look wider than just your products to look at your audience and what their issues, problems or concerns are. Then create content around those and look to build links into these. This takes time and you need to put a lot of effort in, but essentially you need to "surround" all of your products and categories with genuinely useful content which is as good as it can possibly be. You won't "go viral" with this kind of content but it will have the ability to pick up links over time.
-
Depending on your niche, spoof products can work well. A few examples are here and while these were not link building plays, they certainly generated links and attention.
-
Also look at the people at your company and their story - do you have a founder or CEO who is open to talking to business press or websites about business growth or retail trends? This can work well and get links from the kinds of sites that your competitors may not think of.
I hope that helps!

Hi James,
I am curious as to why you think there is only one really good way to get good backlinks to an ecommerce site -- and why you don't want to share it in this thread so that other forum members may benefit from it.

Backlinko has a great guide on link building for e-commerce, you can try guest blogging, create infographics and share to your audience or list on appropriate directories (we are a UK manufacturing business and we list on madeinbritain campaign and construction.co.uk, for example)

How can a slight brochureware website with little content or keywords be getting DA 96, PA 59 and linking domains of 50.5million?
How can a Facebook page get domain authority of 96, page authority of 59 and have 50million linking domains? I come across websites that feature crappy video clips in serp features in google searches, the website.

It's surely black hat tactics. How do they get away with this? The website has zero content beyond light brochureware.

Whats the best way to get credit links from sites i've built?
Hello! I've build 100's of sites. They mostly have site wide footer links pointing back to me. I know this is now frowned on. But does anyone have a good solution to get maximum value back from these? A few have a footer link to a credit page that then links back. I get quite a lot of work back from them. So I don't really fancy removing them. Many thanks in advance.

Total Links vs Google Webmaster Site Links
I am interested why the numbers between SEOmoz and Google are so different. In SEOmoz we only show 17,000ish links from 190ish domains. In Google, we show 200,000+ links from 370 domains. Why is there such a dramatic difference?

Old Site not Passing Along Links?
Recently, we created a new website for a client, and put it on a new domain. We put a 301 redirect site-wide on the old site. The 301 is working correctly, and any visit to the old site is now going to the new one. So, from a functionality standpoint, we're looking good. However, looking at the domain authority of the sites, it doesn't seem that the old links are passing value to the new site. The old site had 43 linking root domains, and a domain authority of 30, compared to the new site with 16 linking root domains and an authority of 22. If I understand correctly, the links should be viewed as pointing to the new site and passing link juice to the new one, correct? Is there a reason why this may be happening that I should be looking into? Any thoughts or advice on this one would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Adding a directory and aggregated content to my ecommerce site
I'd like to add a directory of websites to my ecommerce site. We operate within a nice niche both in terms of products and demographics. The directory would be specific to our verifical and market. My concern is how Google will see these external links. A reciprocal link won't be required to be in our directory, but I suspect many sites would like back to us as we outreach to them with content ideas, their directory links, and as we share them with our social network on twitter and facebook. The directory would be broken down into categories so each page may have 1-20 external links on it. Our architecture already incldes category links (all internal) so these would be in additional the links you would normally see on our site. I'd also like to aggregate some content - again, mostly external links. Will Google have take poorly to that aggregation?

Links per Site vs. Domain Authority
Here's a quaint one: 1. Posting follow links on another site helps increase one's domain authority. 2. If I post to the same site/forum with followed links each week, would my domain authority reap a domain authority increase benefit? In short, is there any domain authority benefit to continually post links to a site to which I've already posted a follow link?
