Which is the better keyword strategy? Specifying page or seeing what ranks?
-
I recently began using another third-party tool that requires a list of keywords and the URLs I want those keywords to rank on (for example, "vegetarian recipes" on www.123.com/vegetarian-recipes). Is this a better strategy than using the Moz ranking tool to see which pages on my domain my target keywords are already ranking for? I can see how the former might mean we miss opportunities but the latter doesn't necessarily show how my priority pages are doing for specific keywords.

If a person considers his business and the industry where he will compete, the keywords that are most profitable or most precious are usually obvious. Having identified them, the work is then to build one very high quality page for each of those keywords and then forming that page into a finely-crafted arrow with characteristics that will defeat all opponents.
When in difficult contests, multiple subpages are then built, each to attack a subkeyword and these are prepared so that they might provide deep content resources, backlinks to the page attacking the root, and demonstrating to Google and all visitors that yours is the world's best resource.
The attack might be short but if the prize is worthy, years might be required. And, for this deep knowledge and strong writing skills will be required of you, and possibly assistance from allies.
The tracking most valuable for all of the above is the ranking position of your root and primary subkeywords. As time progresses you will hopefully see increases in the rankings as you put your work forth. Those ranking increases will be the fuel that keeps you moving forward and keeps your mental energies high. Nothing is more valuable than mental energy when in this type of competition.

As much as I love MOZ - ranking pages for keywords is very useful, though saying that you should add the keywords you want to rank for to certain pages anyway; & be somehow being aware of how they rank at any given time.

Unsolved Ranking not collecting keywords
Hi, we recently migrated our blog to be on the same domain as our main website. It's been about a month. I have continued adding more keywords we'd like to track to our Ranking list on Moz. But it's been a week and the keywords are still not collecting. Is this something we need to fix on our end, or is there something going on with Moz? keyword ranking issues.png

Why did my rankings drop so fast?
Hi Mozzers, One of my clients have suffered from a sudden ranking loss that started beginning of August. A little background: My client is a big cleaning company that has many franchises nationwide and had very good rankings for the past few months. Generally the busiest time of the year is summer and the 4th quarter is the slowest. Organic Traffic generally drops by 5 to 10% between Q3 and Q4 of each year. 2 things have caught my attention while investigating these ranking losses The latest recent Update from the moz index evaluated the website's DA of 48 when in the summer we had a DA of 56. Never seen such a drop before!! My first question is how accurate is the moz index? How can I make sure this data is accurate? I am very surprised because we have been working hard on getting good quality links for the past year and a half. If the DA is accurate then that could explain the ranking loss Google updating its search engine to the Hummingbird version. Do you guys think this has anything to do with the drop in rankings? The content on the website is not the best but is fairly decent. I am still not sure how the ranking drop could be related to Hummingbird? I have also checked webmaster tools to see if I got hit somehow by penguin and it seems fine. Thanks mozzers

Why does SEO MOZ Pro scan your competitors keyword rankings?
I find the keyword rankings feature of SEOmoz Pro probably it's most useful feature. I was wondering why you can't see your listed competitors stats in comparison?

Can Google see all the pages that an seomoz crawl picks up?
Hi there My client's site is showing around 90 pages indexed in Google. The seomoz crawl is returning 1934 pages. Many of the pages in the crawl are duplicates, but there are also pages which are behind the user login. Is it theoretically correct to say that if a seomoz crawl finds all the pages, then Google has the potential to as well, even if they choose not to index? Or would Google not see the pages behind the login? And how come seomoz can see the pages? Many thanks in anticipation! Wendy

Why are the rankings of my keywords different to rankings from other programmes such as 'Access my Lan' and 'Firefly'? Does SEOMoz count 'Google Places and Maps' in their rank count? Im thinking this could explain the difference

Rankings csv export doesn't show local rank
Is there a way to enable this in the settings somewhere? or is this simply not an available feature yet? Would be really great if there was an extra column in the report that shows local rank, as 93 of our top 100 keywords we track are all blended search results and a lot of the time this shows really inaccurate results because of this.

On Page missing keywords
I setup my keywords on SEOMoz properly but the On Page result just shows me 2 keywords instead of the 7 that I set for my campaign. I was expecting the application to score the other keywords on wednesday but it did not add the missing keywords. Is this a bug?
