High quality links but where do you find them?
-
Hi,
A lot of the answers on here point to building high quality links, which makes sense but where do you find these links?
Lets say the website sells Football Boots, the current keyword you are trying to rank for is say 'Indoor Football Boots'.
How do you now go about looking for those links?
Cheers

activitysuper, I do link building research by finding a strong competitor site: I use opensite explorer with these settings
only followed links
only external links
You will find some pretty good links for free (or for a reasonable $ or effort) and you will also learn about what type of content and persona that site projects.
Good luck.

Bingo! The key is to delegate and use your talent where it matters.
Another quick tip. There's a blogger movement called "DoFollow Blogging" where they allow dofollow comments on their blogs. There's no real way to seek these people out well enough per niche.
However, there's a little plugin out there called "keywordluv" Searching for your niche+"keywordluv" brings up blogs with the keywordluv notice. They're almost entirely dofollow, and they're constantly hunting for good commenters. Leave something insightful and relevant to the conversation, and it'll be the easiest link you've ever gotten.
Your copywriter should be able to churn out about 1200 words an 8 hour day and manage 3 to 4 submissions a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Keep tabulating by the word. If you're paying more than 13 cents a word, you're paying too much.
Text broker prices are around 6-7 cents a word, but remember, your in-house copywriter is contacting bloggers, submitting articles, managing my social media, and maintaining these relationships. I value that enough to pay double.

Ok,
Thanks to both of you for your advice and thank you Dan for breaking it down with an example, and a process.
I've got a copy writer who does content for me so this looks like a good route.

I think I did suggest exactly that but without going into the specific detail to be fair.
Of course guest blog posts are only one part of link building and activitysuper would need to ensure link diversity on his websites profile as well.

Each industry and website is different.
If it is a new website personally I would use some directories, blogs or forums (ones which don't look too spammy, are relevant to your industry and have a good domain authority) to get some links (people may disagree with this).
The key with link building tends to be keeping things consistent so when you come to building more 'quality links' ensure you always have a pipeline going because so links can take a long time to nurture.

Thanks,
So if I was to systematically go through this list to build links how many would you say I should build a day, I could just spend a day and role through loads but maybe I should try for 5 links a day?

I would recommend starting with the Competitive Link Finder tool - http://www.seomoz.org/labs/link-intersect
Go through this process gives you a little bit of an idea about the places to find links such as competitor link analysis and Google searches

Should we get link from dated page with high PA/DA?
We have an unlinked mention on a page that has dated content about an old event but the page and site have a good PA and DA score. Is it worth it to go for the link? Thanks.

When conducting a link building strategy does it matter the country the link is from?
We are a UK business and if we have links mostly from US based blogs and websites does this penalise us. The links are from relevant websites and topics. Should we be focusing on .co.uk sites

Tons of Links from Low-Quality Image Directories?
Hi Mozzers, I've been receiving a ton of links from low-quality websites that look like image directories or search engines? They are displaying the images that are hosted on our own website. They all seem very similar. Has anyone experienced this and are these harmful? Should they be left alone or disavowed or..? Here are a few examples: http://myimagecollection.net http://pix-collection.com http://theimagess.org/ http://123coolpictures.com etc. Thanks in advance!

Removing bad/poor quality links from the site
Sometime back my site was penalized due to unnatural artificial and deceptive links. Then we got removed the penalty by uploading file in Disavow Tool. Bad links are decreasing gradually now . What i am concerned to ask is that: 1: For how long i should wait till Google removes all the requested bad links 2:Second, i believe there are still many bad links that I dont want to keep. How to remove them now onward? Should we send Google a reconsideration request for removing the remaining bad links (site has been recovered already and no more under penalty banner) Tanveer

How many nofollow links should we build to have a natural link profile
Hi guys, As with many link builders we have been building lots of dofollow links for our site, so many that mainly our incoming links are dofollow. Some pages have 99.5% dofollow external links which I know is not very natural. In your experience in terms of percentage how much should you have in terms of nofollow external links in your link profile. I noticed SEOMoz has about 12-13% nofollow external links, shall I go with this figure? Thanks guys. David

Do sites on the same c-block and same server count as seperate linking root domains when linking to each other?
Lets say there are 50 businesses who have their website on the same server and are on the same c-block but the owners of the individual sites are different (i.e. they are all completely different sites not relevant to each other). Each of those sites are linking to each other due to a feature on the sites. This obviously increases the number of total links to each site but does it also increase the number of linking root domains? Or does this just show up as one linking root domain due to all of them being on the same server and the sharing the same c-block?

Link Analysis Quality Issues / Concerns?
I'm currently using OSE to find out where some of my competitors are getting links. The intention is to find new link opportunities. What i'm finding is A LOT of directories. It seems like for every 1 good link opportunity I'm getting 9 directories. These directories are easy links, but my main worry is quality. Should I be obtaining these links or skip over them?
