PA and PD better than my competitors is a way to rank better?
-
I got a site that stuck in last position of google's first page.
My on-page is grade A for this particulary page, i got links for that page too.
But My competitors PA and PD is better than mine, not too much, but it is.
If i build more quality backlinks and start increasing my PA and PD probaly i will rank better than my competitors?
Thats the factor that i have do cara abour now?
-
Keep in mind da and pa are not so accurate anymore since people are using the disavow tool. Also keep in mind the google cares more about quality, anchor texts and relevance then just da and pa. So be careful if you are just chasing the da and pa.
-
I love this idea! Combining social media and getting some authority links helped me outrank some competitors.
-
Best thing to do is make sure your site structure and code is clean and fast. Optimize your pics with alt tags, and use the lowest image size possible so speed of loading is quick.
Also measure your analytics and review your time on site and bounce rate. If google sees that people visit your site and immediately leave, this tells them your site is not relevant for that specific keyword.
You will also want to make sure that you consistently add new and relevant content throughout your site. Google seems to like deep sites. That is why internal linking is important.
Get reviews for your site from clients or customers from Google, Yelp etc.
Good Luck

Short answer to your question, yes.
A quick question to everyone who says update the content, that is fair enough, but whenever we undertake a site wide update/slight content addition/change it seems we get hit with a filter/penalty.
Sort of like "your site is changing, we need to wait until you stop to rank you properly"....it's really weird.
Although I wonder if it has more to do with slight title tag changes too, any thoughts, anyone?

I have actually used these (I call) "trust building strategies to rank", it was a wise decision! IMO and experience trust is the most important factor for ranking.
I am beating my competitors for most of our main keywords. See Attachement, we are only targeting relevancy and building trust.

Agreed!

I have seen many cases where the 1st position holder has PA and DA less than the lower ranked ones, however, it definitely does help a great deal to see your site and page authority generally. Just putting it out there so you don't expect to automatically rank higher if/when your PA DA increases
-
Hi Rafael,
Yes, look to primarily focus on the PA and look to continue to build relevant links to your site page focusing on the relevant anchor text to be used.
It might be worth running Open site explorer too and monitor the current external links (as well as internal) point to the specific page and look to engage within existing websites already linking to you but ask them to modify the anchor text?

Hi there Rafael!
It seems that JoelHit is referring to making sure that you have uniquely written content on your home page if that is what you want to improve in rank, provided that you're already working on the backlink issue.
I'd strongly recommend going through OSE to review your competition's highest backlinks for DA/PA and working to get some for yourself.
Best of luck!

For pages that have similar link metrics and are competing for the first page rankings I would really recommend to focus on the social metrics as of late they seem to be what helped me get my clients from top 5-9 to 1-3.
If you give more information about the page and keyword we can do further analysis and see what you lack from the puzzle. But you can do that yourself too ..

If u are missing a piece of the pie simply do work on it and get to the top.

Hi Rafael,
On the subject of updating content, there are a couple of basic things you could think about that will help send a signal to the search engines that tells them the content on your site is kept current and therefore more likely to be relevant.
- Take a look at your existing pages and see if any of the content can be updated. There is an old blog post from Rand which talks about this and is still very relevant
Headsmacking Tip #11 - Refresh Legacy Content for a Rankings Boost
Paddy Moogan also talks about this strategy in a post from earlier this year
Actionable Link Building Strategies
- The second option is to look for opportunities to build new content (which can serve the dual purpose of helping to build more of those back links you want)
On the subject of building more links, yes, that will help improve your PA & DA, but be clever and thoughtful about the way that you do this. Don't just go for every link that crosses your path - work to get better quality links rather than just going for quantity.
Hope that helps,
Sha

What do you mean update the content?
cuz my page is static, what king of content can i put in a page that is static, you know what i mean?
Any tips?
-
Make sure you link to that page from other pages on your site to from within content if you have not done so already. This may provide a quick win while you do your link building.

2 sites with low DA and PA and unoptimised <title>outranking everyone for competitive search term - How ?</title>
Im doing some keyword research for a new client, Ive found 2 anomalies for competitive search terms where sites with unoptimised <title>tags, poor backlinks and other stats, (compared to the other sites listed in the SERP) are out ranking everyone and claiming the #1 spot</p> <p> The 2 search terms are :</p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=interior+designers+london&oq=interior+designers+london&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65j69i60j69i65l2j69i60.2784j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8">Interior designers London</a>- #1 new-id.co.uk - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=new-id.co.uk&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a></p> </li> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=interior+designers+london&oq=interior+designers+london&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i65j69i60j69i65l2j69i60.2784j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=interior+designer+london">Interior designer London</a>- #1 nstudio.co.uk - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fnstudio.com%2F&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a></p> </li> </ul> <p> (interestingly they hardly rank at all for any modification of those search terms)</p> <p> The only thing i could think of is that they both had some really good links using that exact anchor text, but ive been checking OSE for the past month both in the backlinks and the just discovered but couldnt see anything like that.</p> <p>I conducted the SERP checking from a laptop with a broadband connection based in London, although im not very local to either of these locations im about an 8th of the cities distance away from one of those location and about half a cities distance away from the other. So i dont think its a local skew thats causing the SERP rankings.</p> <p>For both sites i can see they had old domains which now redirect to the them :</p> <ul> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><span data-mce-mark="1">New-id.co.uk = </span><span data-mce-mark="1"><a href="http://newidinteriors.com/">newidinteriors.com</a> - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fnewidinteriors.com&no_redirects=1&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a> - PA1, DA1</span></p> </li> <li dir="ltr"> <p dir="ltr"><span data-mce-mark="1">Nstudio.co.uk = intarya.com - <a href="https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/links?site=www.intarya.com&filter=&source=external&target=page&group=0&page=1&sort=page_authority&anchor_id=&anchor_type=&anchor_text=&from_site=">OSE info</a> - Da 32, PA43</span></p> </li> </ul> <p> Although the intarya domain was quite strong with good backlinks (but nothing above par comapred to the other sites the nstudio.co.uk site is now outranking, the anchor text was mostly natural with only some keyword anchor text from PA1 pages. </p> <p>The <a href="http://newidinteriors.com/">newidinteriors.com</a> didnt seem to have a backlink profile, both PA1 and DA1.</p> <p> Ive taken screenshots of the SERP pages below, but feel free to dig further</p> <p>Any idea what's going on here ?</p> <a download="HWkjmDf.png" class="imported-anchor-tag" href="http://i.imgur.com/HWkjmDf.png" target="_blank">HWkjmDf.png</a> <a download="A70jXse.png" class="imported-anchor-tag" href="http://i.imgur.com/A70jXse.png" target="_blank">A70jXse.png</a></title>

At a bit of a loss as to poor rankings
I have a site in the UK, with these metrics: 15 years old 500 pages in sitemap, but Majestic says 186,000 indexed URLs ? DA of 45, PR of 3 1000 links from 200 linking root domains, across from 150 IP's (from OSE) 33,000 links in OSE when I use the compare tool and look at the "links to this root domain" section 24,000 external links according to Majestic 350 shares, 2,000 tweets, 60 +1's Median PA of linking root domains (from OSE export) = 20 no Moz on-page errors, or webmaster tools issues The above metrics are better than 2 competitors who have only just launched, have fewer links, lower DA, etc, and are ranking for keywords like "wedding entertainment", "corporate entertainers" Our site is www.superted.com Why doesn't OSE show 33,000 links when I select "links to this root domain". Why will those links only be shown when I do a domain comparison in OSE? I'm thinking our anchor text distribution is the problem. We have very few links containing the keywords want. Also maybe our sitemap is an issue as it only lists 500 of our pages? But given our domain age, DA, etc... surely anchor text / site map isn't the only issue here? Any hints would be awesome.

How better can we compare with a competitor ?
We were ranking 1st to 5th spot for the keyword, "PSD to Joomla Template" for this page, http://www.qubesys.com/psd-to-joomla-template/ for last 2 years! But since last 6 months, we are getting like 0 traffic to this page and absolutely no leads. We just tried to compare with a ranking competitor who has been on top for last 7-8 months already, www.joomla6teen.com/Convert-PSD-to-Joomla-Template.html I just compared it with my page, http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/comparisons?site=www.joomla6teen.com%2FConvert-PSD-to-Joomla-Template.html&comparisons[0]=http://www.qubesys.com/psd-to-joomla-template/ I see our page wins in PAGE METRICS , but falls in SUB DOMAIN AND ROOT DOMAIN Metrics . Whats that ? How do we know, what all things we need to improve at ?

Competitor research: No data / results displaying on Keyword tools, Aexa
Hi there! I'm trying to research a few competitors using various Keyword tools (SEM Rush, Compete, Keyword Spy -- even Alexa for high level insight). While the bulk of the competitors generate expected results through these tools (a smattering of their top organic and paid search keywords, some traffic estimations through Alexa), ONE of these competitors lists "No results" across all categories and all tools: http://www.bgstar.ca Despite this, we know that they invest heavily in search -- and my SEM Rush toolbar indicates that they have a Google PR of 5 (though I recognize that that should be taken with a grain of salt). So I'm stumped! Has anyone encountered this before? Is there something structural that they might be doing, that's blocking not only Google-based platforms, but Alexa too? Thanks for your help!

What's the best way to discover my business and search competitors?
I am trying to figure out who the real competitors are for the domain that I have been recently handed. Other than the client's references, which I don't think are the real competition (they are his benchmarks), how do I go about discovering the true competition? What the simplest, most effective way to go about discovering my business and search competitors? Given that this is a web portal, aren't both of the latter the same?

How did this little site rank #2?
Keyword: "adoption agency" Site: http://www.opendooradoption.org These guys are ranked #2 for this very competitive term in all US regions. They're beating Bethany (and my company) who are orders of magnitude larger in both company size and link profile. Their domain authority is 40, and they have less than 200 links pointing to them with "adoption agency" in the anchor according to OSE. Their on-site is pretty much nonexistent. Does anyone have any theories as to how they accomplished this?
